Wolves are ready to sell Portuguese forward Fabio Silva this summer, with clubs from Spain, Germany and Italy reportedly interested.

Silva joined Wolves from Porto in 2020 as an 18-year-old for what was at the time a club record £35.6m fee (per BBC Sport).

However, Silva has failed to adjust to English football, notching just five goals and six assists in 72 appearances for Wolves across all competitions. Instead, the Portugal youth international has enjoyed more success out on loan at the likes of Anderlecht, PSV and, most recently, Rangers.

Wolves have already strengthened their striker options this summer with the signing of Jorgen Strand Larsen on loan from Celta Vigo, while Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan both enjoyed strong 2023/24 campaigns with 12 Premier League goals each.

Now, according to Fussball Transfers (via Get Football News Germany), Bundesliga side Wolfsburg are interested in Silva and are considering a bid this summer after monitoring him since January.

Fabio Silva of Rangers celebrates after he scores his team’s opening goal during the Cinch Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Kilmarnock at Ibrox Stadium on May 05, 2024 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Alongside Wolfsburg, La Liga sides Valencia and Espanyol are named as admirers of Silva, as are Genoa of Serie A.

Wolves are through to be realistic about how much they can recoup from their initial outlay for SIlva and may accept half (£17.8m) of what they paid for him four years ago.

The rumours regarding Silva’s future at Molineux come off the back of fellow Portuguese forward Pedro Neto completing a lucrative move to Chelsea, while Max Kilman also left to join West Ham earlier this summer.

Wolves begin their 2024/25 Premier League campaign away at Arsenal on Saturday.

AC Milan and Sevilla are among the clubs eyeing up the potential transfer of Fabio Silva, who has been given a £20million price tag for this summer, CaughtOffside understands.

The 21-year-old has been on loan at Rangers this season, and although the Scottish Premiership club would like to sign him permanently, sources with a close understanding of the situation have informed CaughtOffside that the player would prefer a new challenge elsewhere.

It seems unlikely that Wolves will find room for Silva next season, and the club are understood to have made the player available on the market this summer, with Milan among the biggest names prepared to take a gamble on the Portugal Under-21 international.

The Rossoneri are also looking at Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee as one of their top targets, but Silva could perhaps be an alternative, while Bologna themselves are also alongside Sevilla and Real Betis as eyeing Silva.

Silva transfer: Where will Wolves misfit end up next?

Fabio Silva of Wolves

Wolves will mostly want to avoid selling their star players this summer, with plenty of transfer interest in the likes of Pedro Neto emerging in recent months, so the sale of someone like Silva for £20m could be useful for Financial Fair Play reasons.

We’ve seen Premier League teams Everton and Nottingham Forest handed penalties and points deductions this season, so Wolves will no doubt be among those now being extra careful to avoid something similar happening to them.

Still, if they can balance the books by offloading someone like Silva rather than a big name like Neto, that would be ideal, so this seems like one to watch in the weeks and months ahead.

Silva has had a decent season on loan at Rangers and has clearly done enough to impress the Glasgow outfit, even if he’s not entirely sold on staying there.

New Rangers signing, Fabio Silva, expresses confidence that he doesn’t need to prove himself at Ibrox, according to Andy Newport in La Manga.

The Wolves striker, on loan until the season ends, aims for a fresh start after facing challenges in securing a spot in Gary O’Neil’s Molineux side, despite his high-profile £35 million transfer from Porto in 2019, which has yielded five goals in 73 appearances.

Last season’s loan spells at Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven were more successful, with the Portugal Under-21 player netting 16 goals in Belgium and Holland. Despite this, doubts persist among fans in England regarding his suitability for the Premier League.

Speaking from the Gers’ winter training camp in La Manga, Silva confidently retorts: “I don’t need to think like that. I don’t need to prove anything to anyone.”

Silva, Philippe Clement’s inaugural signing for Rangers, believes the experienced Belgian manager can assist him in recapturing the form that earned him his move to Wolves four-and-a-half years ago.

He stated: “I’m a player who likes to feel the confidence from the staff and the players. And of course the coach was really key in me coming here.”

Celtic were rumoured to be monitoring the new Ibrox recruit before Clement secured his signature. Silva sees Ibrox as the ideal place to enhance his medal collection, especially as Rangers prepare for a significant second half of the season, targeting success in the Premiership, Scottish Cup, and Europa League after winning the Viaplay Cup.

“Everyone knows I had a lot of chances to go to other clubs on loan too. But I’m an ambitious player, I want to compete for titles and to win things.”

