Former Premier League footballer Alan Hutton believes Coventry City’s Callum O’Hare would be a perfect replacement for Crysencio Summeville if he leaves Leeds this summer.

Leeds have reportedly shown an interest in O’Hare but haven’t taken it any further at this stage, but will likely have to replace a number of key players this summer.

The Whites missed out on promotion back to the Premier League after losing the play-off final 1-0 to Southampton, and are expected to have to sell one or two of their key players to help ease any financial pressure with Summerville a likely candidate to leave.

O’Hare the ideal replacement for Summerville

Summerville scored 21 goals in all competitions last season, and was named in the Championship Team of the Season, but the winger is attracting interest from the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool, and is reportedly available for around £30m.

The 22-year-old isn’t the only player who could leave with Georginio Rutter and Willy Gnonto also tipped with potential exits, meaning Daniel Farke will need to find replacements as he looks to guide Leeds back to the Premier League.

Leeds are reportedly interested in Coventry’s O’Hare and Hutton believes the 26-year-old would make a big impact at Elland Road if he were to join the club.

Callum O'Hare in action for Coventry.
Leeds are believed to interested in O’Hare who is out of contract this summer.

“He fits the bill that Leeds like, he’s an exciting player,” he told Football Insider.

“Especially if they’re going to lose somebody like Summerville or Rutter who could possibly be leaving this summer as well.

“They’re going to need to bring somebody in to replace these guys. I know Callum O’Hare well, I’ve played alongside him when I was at Villa.

“He’s very technically gifted, he’s got an eye for a pass and he can score goals, and he’s still at a good age and he’s got experience at this level.

“I think that is something Leeds are definitely looking at and he suits them well.”

O’Hare scored ten goals in 36 appearances last season as Coventry made the semi finals of the FA Cup, scoring against Manchester United at Wembley, but he’s out of contract this summer and is set to leave in look for a new challenge.

West Ham United’s new manager Julen Lopetegui is reportedly keen for the club to seal the transfer of talented young Birmingham City midfielder Jordan James this summer.

The 19-year-old has impressed in the Championship and looks like he could soon have what it takes to shine in the Premier League, with the Hammers seemingly ready to swoop.

James has been linked with West Ham and other clubs, with Lopetegui seemingly keen on the potential signing to also boost the club’s homegrown roster.

The Wales international has been compared to current West Ham man Jarrod Bowen, as he has an eye for goal from the middle of the park and the kind of intelligence to play a variety of positions.

Lopetegui looks an exciting appointment for West Ham and if he’s given the right signings then he can surely do exciting things with this team next season.

James seems just like the kind of player WHUFC should be moving for before their rivals get him, as he’ll surely improve and see his value shoot up in years to come.

Burnley are believed to be keeping their options open ahead of the 2024/25 season as the Clarets consider parting ways with Vincent Kompany.

The Belgian guided the club back to the Premier League during the 2022/23 campaign and created one of the best teams the Championship has ever seen.

This season has been tougher for the Premier League club as Burnley have been relegated back down to England’s second division after just one season in the top flight. Even though this is a bad outcome, the campaign was not a total disaster and had the Clarets started the term better, they may have stayed up given their end-of-season form.

According to TBR Football, Burnley and Kompany are considering parting ways as the former Man City star is believed to be considering his future amid interest from Premier League clubs.

Brighton and Brentford are admirers of the Burnley boss and could make a move should they happen to lose their own managers this summer.

Championship duo in contention to replace Vincent Kompany at Burnley

Should Kompany leave Burnley, he will do so having delivered the Championship trophy and bringing a style of football that entertained the fans at Turf Moor. The Belgian will have overseen 96 matches with the Clarets once this season has concluded and there are two managers being considered to replace the 38-year-old.

According to TBR, Coventry City’s Mark Robins and Birmingham coach Ashley Cole are under consideration should Kompany leave.

A decision will likely be made at the start of the summer as it would give a new manager a full pre-season to prepare for life back in the Championship.

Having recently lost their FA Cup semi-final to Manchester United by the most miniscule of offside decisions, so tight in fact that it had to be reviewed by VAR, Coventry City are set to be dealt another bitter blow.

According to Football Insider sources, highly-regarded attacking midfielder, Callum O’Hare, has indicated to the club that he will leave them at the end of the current Championship campaign.

A poor run of recent form has seen the Sky Blues fall out of contention for a Play Off place, and another season in the English second-tier clearly doesn’t appeal to the 25-year-old.

