Just like big changes have been made at Leeds United this summer following their failure to get promoted to the Premier League, similar changes have happened at Hull City.

The Tigers failed to finish in the top six of the Championship standings and since then, a number of players have left the club for a new chapter in their career.

Jaden Philogene and Jacob Greaves have been sold while players like Fabio Carvalho, Anass Zaroury, Tyler Morton and Liam Delap have returned to their respective clubs following the end of their loan spell.

The only constant thing at Leeds United is that they still have Daniel Farke as their manager.

Hull City have appointed new manager Tim Walter this summer and he has been given the responsibility to make changes at the club.

One of the players he is targeting is Leeds United target Liam Millar and going by the latest reports, the Tigers have won the race to sign the player.

Matthew Scianitti has claimed that the player is set to undergo a medical at Hull City after the Championship club agreed a fee of £3 million with FC Basel.

With Leeds not making a serious attempt to sign the player, it clearly shows that they are interested in signing Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe.

After losing Crysencio Summerville to West Ham United this summer, they need to replace him and they have already identified their target.

According to The Athletic, Leeds United are keeping an eye on Basel attacker Liam Millar of Canada during this year’s Copa America.

During the summer transfer window, Leeds United and Sheffield United are showing interest in Millar.

The former Liverpool player played for Preston North End in the Championship last season while on loan from swiss team Basel.

The Canada international, nevertheless, is anticipated to make a permanent return to England this summer.

For Ryan Lowe’s club, which finished 10th in the second division standings and missed out on a play-off spot by 10 points, Millar produced five goals and five assists.

Leeds may get the upper hand in the race to sign the player, who has made 96 appearances for Basel since July 2021, since he is eager to return to England.

Following their defeat against Southampton in the play-off final, the Whites failed to win promotion to the Premier League from the Championship and they are expected to strengthen their squad.

Millar can be Crysencio’s replacement at Leeds United

It is known that the Canadian’s contract, which is nearing its end, contains a release clause.

Last season, Millar solidified his position as a vital member of Lowe’s squad by winning praise for his efforts and winning over the fans.

With his versatility as a centre-forward and left winger, the 24-year-old may be the ideal addition if Crysencio Summerville were to depart Elland Road.

Liverpool have reportedly accepted a transfer bid for 21-year-old attacker Liam Millar, according to the Echo, the forward is now close to agreeing personal terms ahead of a switch to Basel.

The Echo report that Liverpool have accepted a seven-figure bid for the wide-man, with added that this was the second bid they received for the ace from the Swiss powerhouses.

Millar spent the second-half of last season on loan at Charlton Athletic, showing promise with three goals and six assists in 27 League 1 appearances.

The Echo detail that the Canada international is close to agreeing personal terms that would finalise the switch, with the acceptance of a bid from the Reds coming on Friday.

A transfer to Basel might surprise some as the Echo share that Championship sides were keen on Millar, who had previously experienced a loan spell with Kilmarnock in Scotland.

Basel certainly haven’t messed about when it comes to trying to secure the ace’s signature, they’ve met Liverpool’s demands pretty swiftly after having their first bid turned down at the start of the week.

Millar has only ever made on first-team appearance for the Reds, coming in the FA Cup win against Shrewsbury in 19/20 in which the Liverpool kids upset the odds to progress.

It’s claimed that Liverpool chiefs Michael Edwards and Julian Ward have rejected permanent transfer offers for Millar in the past, but it now seems like the club are prepared to let the ace go.

Millar will likely have the chance to establish himself as a key player pretty early on for the 20-time Swiss Champions, with the view to earning another shot in England or one of Europe’s top leagues in the future.

With talk of the offer being a ‘seven-figure’ one, Liverpool will net at least £1m for Millar which is relatively decent business for someone they snatched away from the academy of Fulham.

It’s been common in the past for clubs to stockpile fringe players and youngsters in the hope that some develop into starters, but that might not be the case now as they continue to struggle with finances after the Covid-19 pandemic.

It means a lot of teams will now look to go with a leaner first-team squad and they know there’s money to be raised by selling off those fringe players, but Liverpool could be set for a bigger clearout than most.

Our colleagues at Empire of the Kop have reported on those who could be moved on after a piece by The Athletic, and it looks like as many as nine players will be sold.

The more notable names are Marko Grujic, Xherdan Shaqiri, Harry Wilson and Divock Origi, while it’s expected that each player could be worth around £15m each so there could be £60m raised if all of that comes to fruition.

The other five are possibly more forgotten but Loris Karius, Ben Woodburn, Sheyi Ojo, Taiwo Awoniyi and Liam Millar will all have some kind of value in the transfer market, so if all nine players are moved on then it raises some serious cash for further business and it also clears plenty of room from the wage bill too.

The biggest need just now is finding a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum but there could also be some left over to add another exciting signing, but it all starts with trying to find destinations for those nine players who are out of favour.

Liverpool could reportedly be ready to offload as many as five players before the EFL transfer deadline in a major last-minute clear-out.

The Reds had a decent transfer window as they signed big names like Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota, but it remains to be seen if there could still be further changes to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Some departures to trim down the squad seem likely, with Goal reporting that Harry Wilson could be leaving, while Ben Woodburn, Herbie Kane, Liam Millar and Nat Phillips are also candidates for the exit door.

Liverpool seem unlikely to have much use for any of these players, so it might be a good idea to either loan them out or try making some money from selling them while the transfer window remains open for EFL clubs.

Of those players mentioned, Wilson has shown a lot of potential, but it seems like it won’t be enough to earn him more playing time at Anfield, partly due to the high quality competition ahead of him in Klopp’s team.

Woodburn also looked a big prospect at one point but had an underwhelming loan stint at Oxford United last season that perhaps shows he is still some way from being good enough for the LFC first-team.

In theory an extended deadline gives you much more time to do the work and everything should be completed early, but the majority of us will always leave it as late as possible.

That’s also been the situation with the transfer window this summer as it was open for longer, but most deals were left until the final days.

It’s likely that the current uncertainty in football has led to that, with many clubs looking to stockpile players until they can see how things might pan out.

A lot of Premier League sides still have bloated squads so it makes sense to loan some of those players out for now, but the domestic deadline hits this Friday so they will need to get a move on.

A report from The Mirror has indicated that Liverpool are expected to take advantage of that as they try to trim their squad, and as many as five players could be on the move.

Harry Wilson will probably be the biggest name as the report confirms that he had a lot of Premier League interest this summer, but Liverpool couldn’t agree a permanent deal with anyone so he’s still there.

That means a loan move to the Championship looks likely, and they also confirm that his international teammate Ben Woodburn could join him in making a temporary switch, but he could be looking at League One level clubs.

The other three are Liam Millar, Herbie Kane and Nat Phillips who have all had impressive loan spells recently, but they aren’t anywhere near the first team so this makes sense for them too.

There isn’t long to go and some of them are on international duty so that could complicate things, but it does look like all five are set for a loan move in the next few days.
