Ryan Fraser, who enjoyed a successful loan spell with Southampton, has reportedly agreed terms with a newly promoted side, but the move is yet to be finalised.

Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden has been spotted training in the Middle East as he prepares to leave the club this summer.

Hayden joined Newcastle back in 2016 from Arsenal and has made 171 appearances and scored ten goals for the Magpies.

The 29-year-old still has two years left on his contract but hasn’t featured for the club since 2021, and has been frozen out of the first team.

Hayden preparing to leave Newcastle

Hayden spent last season on loan at both Belgian club Standard Liege and Queens Park Rangers, whilst he also spent the 2022/2023 season on loan at Norwich.

The midfielder made ten appearances in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League without scoring or assisting, and made 17 appearances in the Championship for QPR without registering any goal contributions.

Hayden has been out in Qatar and took to Instagram to show that he has been training hard ahead of the new season.

Hayden spent part of last season on loan at QPR.

Newcastle World report that the Magpies could look to terminate Hayden’s contract which means they wouldn’t get a transfer fee for the player.

QPR are believed to be interested but the report adds that the terms must be right for them if they are to do a deal.

Newcastle World state that like last season Hayden will train away from the first team when pre-season training begins if a move away hasn’t been sorted.

Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden has given a big hint regarding his future in the North East beyond this summer.

The 29-year-old Newcastle United midfielder, Hayden, is currently on loan at Championship side Queens Park Rangers and has made 11 appearances since his loan switch back in January.

Hayden, who joined St James’ Park in 2016, slipped down the hierarchy under Eddie Howe due to consecutive knee injuries.

Finding success at QPR, he’s now willing to make his move permanent, showing interest in joining the Hoops. He revealed in a recent interview with Newcastle World.

“It’s a situation where myself and the club [Newcastle] will have to sit down in the summer and discuss what they want to do. I had to take a pay-cut to go to QPR, which I was happy to do for the last few months of the season, to get games.

“But it’ll be back to square one in the summer but hopefully I can help keep QPR up and would love to stay here if possible.”

The former England youth international has made a total of 171 appearances for the Magpies, but he may never get the chance to add to that tally.

It does seem very likely that Newcastle will part ways with Hayden in the summer. The midfielder has not featured in the Premier League for Newcastle since the 2020/21 campaign, and even then he only managed 14 appearances.

His last competitive game in a black and white shirt came against Manchester City back in December 2021 where he was on the end of a 4-0 thumping.

Newcastle are set to welcome Isaac Hayden back to the Tyneside club as the Magpies plan to terminate his loan spell at Standard Liege.

That is according to Football Insider, who reports that the defensive midfielder will return to Newcastle during the current transfer window before joining a Championship side for the second half of the 2023/24 campaign.

Hayden joined Standard Liege last summer and has appeared 11 times for the Belgian club so far this season. The 28-year-old came close to joining Luton Town during the summer window before a move to the Hatters collapsed, with a switch to Sheffield Wednesday also falling apart a few days later.

It remains to be seen where Hayden will go this month and if the Owls are still interested. The player has no future at Newcastle as the midfielder hasn’t kicked a ball in a black and white shirt for more than two years, with his last appearance for the Premier League club coming in a 4-0 defeat to Man City back in December 2021.

The 28-year-old is currently on loan with Belgium side, Standard Liege, after joining the club in the summer.

The player has since hit back at these remarks on X, labelling them as ‘nonsense’.
