Odds on Frank Lampard being the next England manager have been slashed after a flurry of bets recently as the national team looks for a replacement for Gareth Southgate.
The former Chelsea and Everton manager has quickly gone from 20/1 for the job to just 10/1, so it could be that there’s the growing feeling that he’s becoming more and more of a serious contender to lead the Three Lions.
England were recently beaten 2-1 by Spain in the Euro 2024 final, with Southgate then deciding to resign from the job despite making remarkable progress with the team since taking over back in 2016.
There has since been plenty of speculation about who could come next for England, and it still seems the bookies have a number of names with decent odds, so it’s not yet clear if a favourite is really emerging, but it seems Lampard might have to be taken increasingly serious as a candidate.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Frank Lampard is fast becoming a genuine contender to replace Gareth Southgate as England manager. He’s proving a popular pick with punters at this point, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see his odds shorten further over the next few days.”
Nooooooooo fgs!!
Has to be an English Manager for an English Team – others may be good but they would not have the Country in their heart. Klopp would be great for Germany but not England
Klopp. Would be a great manager