Callum O’Hare to spark auction between Villa and West Ham?

To that end, a move away is certain, and the outlet suggest either a return to Aston Villa, where O’Hare learnt his craft, or a switch to West Ham United, is a possibility.

Both Premier League clubs have had reasonable enough seasons, with the Villains still pushing for a finish in the Champions League positions.

Callum O'Hare could sign for West Ham or Aston Villa
West Ham manager David Moyes and Aston Villa counterpart Unai Emery

Tottenham are seven points behind the Midlanders in the race for a top-four finish, and even if the Lilywhites win their two games in hand, they’ll be a point behind.

If Unai Emery can keep his side playing at their best level for their final three games, a place in the top-tier European competition next season is assured.

Considering where the club were when he took over from Steven Gerrard, that’s quite the feat.

West Ham have an outside chance of European football, but with David Moyes expected to leave, theirs is a project in transition once more.

Whilst no firm decision has been made by O’Hare at this juncture, if it was a straight choice between West Ham and Aston Villa, there are a number of reasons why the latter present a more attractive proposition.

Man United star Antony has taken to social media to explain his embarrassing actions during the Manchester club’s FA Cup semi-final win against Coventry on Sunday.

The Premier League club were inches away from being embarrassingly dumped out of the competition by the Championship side having surrendered a 3-0 lead in normal time, leading to extra time where the Sky Blues had a late goal chalked off by a VAR decision.

Man United would win the semi-final on penalties and following the shootout, Man United star Antony was spotted cupping his ear at the Coventry players, which led to heavy criticism of his actions from fans and pundits.

Many described his behaviour as embarrassing given the status of the two clubs and how the match played out, but the Brazilian has now taken to social media to explain why he did what he did.

Man United’s Antony explains Coventry City gesture

In the aftermath of the criticism, Antony has said that he performed the gesture as a result of the way Man United fans were treated by one of the Coventry players. It is unclear what that exactly was but the Brazilian believes he had the right to defend his club.

Antony posted on his X page: “Coventry proved why they reached the semi-final. We seeked this spot in the final for our fans and we achieved.

“The way our fans were treated by their player was not nice and I, in the heat of the moment, I’ve reacted to the provocations in a natural defence of my club.”

Either way, Antony’s actions were embarrassing and the winger deserved the criticism that came his way. Penalty shootouts are a very tough way to lose a match and it is not hard to show a bit of class to the opposition team once the deciding kick has been taken.

Fabrizio Romano admits he found it surprising to see Manchester United winger Antony making a gesture towards the Coventry City players after the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.

The Red Devils were hugely fortunate to edge past the Championship side and make it into the FA Cup final, having lost a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 before winning on penalties.

For Antony to then be goading the Coventry players afterwards seems a major error of judgement, and not the kind of behaviour you expect from players at a club like Man Utd.

Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column, Romano admitted he found it surprising behaviour from Antony, though he didn’t provide any further information on whether or not the Brazil international would be spoken to by anyone at the club.

Antony behaviour surprising, says Fabrizio Romano

Antony has not had a positive spell at Manchester United

“As previously mentioned, the Antony transfer situation could also be one to watch this summer, but I’ve also had some fans asking me about the club’s response to his gesture at Coventry City players after Sunday’s game,” Romano said.

“It was surprising to see that gesture but I wasn’t at the game so I don’t know exactly what happened, and I don’t really like to enter into these things, so I have no information on how the club have responded or if anyone will be having a word with him about it.”

One imagines MUFC fans won’t shed too many tears if Antony ends up leaving this summer.

Jeff Stelling believes Manchester United goalkeeper should not even have been on the pitch to win the FA Cup semi-final for the Red Devils.

United saw themselves take a comfortable 3-0 lead against Coventry City in what looked like a one-sided game. That is until the Championship side staged a remarkable comeback.

Coventry scored thrice in the final 25 minutes to cancel out goals from McTominay, Maguire and Bruno Fernandes.

Simms started that comeback with a goal on the half-volley, before O’Hare’s long-rage strike took a big deflection and looped over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

And in stoppage time, a handball from Wan Bissaka resulted in a penalty which Haji Wright expertly scored to take the game to extra-time.

Coventry did not stop there, they scored again the dying minutes of the extra-time only for the goal to be controversially disallowed by the VAR for offside, in what was a devastating moment for the club.

The game went to penalties which Manchester United ended up winning, Andre Onana coming out as the hero.

