It has been a summer of uncertainty at Leeds United with a number of their players leaving the club.

After the Whites failed to win promotion to the Premier League, their players were linked with a move away from the club.

Archie Gray has left to join Tottenham and Crysencio Summerville has been signed by West Ham United.

Two of their key players have left the club and there could be more departures before the end of the transfer window.

Everton have shown interest in securing the services of Wilfried Gnonto but Leeds have stayed firm and rejected the approach from the Toffees.

However, according to journalist Graeme Bailey, there is another player who is more likely to leave the club than Gnonto.

In conversation with LeedsUnited.News, he said:

“It’s a bit similar to Gnonto, but I think Wober is more likely to go. I think Farke has said that, there is always a chance that Wober could leave. If he thought he was definitely staying, he is probably starting.

“He is a brilliant player, him in the Championship would be outstanding. It is one of those where if he stays, wonderful. I think he is more likely to go, though, from what I am hearing. But Leeds aren’t going to let him go for nothing.”

Leeds will come up against Portsmouth in their season opener at the weekend and they head into the new season with uncertainty over the future of some of their players.

Daniel Farke would be hoping that the transfer window shuts down soon so that he can focus on the football and leave the transfer stuff behind.

Leeds United remain at risk of losing defender Max Wober this summer.

The Austrian defender only joined Leeds from RB Salzburg in January 2023 but was allowed to leave for the Bundesliga on loan following their relegation from the Premier League last season.

Despite some injuries, Wober proved immensely popular at Gladbach during his 27 matches and impressed so much that he made the Austria squad for Euro 2024, playing three times.

Borussia Monchengladbach have made no secret of their desire to bring Wober back to Borussia-Park this summer. However, Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus recently declared the matter ‘on hold’ due to the German club not being able to meet Leeds’ terms.

“We are of course monitoring the market,” said the 57-year-old (via Football League World). “We cannot meet Leeds United’s demands and Leeds are not looking for a loan.

“That is why the matter is on hold for the time being.

Max Woeber of Leeds United celebrates following victory in the Premier League match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United at Molineux on March 18, 2023.

Gladbach not giving up on Wober?

Once again speaking publicly, Virkus now seems more optimistic about re-signing Wober, who he believes could become available again toward the end of the transfer window.

“Max Wobers might come back onto the market right at the end,” he said (via TEAMtalk). “Maybe they won’t play a role in their club or they’ll want to go somewhere else because there might be too many in the same position.”

Leeds have already completed a number of high-profile sales this summer, with Crysencio Summerville joining Archie Gray, Luis Sinisterra and Glen Kamara through the Elland Road exit door for handsome fees.

Leeds United defender Max Wober is set to leave the club this summer, with Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach showing keen interest in securing his services.

According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, Leeds are looking for a fee close to £10.2 million for the Austrian defender.

Borussia Monchengladbach want to re-sign Leeds United defender

Wober, who spent the last season on loan with Monchengladbach, made a significant impact, prompting the German club’s desire to re-sign him.

During his loan spell, Wober made 27 appearances, contributing two goals and three assists, demonstrating his value to the team.

Despite Monchengladbach’s interest, they find Leeds’ asking price too high and would prefer another loan move.

The club has informed Wober of their intention to re-sign him on loan, hoping to negotiate a deal that suits both parties.

Meanwhile, Leeds United have bolstered their defense by signing Joe Rodon from Tottenham on a permanent transfer following his impressive loan spell last season.

As the transfer window progresses, Wober’s future remains a topic of interest, with Monchengladbach eager to bring him back and Leeds looking to finalise the best deal for the club.

This summer is expected to be a busy one at Leeds United as the Yorkshire club have many issues to overcome ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

This term was a positive one for the Whites but they ultimately did not achieve their goal of returning to the Premier League at the first attempt.

This means that the Championship outfit will have to sell players during the transfer window in order to comply with financial fair play regulations with names such as Crysencio Summerville and Archie Gray attracting interest from teams in the Premier League.

Leeds will not want to lose these players, while on the other hand, stars the club do want to get rid of may be stuck at Elland Road due to their contracts.

