Barcelona have knocked on the doors of Tottenham to enquire about the availability of Sergio Reguilon.

Barcelona haven’t done much in the ongoing transfer window. Their financial struggles have restricted their movements. But, since they have successfully added Dani Olmo to their squad, the Catalan giants can now look at other areas that need reinforcement.

The Spanish giants want to reinforce their backline and according to Lyall Thomas, they have been making enquiries about Sergio Reguilon who seems to be surplus to requirements at Tottenham. The Spanish full-back has spent last the two seasons out on loan and Barcelona are exploring conditions to sign him in the ongoing transfer window.

Reguilon came up the ranks at Real Madrid. While he couldn’t establish himself in their first team, an impressive loan spell at Sevilla resulted in a permanent move to Tottenham in the summer of 2020. Spurs had a lot of expectations from him but the 27-year-old full-back has failed to live up to them. He spent the 2022/23 season out on loan at Atletico Madrid and last season, he was out on loan at Manchester United and Brentford.

Barcelona keen on Sergio Reguilon

With just a year left on his deal at the North London club, Barcelona are looking to secure his services in a cut-price deal. The Catalan giants do not have enough depth in the full-back department. While the initial idea was to permanently sign Joao Cancelo, there hasn’t been much development on that front.

Alejandro Balde and Álex Valle are the two left-back options at Hansi Flick’s disposal. As a result, they are looking at Reguilon who has a lot of experience. They have already made inquiries about the Tottenham full-back and since he doesn’t seem to be a part of their plans moving ahead, Spurs might not have a problem offloading him.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

The 27-year-old Spanish defender does not have a future at the North London club and he needs to leave them permanently.

He will be hoping to play regularly next season and Spanish outfit Sevilla are prepared to provide him with an exit route.

Sevilla director Victor Orta is an admirer of the 27-year-old and he has already spoken to the player regarding a potential move as per VamosMiSevillaFC. It appears that Reguilon is keen on a return to his former club and Sevilla are looking to snap him up on loan until the end of the season.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to accept the offer. The North London club will hope to sell him permanently and a loan move might not appeal to them. The defender was on loan at Manchester United and Brentford last season.

He was highly rated during his time in La Liga, but he has not been able to translate those performances in English football. His time in the Premier League has been quite mediocre and he will look to leave this summer.

Tottenham want to sell Sergio Reguilon.

Sergio Reguilon needs a fresh start

Reguilon is still young enough to get his career back on track with regular football, and it remains to be seen where he ends up. The 27-year-old would be a superb addition for Sevilla, who need to add more defensive depth to the side. The defender knows the club well and he should be able to settle in quickly and make an instant impact.

Regular football in La Liga will help him regain his form and confidence as well. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can convince the Spanish outfit to sign him permanently instead of loan deal.

Calafiori to Arsenal – here we go!

It’s finally ‘here we go’ for Riccardo Calafiori to Arsenal. After a lengthy saga, last night Arsenal and Bologna started exchanging all the documents as the deal is all done and confirmed. The next step is to sign all the documents and schedule medical tests for Calafiori, which will take place in the US so he can join Mikel Arteta’s squad for pre-season there.

Another important story with Arsenal is that Fulham have returned with a new proposal for Emile Smith Rowe and now the deal is close. It’s not done yet but could be completed soon if the two clubs agree on details. Crystal Palace wanted Smith Rowe too but Fulham are pushing now, with manager Marco Silva fully involved.

Fulham have also been linked with Scott McTominay and reports of their interest is accurate, though nothing is close or advanced at this stage. For Manchester United it’s been a very clear position since last summer: in case of a good, important proposal McTominay can leave. Otherwise they would be more than happy to keep McTominay at the club.

Chelsea bid for new goalkeeper, plus Chalobah latest

Chelsea had an important day yesterday as they submitted an official bid to Villarreal for goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen. The Danish goalkeeper has a release clause of €45m, but Chelsea offered €20m, and they have a feeling internally that a deal could be done for something like €25-26m.