However, pundit Jeff Stelling claims that the goalkeeper should have been sent off earlier in the game.

Should Onana have been sent off in normal time?

The former Soccer Saturday host believes that Onana should have seen a red for time-wasting. He picked up a yellow late in normal time for deliberately delaying restart.

And right after the booking, he went behind the goal to drink water, further delaying the taking of a goal kick.

He told talkSPORT:

“By the way, just one thing that never gets mentioned, gets overlooked, I just want to say Andre Onana shouldn’t have been on the field for the penalty shootout.”

“He’s been given a yellow card after 85 minutes by Rob Jones. And what does he do? He goes behind his goal, picks up his water bottle, takes a drink of water.

“If Rob Jones had had any bottle, he’d have shown him another yellow card immediately because the goalkeeper was taking the mickey out of the referee.”

Coventry City’s FA Cup journey came to a dramatic halt at Wembley against Manchester United, leaving fans and players alike with a rollercoaster of emotions.

Mark Robins, the Sky Blues’ manager, couldn’t help but inject a bit of humour into the heartbreak, suggesting that perhaps a simple act of Haji Wright “cutting his toenails” could have changed the narrative.

After a breathtaking comeback from 3-0 down against Manchester United, Coventry found themselves on the brink of a historic FA Cup Final appearance. However, a VAR decision ruled Wright offside by the slimmest of margins, denying Victor Torp’s apparent winning goal in extra time.

Coventry striker "should have cut his toenails" Mark Robins jokes after gutwrenching offside call against Manchester United.
Mark Robins looks on as Coventry City push Manchester United all the way in a thrilling FA Cup semi-final.

Mark Robins’ reaction to Coventry City’s disallowed goal

Robins, never one to shy away from a witty remark, mentioned that had Wright trimmed his toenails, the outcome might have been different.

Robins, whose own exploits with Manchester United in 1990 are the stuff of legend, praised his team’s resilience and performance. Despite the disappointment, he emphasized the pride he felt in his players’ ability to claw their way back into the match, mirroring the fighting spirit of his own glory days.

Coventry City’s chief added in his post-match press conference: “Our performance will be spoken about for a long time. We are disappointed but we can’t be too down about it. For the last hour of the game we performed like Manchester United and that’s what I’m proud of.”

Coventry pushed Manchester United to the limit in the FA Cup semi-final

The match itself was a spectacle, with Coventry defying the odds after trailing 3-0. Goals from Ellis Simms and Callum O’Hare ignited hope, while Wright’s converted penalty forced the game into extra time. It was a testament to Coventry’s tenacity and refusal to back down against one of football’s giants.

Yet, as the match descended into a tense penalty shootout, Coventry’s nerves proved their undoing. Misses from O’Hare and Ben Sheaf dashed their dreams of reaching the final, leaving them with bittersweet memories of what might have been.

That’s now two penalty shootouts the Sky Blues have lost in the past season at Wembley, having fell to defeat in the Championship play-off final last term against Luton Town.

Manchester United advanced to the final of the FA Cup after defeating Coventry City 4-2 on penalties on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils appeared to be in control, comfortably leading 3-0 until the final quarter of the game, when the Championship side staged a dramatic comeback, scoring three goals in the last 20 minutes, including a 95th-minute equaliser.

The game went to extra-time and then the penalties, where Manchester United ultimately came out victorious.

Erik ten Hag’s side celebrated in full swing as Hojlund scored the winning penalty. However, Antony appeared to cross the line by taunting Coventry players during the celebration.

The Brazilian international, who came on as a substitute in the 66th minute, cupped his hand towards his ears in the direction of the opposition players.

Man Utd fans didn’t appreciate Antony’s behaviour at all and criticised him for it, with some even labelling the incident as a “disgrace,” stating that he doesn’t represent the values of a Manchester United player.

Coventry have came back from 3 goal down to make it 3-3 and take the game to extra-time.

Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire, and Bruno Fernandes had put Manchester United 3-0 and it looked like it would be a comfortable route into the finals for the Red Devils.

But Coventry had other plans. Simms started the comeback with a great finish in the 71st minute. 8 minutes later, O’Hare’s deflected shot looped past Onana making it 2-3.

And they continued to pressure United and were rewarded as a shot from Binks hit Wan-Bissaka’s arms, and the referee pointed to the spot.

Haji Wright stood up and calmly slotted it past Onana, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to complete the incredible comeback.

Watch the goal below:
