Leeds United have lost some of their key players this summer after they failed to win promotion to the Premier League.

The Whites have suffered on and off the pitch in recent times with the Championship club struggling financially after they lost the Play-off final against Southampton.

In the summer transfer window, Leeds have lost Archie Gray to Tottenham and Crysencio Summerville to West Ham United in big money moves, making their financial condition much better.

More players could leave the club before the transfer window shuts down at the end of the month.

Wilfried Gnonto is the latest player to be linked with a move away from Elland Road.

According to Graham Smyth of the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds have rejected a bid of £23m for Gnonto from Everton.

The Whites want to keep the player at the club but the Toffees hold long term interest in his services.

With Gray and Summerville leaving the club, it is hard to see Gnonto stay at the club, particularly when a Premier League club wants to sign him.

Gnonto deserves to play in the top flight of England and just like his former teammates, he should push for a move away from Elland Road this summer.

Wilfried Gnonto is once again pushing to leave Leeds United.

The Italian went on strike at the start of last season after failing to leave the club. However, eventually coming around following talks with manager Daniel Farke, Gnonto, 20, was able to be reintegrated before featuring in 44 games throughout the campaign.

However, following the recent exit of Crysencio Summerville, who was unveiled by West Ham on Saturday evening, Gnonto, according to recent reports, is also pushing to leave.

Despite being previously linked with Everton, the 20-year-old has so far failed to make the move but with suitors emerging in Serie A, a return to his homeland could be on the cards.

Wilfried Gnonto wants to leave Leeds United.

Italian trio Parma, Venezia and Genoa are all thought to be interested in signing the wantaway Verbania-born winger.

And while Leeds’ stance has yet to become clear, with the start of the season just five days away, Farke will be hoping the club can resolve his number 29’s future sooner rather than later.

Wilfried Gnonto’s days at Leeds United may be numbered with the forward the subject of interest from three Serie A teams, according to reports.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a positive 2023/24 campaign, registering nine goals and three assists in 44 appearances across all competitions to help the Whites finish third in the Championship.

However, Leeds were unable to secure promotion back to the Premier League, losing 1-0 to Southampton in the playoff final. And after refusing to play for the club at the start of last season, which resulted in disciplinary action, it’s understood he will once again look for a move away from Elland Road this summer.

Gnonto has been heavily linked with a number of Premier League clubs in recent months, including Newcastle United and Everton (per TEAMtalk).

Wilfried Gnonto of Leeds United looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Ipswich Town at Elland Road on December 23, 2023 in Leeds, England.

Gnonto to Serie A?

But now it looks like a return to his native Italy could be on the cards, with Inter Live reporting that Genoa are showing interest in Gnonto, alongside newly-promoted sides Parma and Venezia.

The report states that a loan with an option to buy is currently the most likely outcome, with the two promoted teams able to offer Gnonto the biggest guarantee of a starting berth.

Leeds have already completed a number of high-profile sales this summer, with the likes of Archie Gray, Luis Sinisterra and Glen Kamara departing for Tottenham, Bournemouth and Rennes, respectively.

Leeds United have lost a number of players this summer after they failed to win promotion to the Premier League.

Archie Gray has gone to join Tottenham this summer while Crysencio Summerville is heading to the London Stadium to join West Ham United.

Another key player is now considering leaving the Whites this summer in order to save his international career.

According to MilanLive.it, Wilfried Gnonto is attracting interest from Italian clubs Genoa and Parma.

The player is now ready to leave the club and move to Serie A in order to revive his international career.

After joining Leeds United in 2020, Gnonto played consistently and earned his place in the national team squad under former manager Roberto Mancini.

However, under current manager Luciano Spalletti, Gnonto has lost his place in the Italy national team.

The player is thinking about leaving Elland Road during this window since he wants to rejoin the Italy squad and he feels playing for Leeds United would make it difficult for him to earn a place in the national team.

Gnonto, who is prepared to quit Leeds, has caught the attention of both Genoa and Parma and they both are serious about signing him this summer.

His departure would take manager Daniel Farke back in the transfer market to search for his replacement.

It would be a massive blow to the Whites but if they could get a good amount for the player, they would happily take the offer.

The future of Wilfried Gnonto at Leeds United remains uncertain as Everton’s interest in the winger seems to have dropped off following the signing of Jesper Lindstrom.

The Toffees completed the loan-to-buy signing of Lindstrom from Napoli this week and with Jack Harrison also returning to Goodison Park on loan, the Merseyside club have plenty of options on the wings.

Everton have not been spending a lot of money this summer due to their financial issues but the recent £50m departure of Amadou Onana will have relieved some pressure on the Premier League side and they are likely to spend more money over the coming weeks.

One player the Blues have been linked with this summer is Leeds’ Gnonto but according to Sky Sports’ Alan Myers, that deal is unlikely to happen now following the arrival of Lindstrom.

The journalist wrote on his X account when responding to a fan’s question about the deal: “I’m not sure that one happens at this point, but who knows?”

Where will Wilfried Gnonto play next season?

Gnonto found himself with a mixed role at Leeds last season as Daniel Farke didn’t fancy the winger at the start of the campaign. The 20-year-old would go on to have a more prominent role during the second half of the term as the Yorkshire club pushed for promotion.

The youngster’s exit would not be the end of the world for the Championship club as they will likely receive a decent fee in return but the player staying could be beneficial given that the future of Crysencio Summerville is also uncertain.