Negotiations are ongoing, but the feeling is positive as Jorgensen already agreed on personal terms with Chelsea – salary, length of contract, everything is okay. So now the clubs are working on the details, but their relationship is very good after they worked on the Nicolas Jackson deal last summer.

An important detail is that Jorgensen is considered one of the best goalkeepers around in terms of his distribution skills, and as I’ve reported, that’s an important skill Chelsea have been looking for as it’s really appreciated by Enzo Maresca.

So, it’s a work in progress, but Chelsea have entered the race strongly. The deal looks likely, and I’d expect Jorgensen to compete with Robert Sanchez for the number one spot. Ultimately it will be up to Maresca so we’ll have to see, but we know he values goalkeepers with good distribution like Jorgensen.

Elsewhere with Chelsea, Trevoh Chalobah’s future is in doubt after he was left out of their pre-season tour and my understanding is that Chelsea are prepared to sell Chalobah for a fee in the region of £30m. He’s leaving this summer for sure, and is open to clubs in both the Premier League and other leagues. Nothing is imminent now – from what I heard he wants to take his time to consider all the options available.

Man Utd want a new left-back, so could Reguilon return?

I’ve been saying for several months now that Manchester United want to sign a new left-back – Tyrell Malacia is back now but still not fit, while Luke Shaw has often had problems with injuries, so Man United still need some more cover there and there have been rumours about Marcos Alonso, the former Chelsea player who is available on a free after leaving Barcelona.

Let’s see what happens in the next weeks, but I’m told that, as of today, Alonso’s camp has not received any approach from Manchester United. As of today, there are no talks or negotiations, but of course let’s see what happens because we know things can happen quickly with free agents as you can close the deal in one day because you don’t need to negotiate club-to-club.

Sergio Reguilon spent the first half of last season on loan at Man United, but as of today I’m told there is nothing advanced between Tottenham and United over Reguilon returning to Old Trafford. But in general, Reguilon was very happy at United, so if they came back for him he’d be very keen on the move – he loved his short time at the club, he was very happy with the club and the tactical ideas, but again, as of now there have been no contacts over this move.

So, United will look at left-backs, even if for now the priority is on different positions, but once they decide what left-back they want, I will let you know.

Juventus open talks over Karim Adeyemi

Juventus have a really concrete interest in Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi and have started contacts on the player side. There have not yet been contacts between the two clubs, but Juve have discussed a contract with Adeyemi. It’s still at the early stages of the story, but there has been a meeting with the player’s representatives.

So, Adeyemi to Juventus could be one to watch as the Italian giants try to advance on the player side before entering into negotiations with Dortmund.

Truth about De Bruyne and Rudiger Saudi links

I wanted to clarify again that Kevin De Bruyne is not going to Al Ittihad. I also wanted to make it clear that Al Ittihad never presented a proposal to De Bruyne – there was no contract proposal to the player, and no bid to Manchester City. It’s just not happening. Why? Because at the moment Al Ittihad are looking for different players because they know it will be impossible to proceed with De Bruyne.

So, it’s completely quiet with Al Ittihad and also other clubs, with Pep Guardiola also speaking publicly to confirm that he expects De Bruyne to stay at Manchester City for at least one more season.

We’ve also had some strong rumours about Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger and interest from Saudi. Al Ittihad have again been mentioned, with reports claiming that they presented an important proposal for Rudiger.

Once again – Rudiger has no intention to leave Real Madrid, and they have absolutely no intention to part ways with him. The German centre-back is one of the big faces of their team, and he had a great season winning many trophies last term. Everything is under control and Rudiger is not even considering going to Saudi now, though of course in the future we’ll see, anything can happen, but today he is not negotiating with Saudi clubs and he is not interested in entertaining any talks.

So for now, it’s simply not happening and Real Madrid don’t want to lose another defender as they already lost Nacho this summer. They wanted to sign Leny Yoro, though he went to Manchester United, so let’s see if they will find another centre-back. But certainly for now there is no plan to let Rudiger go, and I don’t see him going to Real Madrid and telling them he wants to leave.

