Former Everton Chief Executive Keith Wyness believes West Ham are likely to be well within the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules despite their significant summer spending.

It’s been a busy summer at the London Stadium and the Hammers have heavily backed new manager Julen Lopetegui in the market with a number of new signings.

West Ham have splashed out on the likes of Max Kilman, Crysencio Summerville, Luis Guilherme and Niclas Fullkrug as they look to qualify for Europe next season.

West Ham to be within profit and sustainability rules

The Hammers spent £40m on Kilman and £25m for Summerville which makes them their two most expensive signings of the summer as per Transfermarkt.

Teams have to be wary of their spending due to profit and sustainability rules and both Nottingham Forest and Everton have fallen foul of the rules and were issued with a points deduction last season, but both cubs managed to stay in the Premier League.

Wyness was asked for this thoughts on West Ham’s spending and whether they would potentially fall foul of the rules because of it.

Julen Lopetegui as West Ham manager.
West Ham have heavily back Lopetegui in the window.

“In terms of the economics, I think they’re doing ok,” he told Football Insider.

“I think they’ll be fine in terms of the PSR limit. They’re stretching it, but they’ll be ok.

“It’s now down to Lopetegui to get off to a good start in this new era for him.”

The East Londoners haven’t finished spending and are expected to complete the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United next week for a reported £15m.

It’s a big season for West Ham and they are building a squad with plenty of quality for Lopetegui, but the big task for the former Wolves and Real Madrid manager is to get everyone on the same wave length which is far easier said than done.

The Hammers take on Aston Villa in their first game of the season on August 17th and will be looking to get off to a winning start.

Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran has asked his advisors to try and find a solution so that he can join West Ham according to reports.

Duran was linked with a move to Chelsea earlier this summer but their interest cooled and the Blues have subsequently agreed a deal worth £35m with Atletico Madrid to sign Samu Omorodion.

The Hammers had a bid rejected earlier this summer for the Colombian and have subsequently completed the signing of Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund.

Duran asks advisors to find solution as he seeks Villa exit

The Colombian joined Villa from MLS side Chicago Fire in January 2023 and made 37 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring eight goals as Villa qualified for the Champions League.

Villa have been busy in the window as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of their Champions League campaign and have signed the likes of Ian Maatsen, Amadou Onana and Jaden Philogene, whilst club record signing Moussa Diaby has left to join Saudi side Al-Ittihad.

Duran has been linked with moves to both Chelsea and West Ham this summer.

The future of Duran remains unclear given so far no suitors have been prepared to meet Aston Villa’s £40m valuation.

However, ExWHUemployee has said via Patreon that Duran, who was part of the Colombia squad that made the Copa America final wants the move to the London Stadium and has asked his advisors to find a solution in order to make it happen.

It’s unclear whether West Ham are still looking for another striker having signed Fullkrug, but with the start of the season and the end of the window drawing closer Duran could find himself in an awkward situation where he’s still at Villa having made it very clear that he wishes to leave the club.

It would appear that West Ham’s main priority is a new right back and they have most recently been linked with a move for Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier.

Inter Milan defender Yann Bisseck is a target for West Ham according to reports as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.

It’s been all change at the London Stadium after the departure of David Moyes and former Wolves and Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui is now the man in charge.

The Hammers have been busy in the market and have made some good signings with the likes of Max Kilman, Luis Guilherme and Crysencio Summerville all arriving, whilst German striker Niclas Fullkrug is set to complete his move to the club on Monday.

West Ham interested in Bisseck

Defensive reinforcements have been a high priority for West Ham and despite signing Kilman they are believed to be in the market for another centre back.

The Hammers have been linked with a move for Nice star Jean-Clair Todibo and Toulouse’s Logan Costa.

However, there’s another name on the list and Italian outlet FCInterNews.it have reported that West Ham have made an approach for Inter centre back Bisseck but face a difficult task to sign the 23-year-old.

Yann Bisseck in action for Inter Milan.
Bisseck only joined Inter Milan last summer.