Most of them have clauses to be signed permanently or to go out on loan again, but according to Leeds Live, Max Wober, Rasmus Kristensen and Diego Llorente do not have clauses in their respective contracts that allow them to leave on loan again, which is an issue for the Championship club.

Leeds United may be stuck with three unwanted players this season

Wober enjoyed a good season on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach but the Bundesliga side are unable to meet Leeds’ asking price for a permanent deal The Austria international has already admitted he does not know what his future holds and it will be interesting to see if other clubs come in for him, or if he stays at Leeds.

Kristensen and Llorente, meanwhile, were both together at AS Roma last term. The Serie A giants are still mulling over whether to complete a permanent deal for the latter, but the former will not be returning.

All this will be sorted if clubs try to sign the three stars permanently, but loan moves seem difficult given the terms of their contracts.

Several loanees from Leeds United are back, including Austrian defender Max Wober.

Wober has most recently been playing for Borussia Mönchengladbach, but the defender has no desire to decide his future before Euro 2024.

Following their relegation a little more than a year ago, Leeds lost eight first team players on loan due to clauses that the previous owners had included to their contracts.

Wober was one of many first-team players who were able to leave Elland Road on loan during the summer transfer window.

The Whites were negatively impacted by these exits since they were unable to bring in much, if any, money from the departures.

Wober, however, is unlikely to return to the German club because Gladbach are unwilling to match Leeds United’s asking price.

It shouldn’t matter too much, according to transfer insider Graeme Bailey, since several Bundesliga teams would be prepared to take him.

Leeds United defender Max Wober is likely to leave the club.

He told LeedsUnited.News:

“I think Wober will find another Bundesliga club to take him on loan, maybe to even buy him. He is a good player and too good for the Championship so I don’t think there will be an issue with him.”

It’s unclear where that puts Wober going forward, but for now, he is still a Leeds player and is one of several players facing an uncertain summer ahead.

Leeds United are set to go through major changes

The Austrian defender signed for the Whites in January 2023, but he was one of the few to leave the West Yorkshire team with any recognition after making 19 appearances across all competitions, mostly as a left-back or centre-back.

Leeds are now ready to let the player leave the club and they would be hoping to receive offers for the Austrian player.

A number of players could leave Elland Road this summer following the club’s failure to get promoted to the Premier League.

Max Wober is set to leave Leeds United this summer, but will delay any decision regarding his future until after Euro 2024.

The 26-year-old joined Borussia Monchengladbach on loan last summer following Leeds’ relegation to the Championship and impressed at the German club.

It’s now understood Gladbach want to make Wober’s loan permanent, but that there is still work for them to do when it comes to meeting Leeds’ asking price.

Foals sporting director Roland Virkus recently said: “We are in talks with everyone involved, of course, we would like to keep Max with us. But the demands are extremely high.”

Wober delays decision on future until after Euro 2024

Wober’s form in the Bundesliga this season — making 25 appearances and playing over 2,000 minutes — has earned him a place in Austria’s squad for the European Championships this summer.

The 23-time international’s focus is now solely on helping Austria make good on their ‘dark horse’ tag in Germany this summer. In fact, the centre-back has even instructed his agent not to contact him about potential offers until the tournament is concluded.

“My aim was to answer the club question before the Euros”, Wober told Austrian outlet Kleine Zeitung. “But it’s the way it is now.

“I’ve told my agent that he doesn’t need to call me or tell me anything for the next four weeks.

“I want to play the European Championships now. After that, we’ll see where it goes.”

On the importance of making the most of this summer’s international commitments, Wober added: “The Euros are a career highlight for me. My first international match and my first Champions League game are only topped by the European Championship.

“If I get to play, I want to enjoy it 100 per cent.”

Leeds United defender Max Wober is set to make his loan move to Borussia Monchengladbach permanent this summer, according to reports.

The Austrian defender only joined Leeds from RB Salzburg in January 2023 but was allowed to leave for the Bundesliga on loan following their relegation from the Premier League last season.

Despite some injuries, Wober — described by former Leeds boss Jesse Marsch as a ‘leader’ — has proven immensely popular at Gladbach during his 27 matches and has impressed so much that he now appears set to make Austria’s Euro 2024 squad.

According to Kronen Zeitung (via Sports Witness), Gladbach are keen to convert Wober’s loan into a permanent deal this summer as they look to improve on their 14th-place finish in the German top-flight in 2023/24.