Eze transfer interest remains, but no bids yet

I’ve been asked by a few fans for an update on Eberechi Eze, who has attracted plenty of links and speculation after his excellent form for Crystal Palace, which also saw him make it into the England squad for Euro 2024.

The situation is this: all the big clubs in Premier League have been monitoring Eze, really all of them. But at the moment, Palace have not received any formal proposal, so let’s see if that changes soon.

Man City had Eze on their list already last summer, while Tottenham have been in contact with his agents since February – the interest is absolutely still there but again, no bids yet.

Cancelo could be back on Barcelona’s agenda soon

It’s gone a bit quiet on the future of Joao Cancelo recently, but Barcelona want a new right-back and Cancelo is one of the names on their shortlist after his spell on loan there last season.

I don’t see Cancelo staying at Man City, but the reason it’s gone quiet is because for now Barca are putting all their focus into the Nico Williams deal. Once that has been resolved they will look for other targets, including a new right-back.

Ange Postecoglou will be readying his Tottenham stars for their pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea knowing that it’s the end of the road at the club for certain players.

If there’s one thing that has characterised the Australian’s time in charge of the North London outfit, it’s his straight talking and honesty.

Should reporters ask questions he doesn’t like, he’ll let them know about it. It’s clear that he doesn’t suffer fools gladly and from the outside looking in, he appears to have that aura which all great managers do.

It’s easy to see why his players are happy to buy into his philosophy, and after the histrionics of the Mourinho and Conte tenures, not to mention their stale brand of football, Tottenham’s long-suffering fans were almost certainly delighted by acquiring a no-nonsense manager who let his football do the talking for him.

Sergio Reguilon and Bryan Gil have been left at home by Tottenham

The tour will arguably give one or two fringe players the chance to stake their claim for a more permanent employment in Postecoglou’s starting XI, whilst helping others get somewhere close to approaching full match fitness.

For two of Tottenham’s ball playing exponents, however, being left at home signifies the end of the road for them at the club.

Bryan Gil will almost certainly leave Tottenham this summer along with Sergio Reguilon
Bryan Gil will almost certainly leave Tottenham this summer along with Sergio Reguilon

According to The Standard (subscription required), both Bryan Gil and Sergio Reguilon will be expected to look for new clubs whilst their current employers are on tour.

Gil’s silky skills wouldn’t look out of place in any midfield, whilst Reguilon’s marauding forays down the left side are surely likely to find a home before the first whistle sounds to signify the start of the 2024/25 campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur need to have a decent transfer window this summer if they’re to improve on their fifth placed finish last season.

The North Londoners looked odds on at one point to qualify for next season’s Champions League, but they were eventually beaten to the post by Aston Villa.

Just two points separated them from Unai Emery’s side at the end of the campaign, and with Spurs losing five of their last seven matches in the English top-flight, winning the other two against relegated Burnley and Sheffield United, they’ve really only got themselves to blame.

Tottenham prepare to cash in on Sergio Reguilon

That’s all in the past of course, and Ange Postecoglou will surely want everyone to be looking forward and willing to correct the mistakes of the past 12 months.

The squad started like a house on fire under the Australian and it wasn’t long before his name was heartily being sung from the stands, however, the longer the season went on, the more marked the drop off in performance became.

Tottenham are willing to sell Sergio Reguilon for just £10m
Tottenham are willing to sell Sergio Reguilon for just £10m

One player that can’t be blamed for Spurs’ malaise is Sergio Reguilon, as he was sent on loan to Man United and then Brentford for the entirety of the campaign.

Now Football Insider are reporting that the North Londoners are looking to cash in. That said, the outlet suggest a fee of just £10m will be enough to prise him from Tottenham, who paid a whopping £32m for him back in 2020.

It isn’t clear at this point if there are any interested parties, even though they might consider Reguilon as a bargain signing.

