Leeds have agreed a deal with Crystal Palace to sign winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi on loan but fellow Championship clubs Sheffield United and Hull City remain in the race according to Sky Sports.

The 21-year-old made just eight appearances in all competitions for the Eagles last season as they enjoyed a resurgence over the second half of the campaign under Oliver Glasner and secured a top half finish.

Rak-Sakyi, who is under contract until 2027 was left out of the Palace squad for their tour pre-season tour of America and it’s almost certain his short term future lies away from Selhurst Park.

Leeds agree terms for Rak-Sakyi loan

Rak-Sakyi has been at Palace since the age of 16 and he’s come through the ranks to feature for the first team.

However, regular minutes in the first team have been few and far between for the winger and with the signings of Daichi Kamada and Ismaila Sarr it pushes him further down the pecking order.

Palace reportedly want to send Rak-Sakyi out on loan to play regular football and have earmarked the Championship as their preferred destination.

Sky Sports have reported that Leeds, Sheffield United and Hull City have all agreed season long loan deals with Palace, but the player has yet to decide who he wants to join.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi in action for Crystal Palace.
Rak-Sakyi is expected to spend the coming season on loan in the Championship.

Leeds are in need of reinforcements in the wide areas after losing Crysencio Summerville to West Ham and Daniel Farke will desperately be hoping he can guide the club to promotion next season, having lost to Southampton in the play-off final.

Although Rak-Sakyi hasn’t played in the Championship before he had a successful loan spell with Charlton in League One during the 2022/2023 campaign, scoring 15 goals and providing eight assists in 43 appearances.

The Whites have got money to spend following the sales of Summerville and Archie Gray, but it’s important they spend it wisely.

A move for Rak-Sakyi makes sense as it’s financially viable and it’s one of those low risk high reward type of moves.

Leeds host Portsmouth on Saturday lunchtime in their opening game of the season and they will very much hope it’s second time lucky in regards to promotion.

Leeds United kick off their Championship season on Saturday against Portsmouth at Elland Road, shorn of a number of the players that took them all the way to the Play-Off final.

With three weeks left until the transfer window closes for business, there’s every chance that a handful more will bid the club farewell too.

Daniel Farke will be hoping that the all whites can go one better, even if they can’t call upon the likes of Crysencio Summerville, who recently joined West Ham.

They have at least agreed terms with a winger who could be considered his replacement, however.

According to Sky Sports, they aren’t favourites for Jesurun Rak-Sakyi from Crystal Palace but are still in the running.

Sheffield United are credited with being in pole position to sign the player on loan, and Hull have also agreed terms for him, though Leeds shouldn’t feel as if the game is already up because you never say never in football.

Newcastle United are preparing to send Isaac Hayden out on loan ahead of the new season.

Having spent last season on loan with Standard Liege and QPR, the Magpies midfielder appears to have no future in Eddie Howe’s first-team plans.

However, still with two years left on his contract, which, according to Spotrac, includes a £22,000-per week wage, getting Hayden off their books permanently is proving problematic for the northeast club.

Championship trio chasing Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden

Consequently, another loan move looks to be on the cards. According to the Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, Championship trio Hull City, West Brom and former loaning side QPR are among those most interested.

Newcastle United will let Isaac Hayden leave on loan
Isaac Hayden is set to leave Newcastle United on loan.

A return to Loftus Road could be the 29-year-old’s preference having spent the second half of last season there. The Chelmsford-born midfielder, who is also eligible to play internationally for Jamaica, started 12 Championship games under Marti Cifuentes and is understandably wanted by the Spaniard again.

Nevertheless, with Hull City and West Brom both also in the mix to sign the outcasted midfielder, fans must await the player’s final decision ahead of Friday’s first round of Championship fixtures.

During his time at St. James’ Park. Hayden, who joined from Arsenal’s youth academy in 2016, has scored seven goals and registered 10 assists in 171 games in all competitions.

Just like big changes have been made at Leeds United this summer following their failure to get promoted to the Premier League, similar changes have happened at Hull City.

The Tigers failed to finish in the top six of the Championship standings and since then, a number of players have left the club for a new chapter in their career.

Jaden Philogene and Jacob Greaves have been sold while players like Fabio Carvalho, Anass Zaroury, Tyler Morton and Liam Delap have returned to their respective clubs following the end of their loan spell.

The only constant thing at Leeds United is that they still have Daniel Farke as their manager.

Hull City have appointed new manager Tim Walter this summer and he has been given the responsibility to make changes at the club.

One of the players he is targeting is Leeds United target Liam Millar and going by the latest reports, the Tigers have won the race to sign the player.

Matthew Scianitti has claimed that the player is set to undergo a medical at Hull City after the Championship club agreed a fee of £3 million with FC Basel.

With Leeds not making a serious attempt to sign the player, it clearly shows that they are interested in signing Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe.

After losing Crysencio Summerville to West Ham United this summer, they need to replace him and they have already identified their target.

