Wolves are ready to sell Portuguese forward Fabio Silva this summer, with clubs from Spain, Germany and Italy reportedly interested.

Silva joined Wolves from Porto in 2020 as an 18-year-old for what was at the time a club record £35.6m fee (per BBC Sport).

However, Silva has failed to adjust to English football, notching just five goals and six assists in 72 appearances for Wolves across all competitions. Instead, the Portugal youth international has enjoyed more success out on loan at the likes of Anderlecht, PSV and, most recently, Rangers.

Wolves have already strengthened their striker options this summer with the signing of Jorgen Strand Larsen on loan from Celta Vigo, while Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan both enjoyed strong 2023/24 campaigns with 12 Premier League goals each.

Now, according to Fussball Transfers (via Get Football News Germany), Bundesliga side Wolfsburg are interested in Silva and are considering a bid this summer after monitoring him since January.

Fabio Silva of Rangers celebrates after he scores his team’s opening goal during the Cinch Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Kilmarnock at Ibrox Stadium on May 05, 2024 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Alongside Wolfsburg, La Liga sides Valencia and Espanyol are named as admirers of Silva, as are Genoa of Serie A.

Wolves are through to be realistic about how much they can recoup from their initial outlay for SIlva and may accept half (£17.8m) of what they paid for him four years ago.

The rumours regarding Silva’s future at Molineux come off the back of fellow Portuguese forward Pedro Neto completing a lucrative move to Chelsea, while Max Kilman also left to join West Ham earlier this summer.

Wolves begin their 2024/25 Premier League campaign away at Arsenal on Saturday.

Pedro Neto has been pictured in the stands at Stamford Bridge ahead of Chelsea’s official announcement actually being made.

See below as Nizaar Kinsella of the BBC shares a snap of Neto in attendance for today’s Chelsea game as they prepare to take on Inter Milan in a pre-season friendly and unveil their latest of many summer signings while they’re at it…

Neto has been a top performer for Wolves and looks an exciting new addition for Chelsea, who have mostly signed younger and less proven players this summer.

The Blues have been building a long-term project under their current owners, and that has meant the club’s fans have had to be patient as some of their young players like Mykhailo Mudryk, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo have taken a bit of time to really hit their stride.

Neto, however, gets the balance right as he’s young but has already played a lot of football in the Premier League, so should have little trouble hitting the ground running for his new club.

One imagines this picture of Neto means an official club statement is now just imminent, as everyone can plainly see that the 24-year-old is in west London with his new team.

Pedro Neto has arrived in London and will undergo a medical on Saturday ahead of his move to Chelsea according to Fabrizio Romano.

It’s been a busy summer at Stamford Bridge and as well as a new manager the Blues have made a number of signings in an attempt to strengthen their squad and qualify for the Champions League.

Chelsea are reportedly in the market for a striker and a winger, and after agreeing a deal worth £35m with Atletico Madrid for striker Samu Omorodion they have moved quickly to secure another attacking signing.

Neto to have Chelsea medical on Saturday

In news which seemingly came out of nowhere it was reported on Friday that Chelsea had agreed a deal with Wolves to sign Portugal international Neto for €60m with a further €3m in add ons.

The Blues managed to keep the deal from the media until it was virtually done and it came as a surprise to many, not least Chelsea fans.

Romano has provided an update on Neto and reported the Portugal international is now in London and will undergo his medical on Saturday.

He took to X.com and said:

“Pedro Neto has arrived in London, medical tests booked on Saturday as new Chelsea player.

“Understand Neto will sign contract valid until June 2030 plus option for further season. #CFC believe he’s perfect to play on both wings, flexible and talented to add quality.”

Neto had been attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs including the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal, but he’s now closing in on a move to Chelsea.

Reports have suggested both Chelsea and Spurs had player plus cash deals rejected before Chelsea agreed a straight cash deal with Wolves.

Ben Jacobs has reported that the players Chelsea offered were Trevoh Chalobah and David Datro Fofana.

Neto is a top talent and at 24 years of age there’s plenty of room for improvement, although the one concern is his injury record which has seen him miss 102 games over the past four seasons.

The winger made 20 Premier League appearances last season, scoring two goals and providing nine assists and Chelsea’s biggest task will be keeping him fit.

Tottenham Hotspur are considering selling winger Manor Solomon this summer, with interest from three Premier League clubs.

According to TBR Football, Brighton, Leicester City, and Wolves have all expressed interest in signing Solomon.

While Tottenham are open to selling the 24-year-old on a permanent deal, the report suggests that an initial loan with an option to buy next summer is the most likely outcome.

The interest in Solomon is not limited to the Premier League. Clubs from Spain and Germany are also monitoring the situation, potentially setting up a competitive market for the winger.

Manor Solomon’s time at Tottenham marred with injuries

Solomon joined Tottenham on a free transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk but has struggled to make an impact at the North London club due to injuries.

A meniscus injury in his right knee kept him sidelined for much of the season, limiting him to just 198 minutes across five Premier League appearances, during which he managed to provide two assists.

