Endrick will go to Real Madrid once Brazil’s Copa América run ends. However, the teenager is already getting a taste of the Barcelona-Real Madrid rivalry during the contest between Brazil and Uruguay.

The Real Madrid youngster is in the starting 11 for Brazil as he replaces Vinicius Jr., but during the contest, Endrick was shoved either inadvertently or intentionally by Barcelona defender Ronald Araújo. The cheap shot was probably a way to get under the player’s skin or throw him off his game in such a crucial matchup.

The 2024 Copa America has been a rollercoaster ride for Brazil, as they had one win and two draws in the group stage. As a result, Dorival Júnior and his team finished in second place and now have a challenging opponent in the quarterfinals: Uruguay.

Moreover, it’s not that they have to face a Uruguayan team that went perfect in the group stage, they have to do so without their star player, Vinicius Junior. In the contest against Colombia, the Real Madrid standout received a yellow card, his second of the group stage.

Ahead of Saturday’s contest, Júnior announced on Friday that he intends to replace the Real Madrid player with another Real Madrid player: Endrick.

“Raphinha, Endrick, and Rodrygo,” Júnior said (h/t TyC Sports). “I hope we can continue finding the path to goals. The team’s work revolves around providing forwards with goal-scoring opportunities. It won’t be different. We lose an important player but we find a player who seeks opportunities.”

Manchester United standout Facundo Pellistri revealed how Uruguay intends to play against Enrick and the Brazilian team. Even though the squad is facing challenges, Brazil still have high-profile names who can harm La Celeste in the attack and defense.

“We know that our style is one of pressure and that the matches are intense,” Pellistri said (h/t TyC Sports). “We want to be protagonists and sometimes you have to be in places that are not so usual, but that’s something to take advantage of.

“It’s my role to assume a position further back because it’s normal in modern football for the opposing full-backs to attack. However, these are moments in the game that you have to know how to take advantage of. It’s going to be a beautiful game to play.”

Brazil have a 1-0 advantage over Colombia, and should the result hold or if they finish in second place, the Seleção will be without their best player, Vinicius Jr., after he received his second yellow card of the group stage.

Former Everton standout James Rodríguez attempted to pass the Real Madrid star, and as he was about to bypass the Brazilian, the Colombian ace received a smack to the face. As a result, the referee handed Vinicius a yellow card, his second, and he will be suspended for the knockout stage contest should they advance.

With a 1-0 lead over Colombia, Vinicius would miss the match against Panama if the result holds.

Gareth Southgate has spoken on the expectation surrounding Jude Bellingham saying “he’s coped so well at a young age” as England prepare to get their Euro 2024 campaign underway.

The Three Lions arrived in Germany on Monday and have spent the past week preparing for their opening game against Serbia on Sunday night.

England no doubt boast one of the best squads in the tournament, but Southgate and the squad will know that talent alone isn’t enough as they aim to go one step better than Euro 2020 and get their hands on the trophy.

Southgate: Bellingham has coped so well at a young age

Central to England’s hopes is likely to be Real Madrid star Bellingham who comes into the tournament having shone in his debut season in the Spanish capital.

The 20-year-old played a key role as Madrid won a La Liga and Champions League double, and if England are to have success in Germany the midfielder will likely have a big part to play.

Bellingham will likely play a key role for England at Euro 2024.

A lot of expectation has been put on Bellingham in the build up to Euro 2024, and speaking in his pre match press conference ahead of the Serbia game Southgate said the Madrid man  has a “fantastic mindset and the ability to adapt.”

“From my perspective, he’s a young player and one of a number of very important players in the team at Real Madrid,” he told reporters.

“In this team, that load is spread, he has a fantastic mindset and the ability to adapt.

“He has coped so well at a young age, he’s come into our squad and moved to the biggest club in the world.

“We have a responsibility as a team for all of our players, it’s great to have the talented players that we have but the onus is on everyone to do their part.”

Bellingham is likely to play in the number ten role that he played in for the majority of last season with Madrid, but Southgate does have the option to play him deeper alongside Declan Rice if he wishes to play Phil Foden centrally.

England would end their 58-year wait for a trophy if they were to be successful in Germany, and it certainly feels well overdue.

Bernardo Silva has admitted Manchester City are motivated by creating a legacy as they chase down back to back trebles.

City continue their Champions League defence tomorrow night against Real Madrid in the second leg of their quarter final, with the tie finely poised at 3-3 after the first leg in Spain.

Silva will likely return to the starting line-up having been rested for the 5-1 win against Luton last weekend.

City motivated by creating a legacy

The Portugal international insisted he hadn’t thought about lifting all three trophies again, but did reveal the impact of repeating the treble is not lost on the squad.

The 29-year-old admitted a bad week against Los Blanco’s, Chelsea and Brighton means City’s season could effectively be over.

Bernardo Silva scored twice as City beat Real Madrid 4-0 at the Etihad last season.

“I’m not surprised no because this group has proven throughout the years that we are capable of getting to the final month of the season fighting for all the competitions”, Silva said in quotes picked up by Mail Sport.

“Now it is where all the tough things start because it is not easy. That is why only two teams won the Treble in English football because it is not easy.

“We are very happy to be in a position where we can fight for all of them, knowing it is not easy, our opponents are really good and it is another big challenge for us.

“Obviously there is inspiration and motivation, we know how well this team has done and we want to create that legacy. To do another Premier League, six in seven years and four in a row, and we want to win the Champions League to do two in a row.

“I think that only Madrid did it, three in a row, but no one else won four consecutive Premier Leagues and if we win two Trebles in a row that would be legacy.

“A team that won a treble comes back on a bit of a hangover, to have that hunger to go every three days it is not easy.”

Madrid arrive at The Etihad having never won there and will be looking for revenge after being thrashed 4-0 last season.

“In one week we could be out of all the competitions”, Silva added.

“We are fighting for it. We still have the feeling that at home we are very strong with our people.

“After what happened the season before when we were knocked out by Real at the Bernabeu, we wanted to put things right and that performance was also a bit of an apology to our fans for what happened. We felt we owed them another chance to win the competition.”

The former Monaco man is likely to play a key role for Pep Guardiola’s side and has made 40 appearances in all competitions, scoring ten goals and providing five assists.

Manchester City loanee Joao Cancelo has hinted at a permanent exit from the club.

Currently, the Portugal international is spending the second half of the 2022/2023 campaign on loan with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

There was speculation regarding his deadline day exit from the Etihad, but the player and Pep Guardiola stressed there were no hard feelings involved in Cancelo’s departure.

The 28-year-old had been a standout performer for City in recent seasons, playing a pivotal role in their back-to-back Premier League winning campaigns.

Cancelo hints at future

However, Cancelo could be looking to seal a permanent move away from England this summer when his loan spell reaches its end. According to Movistar via Fabrizio Romano, the defender said: “I’ve not received any proposal from Real Madrid in January, no… if rumours say so, I don’t know.

“If a club like Real Madrid wants you, it’s a pleasure — it also means I’m doing the right things”.

There is also a chance Bayern could try and keep him beyond the summer if he impressed over the next five months.

If that is the case, Guardiola will likely be on the market for a fullback in the next transfer window.