Former England international Carlton Palmer thinks it will be a tight race for Brahima Diarra this summer, but believes Leeds could be a “great fit” for the midfielder.

The Whites are looking to win promotion back to the Premier League having lost in the Play-Off final to Southampton last season.

Leeds are facing the prospect of having to sell a number of their key stars after failing to gain promotion, and they have already lost talented teenager Archie Gray to Tottenham, whilst Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto have been linked with moves to the Premier League.

Leeds the “perfect” fit for Diarra

Daniel Farke’s side are in the market for midfield reinforcements having lost both Gray and Glenn Kamara, and Diarra represents an interesting option.

The 21-year-old is currently a free agent following Huddersfield’s relegation to League One and he’s hoping for a move to the Premier League or back to the Championship.

Diarra, who has spent his entire career with Huddersfield has recently been linked with moves to Burnley, Hull and Leeds according to reports.

However, Palmer thinks Leeds could be a good move for Diarra, who is currently at the Olympics representing Mali.

Diarra is currently a free agent after his contract with Huddersfield expired.

“He has several clubs that are interested, Burnley, Hull and Leeds are all keen to acquire his services and top flight clubs in France and Belgium are also monitoring the situation,” he told Football League World.

“Burnley are going to be at the top end of the table, Leeds are going to be at the top end of the table after they just missed out on getting promotion last season.

“Hull you would expect to be in the top six, so any one of those football clubs would be a good move for him.

“I think maybe Leeds would be a great fit for him, and we know that there’s still some business to be done at Leeds United.

“There could be people like Gnonto and Summerville who may be set to leave, so you know Leeds United are going to be in that race next season.

“I’d like to see him at Leeds where I think he could have a really big impact and the fans would take to him with his exciting style of play.”

Diarra made 23 appearances in all competitions last season and a decision on his future is set to be taken after the Olympics.

Man United are continuing to scour the market place for enviable footballing talents to beef up their squad for the forthcoming campaign.

After what was a poor 2023/24 for the Red Devils, the influx of cash from Sir Jim Ratcliffe will go some way to repairing the damage so to speak.

With Erik ten Hag keeping his place as first-team manager, the club have made a no-nonsense start to their summer recruitment.

Man United linked with South American starlet

Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro are two additions of the highest quality, whilst the potential of Matthijs de Ligt coming to Old Trafford remains.

One player that had come across the club’s radar is exciting Ecuadorian midfield talent, Oscar Zambrano.

Hull Live liken the player to Chelsea’s brilliant Moises Caicedo, and given that Zambrano is apparently available at a ridiculously cheap £4m, it’s a deal that seems too good to be true.

Erik ten Hag should have a stronger Man United squad for the forthcoming season

For Man United, it would appear to be a transfer that they’re happen to pass on, and Hull Live note that the player is actually closing in on a deal with Championship side, Hull City.

Given Zambrano’s relative inexperience at the highest level, had United taken a chance on him, the likelihood would’ve been that the midfielder would’ve been a squad player at best in the interim.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte is a more likely option for United’s midfield this summer, whether on loan or permanently, and the Uruguayan is almost certain to make a big impact if he makes the move from the French capital to the North West of England.

With only a few weeks left of the transfer window, things should start to heat up for both Man United and Hull City now.

When Man United are looking to head off several other clubs in their chase for a player, you know that he must be good.

Hull City ace, Jaden Philogene, has certainly had the world of football talking recently after it was believed that Barcelona had come in for the 22-year-old Hull City star.

Though a potential move to Catalonia hasn’t come to fruition, TeamTalk note that the Red Devils have made their interest in the player clear, with Tottenham Hotspur, Ipswich Town, Everton and Crystal Palace all circling.

Man United want Jaden Philogene

With 17 goals and seven assists in 80 English Championship games per transfermarkt, it’s obvious why Philogene is so much in demand.

Former England international, Chris Waddle, actually believes that the player’s ambitions will be better served by playing in Europe.

“He’s only twenty-two, so the potential is massive,” he said to Lord Ping.

Jaden Philogene to Man United?
Jaden Philogene to Man United?

“When I first saw him, I thought he looked like a player that was destined to reach the top of the game. I found it strange that Hull managed to get him because his potential was clear. He’ll obviously be sold for a lot more money than Hull paid for him, so it’s been a shrewd investment from them and a great bit of business.

“He’s one of those wingers who picks up the ball and takes people on. He’s an entertainer. He’s exciting.

“I’ll be honest, I think his game probably suits the continent rather than England. I think he’ll have more freedom to express himself playing in Europe where he can focus on the things he does well and not have to worry as much about the defensive side of the game.

“For his development as a player, a move to Europe would also benefit him. Barcelona have been linked to him, which says it all about the type of player he is and could become.

“He’s going to have some wonderful options and he deserves them. If I was him, I’d go to a club in Spain or Germany.”