The report adds that Inter value Bisseck in the region of €25m and consider the German as unsellable.

Bisseck is a Germany under-21 international and only joined the Italian champions last summer from Danish side Aarhus GF.

The centre back, who will be hoping to break into the starting line-up on a more consistent basis next season made 21 appearances in all competitions during the last campaign, with ten of those coming in Serie A.

It’s not just in the centre of defence where the Hammers need to strengthen and they are also in the market for a right back.

West Ham have identified Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka as a target with the Old Trafford outfit said to want around £18m for the 26-year-old, although an agreement is yet to be reached between the clubs.

A deal is certainly there to be done as United need to offload Wan-Bissaka in order to complete a move for Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui who they have already agreed personal terms with.

German striker Niclas Fullkrug has completed his West Ham medical ahead of his imminent move to the London stadium from Borussia Dortmund according to Fabrizio Romano.

It’s a new era for Hammers with Julen Lopetegui the new man in charge following the departure of David Moyes at the end of last season.

West Ham have made a number of signings as they look to strengthen their squad having missed out on European football with a ninth placed finish last season.

Fullkrug completes West Ham medical

The Hammers have signed wingers Luis Guilherme and Crysencio Summerville, whilst centre back Max Kilman and goalkeeper Wes Foderingham have also arrived at the club.

West Ham are known to be in the market for a centre forward and having had a bid rejected by Aston Villa for Jhon Duran they have switched their attention to Fullkrug, with the Germany international very close to completing his switch to the Premier League.

Romano has reported the 31-year-old has completed his medical and will sign his contract on Monday.

He took to X.com and said:

“Niclas Füllkrug has completed all medical tests needed at West Ham! Deal confirmed. Contract signing on Monday then time to make deal official. Deal valid until June 2027 plus option until 2028.”

West Ham are said to be paying Dortmund in the region of £27m for the striker and will be hoping the German can solve some of their goalscoring issues.

The Hammers relied heavily on Jarrod Bowen’s goals last season, whilst Michail Antonio isn’t a prolific goalscorer and the club will be hoping Fullkrug can make an impact.

Fullkrug only joined Dortmund from Werder Bremen last summer, but he’s on the move once again after scoring 15 goals and providing ten assists in 43 appearances last season.

The striker also has a great record at international level with 13 goals in 21 caps for the German national team, and he scored twice in five games at Euro 2024.

West Ham have switched their attention back to Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka after a move for Bayern Munich right back Noussair Mazraoui fell through according to reports.

The Hammers are looking to strengthen new manager Julen Lopetegui’s squad ahead of the new campaign and have targeted right back as an area that needs strengthening.

The London Stadium outfit have so far signed winger Luis Guilherme, defender Max Kilman and goalkeeper Wes Foderingham, but will need more reinforcements if they are to improve on last season’s ninth place finish.

West Ham looking to complete Wan-Bissaka deal

With the Mazraoui deal falling through it now leaves United with the opportunity to sweep in and complete a deal for the Morocco international.

The deal is believed to have fallen through because of a disagreement with the right back’s agent, despite having an agreement in place with Bayern.

However, Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has stated that in order to fund any move the Red Devils must first sell Wan-Bissaka, and United have reportedly lowered their asking price to between £10m-£15m.

Plettenberg added that West Ham have now switched their focus to the 26-year-old, who they were linked with earlier in the summer and are set to hold talks with United over the weekend.

Wan-Bissaka only has one year left remaining on his contract so West Ham would be able to sign the former Crystal Palace man for a cut price deal, but he’s also been linked with a move to Turkish side Galatasaray.

The right back has made 190 appearances for the Old Trafford outfit and has won the Carabao and FA Cup during his time at the club, but it appears he could have played his final game for the Red Devils.

Last season Czech international Vladamir Coufal was first choice, but it appears the Hammer are looking to revamp their defence for the new campaign.

Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran has seemingly disrespected the club after he made an “irons” gesture on Instagram live.