Despite these setbacks, Solomon’s previous performances for Shakhtar, where he scored 22 goals and provided 9 assists in 106 appearances, make him an attractive target for mid-table Premier League clubs looking to bolster their attacking options.

Tottenham’s openness to a sale stems from the potential financial benefit. Since Solomon was signed on a free transfer, any sale would result in a pure profit for the club, which could be a motivating factor in their willingness to negotiate.

Manchester City are reportedly weighing up whether or not to target a replacement for Julian Alvarez in attack, with Wolves winger Pedro Neto mentioned as one name they’ve looked at.

In his Daily Briefing column, Fabrizio Romano explained that Man City could be a bit creative with their work in the transfer market to replace Alvarez, who is closing in on a move to Atletico Madrid.

Romano has suggested that City could look at a winger or false nine instead of a direct replacement for Alvarez, and it’s interesting to see that Neto is someone they’re keen on, as per the Telegraph.

The Portugal international has been a little injury prone in recent times, but has otherwise shone during his time in the Premier League and looks like someone who could make the step up to playing for one of the big six clubs in England.

There could now be an opening for him at Man City next season, once Alvarez’s move is finalised, and depending on Pep Guardiola’s plans for Savio, who has joined from Troyes.

Neto transfer: Can Man City win the race for his signature?

One imagines Neto will have plenty of suitors this summer, so it remains to be seen if any other clubs will emerge ahead of MCFC in the race for his signature.

Sources recently told CaughtOffside about interest from Arsenal and Tottenham, but that’s yet to materialise into anything more concrete.

Pedro Neto to Manchester City?

Wolves surely won’t want to lose such an important player, but many key figures at the club will also surely accept there’s only so long they can keep an immense attacking talent of this calibre.

There’s also surely an opportunity for big money to be made by cashing in on someone like Neto, and in this era of strict Financial Fair Play regulations, it might prove to be too good for Wolves to turn down.

Manchester United have reportedly stalled in talks over the potential transfer of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, so are looking at the likes of Atalanta star Ederson and other alternatives.

The Brazilian has impressed in his time in Serie A, as well as in last season’s Europa League as he played a part in Atalanta emerging as surprise winners of the competition.

Ederson is now being linked with Man Utd by HITC, who also report that Premier League duo Joao Gomes and Danilo, of Wolves and Nottingham Forest, respectively, also being considered.

Still, the report notes that one issue with Ederson is that Atlanta are unlikely to sell another key player this summer, with Teun Koopmeiners a top target for Juventus.

There are some other fine players out there, however, and it shouldn’t be hard to find someone who’d be quite a considerable upgrade on the ageing and under-performing Casemiro.

Ederson transfer: What else has been said about the Atalanta midfielder?

Ederson to Manchester United or Liverpool?

Ederson’s fine form has also previously seen him linked with Liverpool by Give Me Sport, while Fabrizio Romano also spoke exclusively to CaughtOffside about the Reds’ interest in the 25-year-old, which seemingly never got anywhere particularly advanced.

“Liverpool made contact with his (Ederson’s) agents weeks ago but never started any negotiation, they didn’t send a bid so far, there are no talks ongoing at this stage,” Romano said.

“We have to see if they will include Ederson in their shortlist or not, it’s really early for this and there are no meaningful changes to the situation so far. Atalanta, meanwhile, don’t want to lose both Ederson and Koopmeiners.”

Meanwhile, speaking in an interview with AS, Ederson admitted he’s curious about the possibility of playing in the Premier League.

“I don’t know, I’ve thought about it a lot, I like Italy, I’m well adapted, but I’m curious about the Premier League, so I don’t know,” Ederson said.

“I’m still growing, so I don’t know if I’ll stay in Italy, I think I still have more to prove. If I go somewhere else, then too. I will continue to grow.”

Manchester United are working on alternative midfield targets after walking away from a deal to sign Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Red Devils’ refusal to meet Paris Saint-Germain’s £51 million asking price for the Uruguay international has seen them recently leave negotiations in favour of pursuing more cost-effective targets (David Ornstein).

Joao Gomes wanted by Man United as Casemiro exit rumours intensify

And according to a report from Football Transfers, one of the players under consideration by INEOS and sporting director Dan Ashworth is Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes.

The 23-year-old, previously of Brazilian side Flamengo, has been at Molineux for 18 months. He enjoyed a decent individual campaign last season, and, with his tenacious style of play which includes playing as a number eight or six, continues to live up to his “The Pitbull” nickname.

Joao Gomes is a transfer target for Man United.
Joao Gomes in action for Wolves.

Gomes’ rise in English football would have come as little surprise to manager Gary O’Neil.

Gary O’Neil won’t want to lose ‘very, very talented’ Gomes

Speaking to the club’s website about the South American in June, the 41-year-old boss, who was appointed Wolves boss 12 months ago, said: “There’s a lot of players who’ll speak a similar language and his English is good, and he’s a hungry, humble, honest, hardworking kid who is very, very talented.”