Gnonto’s exit is not guaranteed and at present, the place where the 20-year-old will most likely play next season is Leeds.

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has praised the performances of both Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto following their friendly clash with Hannover 96 on Wednesday despite the duo being linked with moves to the Premier League.

The wingers have attracted a lot of attention from the English top flight following their displays last season, especially the Dutch star, with the 22-year-old producing 21 goals and 10 assists across 49 matches in all competitions.

Summerville was crowned The Championship Player of the Season for 2024 and according to Sky Sports, West Ham and Fulham are two clubs pushing for the Leeds star.

Despite being linked with moves away from Elland Road, both Summerville and Gnonto played in the Yorkshire club’s 4-1 win over Hannover on Wednesday and after that match, Leeds manager Daniel Farke admitted that he could lose both players before the transfer window shuts.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Farke admitted nothing can be ruled out, but is pleased with the application the duo have shown so far in pre-season

The German coach said about the futures of Summerville and Gnonto: “Yes, in football you can never rule out anything, so all is possible. For that I can’t give any guarantees as I am not a magician. I can just judge what I see and both are fully integrated, they are fun to be here, they work hard.

“Even today was a game the opponent tried to set some signs and the first target is always Summerville or Gnonto with many tackles. It showed maturity the way they handled it and how they kept going to bring themselves into good shape.

“So for that I just can judge what I see, I see hard work and commitment, great attitude and for that I am more than hopeful they chip in with top performances like last season.”

Leeds will likely receive big money for the sale of both players and if they are resigned to losing them, they should try and get deals done now. That would give the Championship side enough time to recruit their replacements and they can bring in quality as they will have the funds to do so.

Former Leed United player Carlton Palmer has told the club they will be doing good business if they can offload Wilfried Gnonto to Everton.

The Whites have sold a number of a players this summer while some have left in a loan move.

After they failed to win promotion to the Premier League, their squad has gone through a major overhaul under manager Daniel Farke.

The latest player who is likely to leave the club is Gnonto and Everton have been tipped to sign him this summer.

Palmer has claimed that Leeds could make a good amount of profit if they sell Gnonto to the Merseyside club.

Speaking to Football League World, he said:

“He’s still 20 years of age, so this would represent a good bit of business by Leeds United, who paid just £3.8million for Gnonto in 2022.

“I know Everton were in for him before and looking to pay £20million – then the fee dropped and Leeds weren’t interested in about £10–15million.

“Good business by Leeds, further reducing their wage bill, and giving them money to reinvest in the squad having already sold Archie Gray.”

Leeds have already lost Gray to Tottenham and now Gnonto is moving to Goodison Park.

Big changes can be expected now and between the start of the season as Leeds consider their options this summer.

Everton are on the brink of finalising a deal for Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto, according to the latest report from TEAMtalk.

Negotiations between the two clubs are reportedly progressing well, with Everton moving closer to meeting Leeds’ valuation.

The Blues are prepared to spend £20 million on Gnonto, while Leeds are holding out for £25 million.

It is suggested that a compromise could be reached with a £20 million fee supplemented by performance-related add-ons.

Gnonto, who expressed a desire to leave Leeds last season as well, ended up being forced to stay and played a pivotal role in their near-promotion campaign. He made 44 appearances, scoring 9 goals and providing 3 assists.

Everton’s longstanding interest in Gnonto

Everton’s interest in him is not new. There was interest from Everton for him last summer as well, who even made a bid for him which was ultimately rejected by Leeds who were holding out for £30m.

They were expected to return for him in January but the club got charged with financial breaches resulting in a 10 point deduction.

The player remains keen on a move to Goodison Park and it appears that a deal is close to now being agreed.

According to TeamTalk, Newcastle United are eyeing a move for Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto.

After a disappointing campaign last season, manager Eddie Howe is keen to strengthen his squad to ensure a better performance in the upcoming season.

The club could have to deal with potentially losing several players this summer.

Miguel Almiron is strongly linked with a move away, with clubs from Saudi Arabia showing interest in signing him.

Anthony Gordon has also linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks but the club are determined to keep hold of him.

Wilfried Gnonto to Newcastle?

It looks like it’s going to be quite the summer for Daniel Farke and Leeds United.

This time last year, the German was having to contend with the ambitions of new owners, 49ers Enterprises, alongside those players who didn’t see their immediate future at Elland Road.

That meant that Farke didn’t really have a settled side until mid-September, and yet he still came within a whisker of guiding them back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Summerville, Gnonto and Rutter all set to leave Leeds

That he didn’t has already been brought into sharp focus with forced sale of Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur.

With a family history at the club, it would surely been with a heavy heart that the club had to accept that their player would need to be sold.

If that wasn’t bad enough for Leeds fans to digest, it looks like there could be worse to follow.

Leeds United are preparing to lose all three of Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Wilfried Gnonto.
Leeds United are preparing to lose all three of Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Wilfried Gnonto.

According to Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the trio of Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Willy Gnonto are also all likely to follow Gray out of the exit door if acceptable bids are tabled for each of the trio.

Losing just one would be bad enough but if all three jump ship, that would severely weaken the Yorkshire club’s attempts to get promoted at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

Such is the fall-out from still being marooned in the English second-tier.

The outlet quote sources as saying the players believe that they have something to offer at the top level, rather than spending another season in the English Championship.

If Farke and his superiors are forced to accept that they’re powerless to keep the players, the best the club can hope for is that they maximise any transfer fee for each, allowing them to strengthen and give Leeds the best chance of promotion on this occasion.