At 27, it’s generally thought to be about the time a player peaks, and with years still ahead of him in the game, £10m is peanuts.

Any sale would get his wages off the books too, and would leave Tottenham in the enviable position of being able to utilise those funds elsewhere.

Manchester United are reportedly showing interest in re-signing Tottenham Hotspur left-back Sergio Reguilon this summer, according to Spanish outlet Diario AS.

The Red Devils are exploring the possibility of securing the services of Reguilon, who spent a brief loan spell with them last season.

Reguilon, now in the final year of his contract with Spurs, is expected to leave North London this summer.

Tottenham are keen to offload the 27-year-old defender, who does not feature in Ange Postecoglou’s plans for the upcoming season despite a shortage in the left-back position.

Destiny Udogie, who had an impressive debut season with Spurs, has established himself as the top-choice left-back. However, Tottenham are looking to bolster their defence with another left-back to add depth to the squad.

Reguilon joined Tottenham in 2020 on a five-year deal, with a reported £27.5 million buy-back clause.

His time in North London has been marred by injuries and multiple loan spells, limiting his impact. He made a total of 67 appearances for Spurs, scoring two goals and providing eight assists.

Sergio Reguilon to Manchester United?

Sergio Reguilon’s loan spells and form

The Real Madrid youth academy product spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Atletico Madrid. He then briefly joined Manchester United on a six-month loan in September last year to cover for injured left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

During his time at United, Reguilon showed his capabilities, which has led to their renewed interest in making his move permanent.

Tottenham are ready to listen to offers for the left-back, with Manchester United emerging as a potential destination. This move would help Spurs secure funds and finalise their squad ahead of the new season.

Tottenham could have a very busy summer transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel as he looks ahead to a major pre-season of changes at the north London club.

Although Romano insists Ange Postecoglou is happy and staying at the club, with Spurs also happy with the project he’s building, it seems the Australian tactician will be given some license to make sweeping changes to his squad ahead of next season.

According to Romano, as many as ten players could leave Tottenham, including senior players like Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and others who’ve been loaned out, like Sergio Reguilon and Djed Spence.

It’s not yet clear who could come in at Spurs, but Romano mentions that Timo Werner’s loan being made permanent is still something the club need to decide on, so it’s not yet known if he’ll be one of the players leaving, or, in making his loan move permanent, one of the new players coming in.

See the video below for details from Romano…

THFC fans will surely be pretty happy with this update, as it sounds like Postecoglou is going to be backed to build this squad more in his own image.

The former Celtic boss made a great start when he took over last summer, but the second half of the season was less consistent, and it seems there are more than a few issues that need ironing out.

While some fans might feel it’s worth thinking about a change of manager again, it’s more likely that Postecoglou has it in him to do something very positive with this team, as long as he’s given a bit more time and a bit more control over how the squad is built.

One imagines we’ll see more specific names linked with Spurs in the weeks ahead, and it will be interesting to see what they can come up with to try to get back into the top four next season.

It’s been quite the season for Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham Hotspur so far in 2023/24.

The Australian soon won over the Spurs faithful with his straight-shooting off the pitch and his brand of football on it, and but for a couple of poor results, the North Londoners would already be virtually certain of a Champions League place next season.

Spurs are currently in fifth place and six points behind Aston Villa, though the Lilywhites have two games in hand and Villa still have to negotiate the Europa Conference League semi-finals, which could benefit Tottenham.

Sergio Reguilon wont stay at Tottenham says pundit

The brand of free-flowing football that is Postecoglou’s hallmark has been a joy to watch in his debut Premier League campaign, and it’s a way of playing that encourages the full-backs to get forward and act as supplementary attackers.

It’s the type of game that Sergio Reguilon loves, however, the Spaniard has been on loan at Brentford after similar spells at Man United and Atletico Madrid.

Sergio Reguilon could look to move on from Tottenham
Sergio Reguilon is unlikely to stay at Tottenham.