However, irrespective of O’Neil’s admiration, Gomes is now viewed as a possible replacement for Casemiro, who remains heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia. There is a belief that the midfielder would be available for £38 million — a figure far less than Urgate.

Elsewhere, there is also uncertainty surrounding the long-term future of Scott McTominay. The Scotland international is a target for Fulham and could still leave before the close of the window.

Gomes, also linked with Liverpool, is a contender to replace either, or both, departing United midfielders. The Brazilian, born in 2001, has up to five years left on his contract.

Newcastle are focusing on strengthening their defence, working with particular emphasis on landing a new goalkeeper and centre-back.

Burnley’s James Trafford is gaining more and more importance for the club according to CaughtOffside sources, and this week will be important for his possible arrival.

That’s because the Magpies will present an offer of around £22m for the Englishman, who has already agreed personal terms with the club.

Newcastle set for transfer spending spree

Add-ons in this deal will play a crucial role in getting closer to Burnley’s demands.

Regarding a new centre-back, internal evaluations are still being made.

Malick Thiaw is still on the Magpies’ list, but the Premier League outfit has doubts about the player’s physical condition, particularly in light of the price tag set by AC Milan; £35m.

This aspect of the potential transfer is making Newcastle lean toward other targets and Marc Guehi is currently the preferred name.

Crystal Palace are willing to listen to any offers for the England international, as long as they are priced north of £50m.

Vitao from Brazilian outfit, Internacional de Porto Alegre, is another profile under the radar, and he has been proposed to the club through intermediaries CaughtOffside sources have learned.

West Ham have also approached the player who already has an agreement in principle with Real Betis.

If Newcastle can stay within the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), they will also get to work on landing a new winger.

Pedro Neto and Oscar Bobb are the top names on their list, with Noni Madueke and Johan Bakayoko in in the race to play alongside Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.

The latter, despite many rumours, is discussing the renewal of his contract with the Magpies.

A ball hasn’t yet been kicked in the 2024/25 Premier League season, but North London giants, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, are already in a head-to-head battle.

According to well placed CaughtOffside sources, the reason for the same is that both clubs are keen to persuade the same target to join them this summer.

Wolves winger, Pedro Neto, despite proclaiming that he’s happy at the club, would earn them a cool £60m if they were to realise a sale, and he remains on the transfer list of the English top-flight giants.

Spurs coach, Ange Postecoglou, believes the Portuguese winger can be a very useful addition for Tottenham, and sources indicate that club representatives recently met with the player’s inner circle to receive information about his situation.

For his part, Mikel Arteta wants a winger to be signed who can provide back up to Bukayo Saka, and the Portuguese star fits that description.

Given that Neto appears ready to sign for a club where he can get guarantees of enough playing time, that would appear to rule out the Gunners if he’s only seen as a Saka substitute.

Both Spurs and Arsenal do have competition too. Newcastle United continue to be linked and the Magpies have already held talks with the player’s entourage.

Wolves are in no rush to sell, though an offer in the region of £55m-£60m will tempt them to think again.

Still time for North London giants to land Neto

If received early enough, it would also allow the Midlands-based outfit to strengthen in other areas of the squad.

Whilst that will appease the money men at the club, manager, Gary O’Neil, might not be as happy, given the amount of work Neto gets through in a game and the chances that he creates for himself and his team-mates.

With a few weeks left of the transfer window, there’s plenty of time to get a deal over the line.

As the transfer market begins to heat up, CaughtOffside sources understand that Spanish top-flight team, Villarreal, are looking to plunder Premier League outfit, Wolverhampton Wanders, for two of their players.

Coach of the Yellow Submarine, Marcelino, is believed to be specifically targeting a striker and a winger, with the latter also able to operate as a second striker when needed.

That is seemingly what’s led to the interest in Wolverhampton’s 27-year-old Portuguese player, Goncalo Guedes, who as AS report was once a target for Catalan giants, Barcelona.

Premier League club Wolves set to lose two

CaughtOffside sources indicate that the Midlands-based side have set a reasonable price tag of around €20m for Guedes, though manager, Gary O’Neil, hopes to begin the 2024/25 Premier League season with the Portuguese still part of his squad.

It’s understood too that Marcelino is running the rule over 23-year-old Colombian defender, Yerson Mosquera, who Wolves have yet to place a value on, simply because O’Neil can’t countenance the thought of losing him.

Molineux Stadium, home of Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers

Villarreal would test the waters with an opening offer of €9m says sources.

Though losing either player is clearly going to impact on Wolves’ ambitions, if they’re able to bring in a decent amount in transfer funds, it would allow O’Neil to go on a late window spending spree, where there’s likely to be a few bargains to be had.

With almost a month left of the summer window, that would still give the manager a chance to bring new faces into the side without upsetting the team dynamic and dressing room equilibrium.

Transfer deadline day is always exciting for the fans, however, last-minute captures for clubs – some two weeks after the season has started – can rarely be considered good business, particularly if a club has been using the same system and personnel for the majority of pre-season.