Wolves are anticipated to contemplate the departures of three players in the January transfer window, aiming to balance the books and facilitate new signings, as reported by the Daily Telegraph.

The club, facing financial constraints, had to sell key players in the summer. As they approach the announcement of their annual accounts early next year, the goal is to record a small profit to comply with the permitted £105m losses over three years.

Wolves are looking to make signings in the upcoming transfer window, and to address financial concerns, they are open to considering the departures of Fabio Silva, Sasa Kalajdzic, and Jonny Otto. All three players have seen limited opportunities under Gary O’Neil this season, and their potential exits could be on loan deals or permanently.

The level of interest in these players remains uncertain as the transfer window approaches.

In addition, Wolves are expected to be without Hwang Hee-Chan in January, as he participates in the Asian Cup with South Korea. Additionally, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Boubacar Traore might be heading to the Africa Cup of Nations, further impacting the squad’s availability during this period. However, they are only due to play one league match in January, against Brighton on the 22nd of January.

The 100 nominations for the Golden Boy 2022 award have now been named, including Liverpool and Manchester United stars.

Last year, the award was handed to Barcelona star Pedri, and now a list of 100 will be looking to be named the Golden Boy of 2022. The award is given to Europe’s best youngster aged 21 or under in the calendar year, and the previous winners include Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, and Wayne Rooney.

This year, ten Premier League players have made the cut, as relayed by the Mirror, including two players each from Manchester United and Liverpool. Harvey Elliot, Fabio Carvalho, Anthony Elanga and Amad Diallo have all been nominated, but no players from Arsenal or Chelsea are on the list.

Wolves also have two players on the shortlist in Fabio Silva and former Liverpool defender Ki-Jana Hoever. Manchester City youngster Yan Couto, who is yet to play for the Premier League club, has also made the cut.

The rest of the Premier League representatives are Pape Matar Sarr (Tottenham), Kacper Kozlowski (Brighton), and Joe Gelhardt (Leeds).

Some standout names from Europe include Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham, and Jamal Musiala.

Despite the immense reputation of the Chelsea academy, none of their youngsters have been deemed good enough to make the list.

The full list can be found over at TuttoSport.

Real Madrid are considering a move for 19-year-old forward Fabio Silva from Wolves.

Silva signed for Wolves for a fee of £35m, according to Sky Sports. Despite being a highly-rated youngster, many were shocked to see such a high figure, for a player who was fairly unproven at the time.

The 19-year-old signed from Porto, where he had only played 12 league games. Since joining Wolves, he hasn’t started particularly well, only scoring four times in 62 appearances.

However, that hasn’t stopped Real Madrid from showing an interest, and Defensa Central are reporting that they are looking to bring in the Portuguese forward. The Spanish club are looking to bring in a young striker, with Karim Benzema entering the final years of his career.

Despite not having a prolific record in England so far, Silva is still a young prospect and his best years are in front of him. The price tag paid for him may have added unnecessary pressure on the Wolves forward.

Real Madrid will be hoping to unlock his full potential if they do sign him, and there aren’t many better forwards in the world to learn from than Karim Benzema.

Monday night’s Midlands derby sees a struggling Baggies trying to finish their season on a high.

However, despite being far from their best, it has been Nuno Espirito Santo’s men who have started the game the better of the two sides.

Just shy of the half-time break, Portuguese striker Silva has opened the scoring following an excellent piece of build-up play.

The young striker appeared to chip the ball up and over Sam Johnstone, but was it more luck than good judgement? – You decide.

Neto, 20, has been with Wolves since joining from Lazio in 2019.

Despite being best known for his attacking talents, Neto has given fans an insight into his hilarious off-field personality.

Appearing on Sky Sports earlier on Saturday, Neto was asked by the host if it’s true or false that new team-mate Silva has the best hair at the club.

In an absolutely savage but hilarious response the 20-year-old Portuguese star said: “The worst. His hair is the worst in the history of the world!”

When asked what is so wrong with Silva’s hair, Neto explained that when the pair are playing head-tennis, the young striker is always having to push it back and out of his eyes.

Sky’s host went on to comically apologise on Neto’s behalf, to which the Portuguese attacker responded: “No I will not apologise my friend. We cannot apologise for this. He has to cut his hair!”

Sam Allardyce will surely be seething at the way his West Bromwich Albion team let their lead slip at rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Heading into half-time, the Baggies looked good for their 1-0 lead, but in the blink of an eye Fabio Silva scored the first goal of his career to draw the hosts level, before some sloppy defending from the visitors saw Willy Boly take advantage to fire home.

With West Brom’s brittle confidence, it’s difficult to see them coming back from this position.