Clearly, he’s not in the thoughts of the current Spurs manager either, and that has led pundit, Alan Hutton, to suggest that the player will want to move on if Brentford don’t sign him, which The Athletic (subscription required) say is unlikely.

“It’s an interesting one, I still think he’s a good player,” Hutton told Tottenham News.

“He’s an attacking full-back and he’s gone out on loan and he’s done well. You look at the situation that’s just arisen at this moment in time and he’s an ideal fit to come in and play.

“There’s a lack of numbers there in the style that Ange wants to play so is that an option to bring him back into the fold? Is he going to be happy playing second fiddle? We know Udogie signed a massively long-term contract so he is there for the foreseeable and will be the go-to guy.

“Will Reguilon be happy to play second fiddle or not? I don’t think he will, to be honest with you, I think he’ll want to go somewhere and play, that will be his mindset.

“If he doesn’t go to Brentford because they can’t afford the deal or whatever, I think he’ll still look to try and get out in the summer.”

Even if Spurs only end up in the Europa League as a consolation prize of sorts, it will still require Postecouglou to add some depth to his squad.

To that end, it could be said that Reguilon will still have a part to play next season, even if he isn’t necessarily regarded as a first-choice.

Perhaps the Spaniard’s choice will simply come down to which team wants him the most. After all, players just want to be out there on the pitch, and sometimes playing for the biggest names isn’t always conducive to a productive career.

Sergio Reguilon is reportedly someone Tottenham Hotspur want to let go of at the end of this season.

Currently on loan at Brentford,  Reguilon has performed reasonably for the Bees.

The Spaniard will need to leave Tottenham in order to play regularly, though, since he does not have a future there.

Football Insider claims that the Spaniard is not wanted at the North London club and he is not included in their future plans.

The Premier League club are ready to cash in on the former Real Madrid defender.

Reguilon, who joined Spurs from Real Madrid in the summer of 2020, had a respectable beginning to his life in London.

However, things didn’t go as expected, and he has had loan moves to several other clubs.

Ben Davies, Ryan Sessegnon, Destiny Udogie, and more players are already available to Tottenham.

There won’t be another left back they can take in the foreseeable future.

Richarlison Sergio Reguilon Tottenham Premier League
Tottenham have decided to cash in on Sergio Reguilon.

The defender has spent considerable amount of time out on loan

The 27-year-old is now on a brief loan at Brentford after spending the first part of the season on loan at Manchester United.

They intend to offload the Spanish defender in order to raise funds in the summer for new signings.

Tottenham will have to take a loss on the player since it is doubtful that they will be able to recuperate the £27 million they paid for him.

Tottenham make decision on the future of Reguilon

The Spanish defender is unwelcome at Tottenham and they are eager to get rid of him, which is known to clubs interested in signing him.

Spurs should look to recruit a centre midfielder, a striker of the highest caliber, and an extra central defender at the end of the season to complete their squad.

The Premier League club are ready to support Ange Postecoglou in the transfer market as they aim to make it to the Champions League and bolster their squad.

The former Aston Villa striker believes that Manchester United made a mistake by allowing Sergio Reguilon to leave in January.

The Red Devils have been plagued by injuries this season, particularly in their defensive department with several first-name stars spending a large span of time in the physios room.

The left-back position has been a serious worry for Erik ten Hag, with the Dutch manager forced to play Victor Lindelof and Diogo Dalot out of position.

Both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are out injured, with the latter set to miss the entire season with a reoccurring knee problem.

Despite these worries about the left-back position, the club decided to end Reguilon’s loan and send him back to Tottenham Hotspur in January, the Spaniard was then shipped out to Brentford until the end of the season.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Gabriel Agbonlahor claimed that the Red Devils made a mistake by letting the 27-year-old leave.

“Letting Reguilon go was a mistake, wasn’t it?” He said via HITC.

“You have got Lindelof playing there. He could do a job, but that could cost you in the last 10 games. Injuries have been a big problem, haven’t they?”

With Champions League contender Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur fighting it out on Sunday, Man United could see themselves thrust back into the race for the top four depending on the result.