Can Gladbach meet ‘extremely high’ Leeds demands?

Left-footed defenders are always a valuable commodity but Wober has proven particularly useful to Gladbach after filling in at left-back on multiple occasions, while obviously excelling in his preferred centre-back role.

One potential sticking point in any permanent transfer, however, is Wober’s price tag. According to an earlier report from German outlet Bild, Gladbach want to pay £7.7m for the 26-year-old, which is significantly below the £14.5m Leeds want for the defender.

Gladbach’s resolve will be tested, especially as Leeds seek to boost their coffers after losing the Championship playoff final to Southampton on Sunday, meaning they must endure another year outside the top flight.

But it’s clear the Foals want to keep Wober around, with sporting director Roland Virkus recently telling Bild: “We are in talks with everyone involved, of course we would like to keep Max with us. But the demands are extremely high.”

Leeds United head into the lottery of the Championship Play-Offs against Norwich City, hoping to emerge victorious and then beat one of either West Brom or Southampton in the final.

In so doing, they would join Leicester City in going straight back up to the Premier League at the first time of asking, and cement Daniel Farke’s status of being the main man when it comes to getting teams up from the English second-tier.

Quartet to leave Elland Road?

Regardless of whether they do go up or not, it appears that there are four players that the club would like to offload this summer.

According to The Telegraph (subscription required), the club are hopeful that the quartet of Diego Llorente, Marc Roca, Max Wober and Jack Harrison have done enough during their various loan spells to get themselves moves away.

That would free up some much needed funds in the kitty to allow Farke to go to work in the transfer market regardless of which division the all whites are in next season.

With only three games left of their Championship season, Leeds United remain just two points off top spot but agonisingly outside of the automatic promotion places.

A wobble at precisely the wrong time of the season has seen them win just one of their last five games in the English second-tier, and with two of their final three games against Middlesbrough and Southampton, it’s going to take a monumental effort from Daniel Farke’s side to nudge either Ipswich Town or Leicester City out of the top two spots.

The Foxes also have one game in hand complicating matters for the all whites even further.

Max Wober doesn’t know if Leeds will sell him or not

For the German and his first-team squad, however, they must remain positive and believe that there will still be more twists and turns before the final whistle sounds for the end of the 2023/24 season.

One player that won’t play any part in proceedings is Max Wober.

The 28-year-old joined Borussia Monchengladbach on loan after Leeds were relegated at the end of last season, however, he now finds himself in a state of limbo.

Leeds haven't made Max Wober's transfer a priority
Max Wober doesn’t know if he’ll be at Leeds or Borussia Monchengladbach next season

Clearly wanting to understand what the future holds for him, the player has heard nothing from either his parent club or his current club.

“I haven’t heard from Gladbach in a while, they will also be squad planning for next season,” he said to BILD (subscription required).

“I’m curious whether anyone from Gladbach will come to me – or from Leeds too.

“Nobody has talked to me yet. Leeds are in the middle of a promotion fight, they have better things to do at the moment than talking to their loan players about their future.”

If Leeds don’t make it back to the promised land at the first time of asking, there’s little chance that Wober will end up at Elland Road again, and maybe he won’t even if they do.

Gladbach have apparently previously indicated that they would like to retain the player on a permanent basis but as nothing has been forthcoming of late, it’s no wonder that the player himself is getting a little anxious.

Perhaps getting the season done and dusted is the order of the day as Wober indicates, and only then will transfer business be attended to.

Leeds United will not be bullied into selling Borussia Monchengladbach loanee Max Wober.

That’s according to a recent report from Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, who claims the Bundesliga side are hoping to sign the defender on a permanent deal at the end of the season.

Gladbach’s negotiations with Daniel Farke’s Whites are not straightforward though. The Championship side, who are just eight games away from winning automatic promotion back to the Premier League, are proving a tough outfit to convince.

Believed to be demanding just over £10 million for the out-of-favour German, Leeds United will not budge in their valuation.

What this could mean for Gladbach and Wober remains to be seen, but with top-flight English football a very real possibility next season, maybe the player won’t mind so much if he were forced to return to Yorkshire after all.
