Chelsea star set to return to Huddersfield on loan

Chelsea youngster Tino Anjorin is edging closer to a return to Huddersfield after spending the second half of last season on loan at the Championship club.

Anjorin joined Huddersfield in January on loan, helping them to secure a place in the Championship final.

Unfortunately, Huddersfield failed to gain promotion to the Premier League, and they’re now close to re-signing Anjorin on loan next season.

That’s according to Adam Newson, who claims Anjorin could have some unfinished business at Huddersfield.

Chelsea loanee Tino Anjorin scored a brilliant late equaliser for Lokomotiv Moscow against Marseille in tonight’s round of Europa League fixtures.

As reported by Eurosport in the summer, Anjorin signed for Lokomotiv Moscow on an initial loan deal with an option to buy for £17m. Chelsea would have the option to re-sign him for £34m, were he to head to Russia on a permanent basis.

The Blues have done all they can to ensure that they hold the cards when it comes to Anjorin’s future, while also allowing him time abroad to develop and work on his game.

Anjorin made an appearance for Lokomotiv Moscow in their Europa League group opener against Marseille tonight, and manager Marko Nikoli? will be glad they he did.

According to Telegraph reporter Matt Law, Frank Lampard is set to start two teenagers in the Champions League this evening.

Chelsea’s impressive 4-0 victory away to Sevilla last week ensured that they would progress to the knockout stages of the competition as group winners.

There’s an added bonus in that, with Chelsea now only able to draw teams that finished second in their groups. While the opposition will still be strong, they’ll avoid the Bayern Munich’s and Barcelona’s of Europe.

The win in Seville also means that tonight’s game is a dead rubber, making it the perfect opportunity for Lampard to rotate and give some of his fringe players an opportunity to shine.

We’re currently seeing a lot of news stories where player’s contracts are under question and pay cuts may be required, so it’s unusual to see a club tie someone down to a new long term deal.

That could show how much Chelsea believe in youngster Tino Anjorin as The Independent reported that he was close to signing a new long term deal at Stamford Bridge.

They also state that he had more than a year left on his old contract, but Chelsea are particularly keen to tie him down.

It’s reported that Chelsea and talented starlet Tino Anjorin are making progress in talks over a new contract to commit his long-term future to the club.

The 18-year-old has made his breakthrough this season having made two appearances for the senior side, while he’s bagged 11 goals and six assists in 23 appearances at youth level.

With Frank Lampard handing a number of the club’s youth products a chance to impress this season, Anjorin will no doubt be hoping to follow the path the likes of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Billy Gilmour and Fikayo Tomori have taken.

His current contract is set to expire in 2021, which could be a cause for concern as he edges towards the last 12 months of the deal, but there is reportedly promising news for Chelsea fans.

As per Goal.com, and re-reported by The Sun, the two parties are making progress in contract talks, although they’re not quite there yet in terms of a full agreement on all the details involved.

Nevertheless, it’s a positive update in the sense that they’re seemingly moving in the right direction to continue together, rather than run the risk of parting ways this summer to avoid the threat of seeing him leave on a free transfer in 2021.

Perhaps initially forced upon Lampard due to their transfer ban, the strategy to give the club’s youngsters a chance to impress has paid off to an extent this season.

If Chelsea can find the right balance by bringing in experience in the transfer market to complement the talented youth coming through, it could lead to a sustained level of success in the coming years.

Time will tell whether or not Anjorin is part of that plan, but certainly based on the report above, it sounds as though Chelsea are moving closer towards tying him down to a new deal rather than facing the disappointment of losing a top talent with plenty of potential.

The next couple of transfer windows should be fascinating for Chelsea. Frank Lampard has done a wonderful job of bringing the young players into the team, but that’s mainly because he had to.

He was operating under a transfer ban so that ensured any gaps in the team had to be filled with youngsters, and they’ve done well so far. The ban is now lifted and Chelsea do have a history of signing players rather than promoting youth, so we should find out how committed they are to their youth system.