The Colombian who arrived from MLS side Chicago Fire in January 2023 is expected to leave Villa after just 18 months at the club.

The 20-year-old played backup to Ollie Watkins last season, and most notably scored twice in the 3-3 draw with Liverpool at Villa Park.

Duran makes West Ham gesture on Instagram live

The Villa man had been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea earlier in the summer, but the west London club have cooled their interest after carrying out a number of background checks on the striker.

It now seems that Duran could be heading to Chelsea’s London rivals West Ham, and they are pressing ahead with a deal for the Colombia international.

The Hammers saw a bid worth £32m with a sell on clause plus youngster Lewis Orford rejected, but the London Stadium outfit haven’t given up hope.

Jhon Duran in action for Aston Villa.
Duran is expected to leave Villa this summer.

Villa are believed to want £40m which would see them more than double their money having spent £18m to bring the striker to the Premier League.

West Ham are in the market for a forward with Michail Antonio, who has led the line for the past couple seasons not exactly prolific or getting any younger.

Duran appeared to drop a hint on a recent Instagram live as he made the “irons” symbol which is synonymous with West Ham and it seems he wants to join the club.

This is unlikely to go down well with his current employers given a deal has yet to be agreed between the two clubs.

If Duran does complete a move to east London he’s certainly got the potential to become the regular goalscorer West Ham are looking for, but despite his obvious talent there have reportedly been question marks over his attitude .

West Ham are one of four Premier League club’s interested in AC Milan winger Alexis Saelemaekers according to reports.

It’s a new era at the London Stadium with Julen Lopetegui now in charge following the departure of David Moyes, and West Ham have been strengthening their squad ahead of the new season.

The Hammers have signed Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme, defender Max Kilman and goalkeeper Wes Foderingham, but they are looking to complete more deals.

West Ham interested in Saelemaekers

The London Stadium outfit are believed to be in the market for attacking reinforcements and have recently been linked with Leeds star Crysencio Summerville, whilst they are believed to also hold an interest in Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson.

The Hammers are looking for more support for star players Jarrod Bowen and Mohamed Kudus, who they relied on a lot last season.

Italian outlet Calcio Mercato have reported West Ham are one of four Premier League clubs interested in Belgian winger Saelemaekers.

Alexis Saelemaekers in action for Bologna.
Saelemaekers spent last season on loan at Bologna.

The report adds that Leicester, Fulham and Nottingham Forest are also interested in the 25-year-old, with Milan valuing the winger at around €20m.

Saelemaekers, who has two years left on his contract spent last season on loan at Bologna and helped the club qualify for the Champions League.

The winger scored four goals and provided three assists in 30 league appearances, but Bologna are unlikely to sign him permanently.

The Belgium international joined Milan from Anderlecht in 2020, and is predominantly a right winger, who can also play on the left, which could appeal to the Hammers.

West Ham are still keen to further strengthen their defensive options and are looking at both centre back and right back.

The Hammers have recently been linked with moves for Trevoh Chalobah and Fikayo Tomori, whilst Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a target at right back.

The hunt for a new striker continues and the club do hold interest in Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, but a move has yet to materialise.

West Ham are considering a move for Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters according to reports as they look for a new right back following Ben Johnson’s departure.

It’s set to be a busy summer at the London Stadium as the Hammers look to strengthen their squad ahead of Julen Lopetegui’s first season in charge.

So far the club have signed Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme, centre back Max Kilman and goalkeeper Wes Foderingham, with plenty more reinforcements needed if West Ham are going to qualify for European football.

West Ham eye Walker-Peters

The Hammers are on the hunt for more depth in the right back position following Johnson’s decision to join Ipswich on a free transfer.

Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka is expected to leave the club this summer, and has been linked with a move to the London Stadium, with journalist Dean Jones reporting that West Ham view a move for Walker-Peters as easier to do.

Kyle Walker-Peters in action for Southampton.
Walker-Peters is attracting interest from Premier League clubs.

