Newcastle United are closing in on the capture of Chelsea winger Noni Madueke.
According to a report from Football Insider, the 22-year-old is now close to joining Newcastle after agreeing personal terms with the club. Newcastle will be desperate to add a quality winger to their ranks this summer, and Madueke could prove to be a useful acquisition for them.
The likes of Jacob Murphy and Miguel Almiron were quite underwhelming last season and Newcastle needed to add more quality and depth on the flanks. The 22-year-old Chelsea player could prove to be the ideal acquisition if he can regain his form and confidence. He scored eight goals and picked up three assists last season.
The 22-year-old has not been a regular starter for Chelsea this past season and he could look to move on in search of regular playing time. Newcastle could certainly provide him with that platform and they have an ambitious project as well. The opportunity to join them will be quite attractive for the player.
Madueke has shown his quality with Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven in the past.
Chelsea paid around £29 million for the winger when they signed in January 2023. They will look to recoup their money for the player and it remains to be seen whether the Newcastle are ready to pay up.
Newcastle could use Noni Madueke
Newcastle are one of the wealthiest clubs in the country and they certainly have the financial muscle to get the deal done.
It will be interesting to see if they can plug the gaps in their squad this summer and improve the team sufficiently ahead of the new season.
They missed out on Champions League qualification last season and the Magpies will look to bounce back strongly in the upcoming campaign. They have quality attackers like Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon. Signing a quality right-sided winger could complete their front three for the foreseeable future.