Former Aston Villa winger Jaden Philogene is reportedly being targeted by Barcelona this summer after his impressive form at Hull City last season.

Philogene only recently left Villa for Hull, joining the Tigers in 2023, and despite failing to make the breakthrough into the first-team at Villa Park, his superb form in the Championship is now seeing him attract interest from one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

According to Football Insider, Barcelona are interested in Philogene, and have made initial enquiries over his availability this summer.

Barca have not yet spoken to Hull, however, so it remains to be seen if they’ll go as far as entering into negotiations with them over the talented 22-year-old, or if they’ll end up moving on to other targets.

Philogene looks an exciting prospect, however, and it’s not too surprising to see big clubs showing an interest in him this summer.

Even if a move to the Nou Camp doesn’t work out for the England Under-21 international, there’ll surely be other opportunities that come his way before too long.

Hull, however, will no doubt hope to keep Philogene and continue building a side that can challenge for promotion next season.

West Ham United’s interest in signing Jacob Greaves, the 23-year-old Hull City centre-back, has been progressing positively according to journalist Jacob Steinberg. This move has gained traction following the collapse of their deal with Flamengo for centre-back Fabricio Bruno.

The Hammers had reached an agreement with Flamengo for Bruno, a promising centre-back, for a fee of around £12.5 million. Despite the financial aspects being settled, the transfer fell through due to non-monetary reasons. Concerns emerged regarding Bruno’s potential difficulties in adapting to European football, given that he has never played outside Brazil.

Additionally, reservations were raised about his age, as he will turn 29 next season, which may not align with West Ham’s long-term strategic planning.

Amidst the complications with Bruno, West Ham United’s focus has shifted to Jacob Greaves. Greaves has been a standout performer in the Championship, playing as a left-sided central defender for Hull City. His impressive performances earned him a spot in The Championship’s Team of the Season at the EFL Awards, highlighting his defensive prowess and potential at the age of 23.

Hull City owner opens up about the potential departure of Jacob Greaves as West Ham United showing interest
Jacob Greaves has been one of the standout centre-backs in the Championship over the past two seasons.

Hull City’s owner may be bracing himself for Jacob Greaves’ departure to the Premier League

Hull City’s owner, Acun Ilicali, addressed the swirling speculation regarding Greaves’ future. In an interview with The Yorkshire Post, Ilicali expressed his admiration for the young defender, acknowledging his desire to play in the Premier League.

“Greaves wants to play in the Premier League and he’s such a nice boy,” Ilicali said. “I love him as a character, he’s a real captain and I told him, ‘Greaves, we need you, you are so good, please stay with us.’ But if his brain and soul is completely with another club, we will not stop him.”

Securing Greaves would be a significant coup for West Ham. At 23, he represents both immediate quality and long-term potential. The Tigres’ captain scored two goals and added four assists in the Championship last term while helping the team achieve 11 clean sheets.

His inclusion in the Championship Team of the Season underlines his abilities and readiness to step up to the Premier League.

Moreover, his leadership qualities and character, as praised by Ilicali, suggest he could become a cornerstone of West Ham’s defense.

Liam Rosenior has been sacked by Hull City after they missed out on the Championship play-offs.

They lost to Plymouth on the last day of the season and concluded the season in seventh place.

Hull trailed sixth-place Norwich, who suffered a defeat on the last day of the season, by three points.

Despite being nominated for Manager of the Year, Rosenior is sacked by the Championship club, according to Sky Sports.

Late in December 2023, Rosenior agreed to a new three-year deal that would have kept him with the team until 2026.

In 2022, he assumed charge at the MKM Stadium.

Now, reports suggest that the club fired him after he failed to make the top six.

Hull fell short against struggling Plymouth Argyle in their final match of the season.

In what turned out to be his last interview as manager, he stated that the season had been good when he spoke after the game.

He said, as reported by The Sun:

“The energy and intensity they put into the game, they deserved their win overall.

“Even though results didn’t go our way, we wanted to finish on a really positive note because that would have summed up the season.

Hull City Liam Rosenior Championship
Hull City have made the big decision to sack Liam Rosenior.

“It has been a positive season but we couldn’t quite get over the line today.

“Part of me not quite expected it, but I knew we would be a team that would have to learn on the job.

“Sometimes you can watch us play and we make so many young decisions but we are so fearless in the way we play.

“It is our biggest strength but sometimes our biggest weakness.”

Rosenior was nominated for Championship Manager of the Season, even though he was not able to challenge for promotion through the play-offs.

Hull City’s decision will be surprising for some fans

The winner was Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna, who beat Leeds manager Daniel Farke.

After joining the team halfway through last season, he assisted the team in avoiding relegation, and at the time of his new contract, the team was in the play-offs.

Hull’s season came to an unsatisfactory close as they lost to Plymouth and only managed two victories in six games after being held to draws by Middlesbrough, Watford and Ipswich Town.