“We know that West Ham are very seriously looking for a new forward and have tried on Jhon Duran, but also we will see them kick on in their bid to find a full-back,” he told GIVEMESPORT.

“Man United are still waiting to discover whether they are serious about Wan-Bissaka.

“It has seemed like they have looked into a few other options that might be easier to do, and Kyle Walker-Peters is one of them, but certainly this is one of the areas they want to address quickly.

“Getting a deal sorted for Flynn Downes is helpful and the close-season negotiations with Southampton were always aimed at sorting out that situation before pre-season as we have reported recently.”

Walker-Peters had been linked with a possible return to Tottenham earlier in the summer, and the right back was part of the Southampton side which won promotion back to the Premier League through the play-offs last season, making 47 appearances in all competitions.

West Ham were heavily reliant on Jarrod Bowen for goals last season, and as well as having interest in  Jhon Duran, they are reportedly weighing up a move for Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

West Ham are considering a move for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin according to Sky Sports.

The Hammers are looking to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season and have so far added Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme, whilst defender Max Kilman has arrived from Wolves in a deal worth £40m.

West Ham were heavily reliant on Jarrod Bowen for goals last season, and with Danny Ings’ move to the London Stadium not working out, and Michail Antonio not getting any younger the club need new options at the top end of the pitch.

West Ham consider move for Calvert Lewin

The Hammers have been linked with a number of strikers ahead of Julen Lopetegui’s first season in charge with the Spaniard replacing David Moyes at the end of the last campaign.

West Ham have reportedly looked at Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, who Chelsea had expressed interest in earlier this summer, but an offer has yet to be made.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin in action for Everton.
Calvert-Lewin is attracting interest from Premier League clubs this summer.

Sky Sports have reported that Calvert-Lewin could be an option for the club, with the Englishman now inside the final 12 months of his deal.

The 27-year-old had been linked with a move to Newcastle earlier in the window, but that reportedly fell through due to personal terms not being agreed.

The England international, who is believed to be valued at around £30m by Everton, has been at Goodison Park since 2016, and has scored 68 goals for the Toffees.

Calvert-Lewin has had a number injury problems over the last couple of years, but he put those behind him as he made 38 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring eight goals and providing three assists.

The Hammers are also believed to have an interest in Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson who looks likely to leave the Emirates this summer, whilst they have also looked at Nice centre back Jean-Clair Todibo.

Juventus are not happy with West Ham after they made an offer of £25m for Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo according to reports.

The Hammers under new manager Julen Lopetegui are looking to strengthen a squad which finished ninth last season, as they aim to qualify for European football.

West Ham have so far signed Brazilian teenager Luis Guilherme, Max Kilman from Wolves and goalkeeper Wes Foderingham from Sheffield United, but will need more if they are to achieve their goals next season.

Juventus unhappy with West Ham

The Hammers have prioritised defensive reinforcements this window, and despite signing Kilman for £40m they are still in the market for another centre back.

Angelo Ogbonna has left the club whilst there are still question marks surrounding the futures of Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd.

French centre half Todibo has been identified as another target and the London Stadium outfit had an opening offer of £25m rejected by Nice for the 24-year-old.

Jean-Clair Todibo in action for Nice.
West Ham had an opening offer for Todibo rejected.

Italian giants Juventus are also interested, whilst Manchester United are no longer in the race for the France international.

However, according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport the Serie A club aren’t happy with their Premier League counterparts as they feel West Ham’s offer has driven Todibo’s asking price up.

Juventus have reportedly made an offer of just £17m with Nice believed to value Todibo at around £34m.

The Serie A side have also been linked with a move for Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori who would like to join the club, but Juventus and Bologna are yet to reach an agreement, and the Italy international is said to be close to a move to Arsenal.

West Ham are also in the market for attacking reinforcements and are looking to bring in a centre forward who is a regular source of goals.

It appears no major inroads have been made into signing a new striker but the club have been linked with Alexander Sorloth and Youssef En-Nesyri.
