Chelsea are still monitoring Nottingham Forest defender Murillo who is valued at £55-£60m according to journalist Sami Mokbel.

It’s been another summer of change at Stamford Bridge with Enzo Maresca replacing Mauricio Pochettino in the dug out, whilst the Blues have also made seven summer signings.

Chelsea, who are currently in America on their pre-season tour recorded their first win under Maresca as they beat Club America 3-0 on Wednesday.

Chelsea still monitoring Murillo

The Blues are still in the market for a striker and a winger and have been strongly linked with a move for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen this week.

However, it appears they are still keeping their eye open at the other end of the pitch and Mokbel has reported the club are still monitoring Forest defender Murillo who is valued at £55-60m.

Murillo in action for Nottingham Forest.
Murillo impressed in his debut season in the Premier League.

Murillo impressed at Forest following his arrival from Corinthians last summer and established himself as one of the best young defenders in the league.

The 22-year-old made 36 appearances in all competitions as Forest beat the drop for the second consecutive season and if he remains at the club he will no doubt be a key player next season.

Murillo revealed in a recent interview with The Telegraph that he needed regular game time and staying at Forest for another season would enable him to mature as a player, but admitted eventually he wanted to play in the Champions League.

Chelsea have already signed Tosin Adarabioyo this summer, whilst teenage defender Aaron Anselmino is very close to completing a move from Argentine side Boca Juniors.

There simply isn’t room for any more defenders, although the club are trying to offload Trevoh Chalobah but it’s arguable if he does leave whether the Blues would actually need a replacement.

West Ham are one of four Premier League club’s interested in AC Milan winger Alexis Saelemaekers according to reports.

It’s a new era at the London Stadium with Julen Lopetegui now in charge following the departure of David Moyes, and West Ham have been strengthening their squad ahead of the new season.

The Hammers have signed Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme, defender Max Kilman and goalkeeper Wes Foderingham, but they are looking to complete more deals.

West Ham interested in Saelemaekers

The London Stadium outfit are believed to be in the market for attacking reinforcements and have recently been linked with Leeds star Crysencio Summerville, whilst they are believed to also hold an interest in Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson.

The Hammers are looking for more support for star players Jarrod Bowen and Mohamed Kudus, who they relied on a lot last season.

Italian outlet Calcio Mercato have reported West Ham are one of four Premier League clubs interested in Belgian winger Saelemaekers.

Alexis Saelemaekers in action for Bologna.
Saelemaekers spent last season on loan at Bologna.

The report adds that Leicester, Fulham and Nottingham Forest are also interested in the 25-year-old, with Milan valuing the winger at around €20m.

Saelemaekers, who has two years left on his contract spent last season on loan at Bologna and helped the club qualify for the Champions League.

The winger scored four goals and provided three assists in 30 league appearances, but Bologna are unlikely to sign him permanently.

The Belgium international joined Milan from Anderlecht in 2020, and is predominantly a right winger, who can also play on the left, which could appeal to the Hammers.

West Ham are still keen to further strengthen their defensive options and are looking at both centre back and right back.

The Hammers have recently been linked with moves for Trevoh Chalobah and Fikayo Tomori, whilst Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a target at right back.

The hunt for a new striker continues and the club do hold interest in Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, but a move has yet to materialise.

Newcastle have booked a medical for Odysseas Vlachodimos with the goalkeeper set to join the club from Nottingham Forest.

The Magpies have been under heavy pressure to raise funds ahead of Sunday’s profit and sustainability deadline and there have been reports that star players Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak could leave the club.

However, it appears that won’t be happening as Newcastle have agreed deals to sell Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson.

Newcastle book Vlachodimos medical

Winger Minteh is set to join Brighton for £33m whilst Anderson is set to join Forest in a deal worth £35m.

However, it’s not all about outgoings at St James’ Park, and it appears as part of the Anderson deal Greek goalkeeper Vlachodimos will be joining the Magpies.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that a medical has been booked in for Vlachodimos as he edges closer to completing his move to the north east.

Romano took to X.com and said:

“Newcastle have booked medical for Odysseas Vlachodimos later today in order to complete move from Nottingham Forest.

“Elliot Anderson will move to #NFFC in £35m transfer, second one after Yankuba Minteh to Brighton. Vlachodimos has accepted, as Daily Mail called.”

The 30-year-old looks likely to become Newcastle’s second signing of the summer after defender Lloyd Kelly arrived on a free transfer from Bournemouth.

Vlachodimos joined Forest from Portuguese giants Benfica last summer and made seven appearances in all competitions last season, as he played second fiddle to Matt Turner for the majority of the campaign.

The Greece international will likely provide back-up to first choice Nick Pope, and the Magpies have been in the market for another goalkeeper with Martin Dubravka expected to leave the club this summer.

Newcastle will no doubt be looking for more additions to their squad as they look to qualify for European football having missed out last season due to Manchester United winning the FA Cup.

Tottenham are among the teams interested in signing Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, with a Premier League club in the Champions League also interested according to reports.

Hudson-Odoi left Chelsea last summer and moved to The City Ground for a bargain fee of just £3m with £2m of potential add ons,  where he has enjoyed a successful first season.

The 23-year-old scored eight goals in 29 Premier League appearances as Forest stayed up for the second consecutive season, despite a points deduction late on in the campaign.

Three Premier League clubs interested in Hudson Odoi

Hudson-Odoi’s form is attracting interest from within the Premier League and given Forest’s potential issues with Financial Fair Play and Profit and Sustainability rules, the club may need to sell players this summer.

Reports have recently linked Spurs with a move for the Chelsea academy graduate, but an update from Sky Sports News suggests Ange Postecoglou’s side won’t have a clear run at the Forest star.

Live on air reporter Matt Ford said:

“We’ve got a bit of breaking news for you that concerns Nottingham Forest and Callum Hudson-Odoi who finished the season very strong for Forest.

“We’re hearing three unnamed Premier League clubs are interested in signing Hudson-Odoi.

“One of those is understood to be a Champions League club, so one of Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City or Aston Villa apparently interested.

“He scored eight goals in 20 Premier League starts last season and he’s about to enter the last two years of his contract.”

Forest won’t want to lose a player who has been an important part of the team this season just gone, but they will also know his stock is high right now, and they would be in line to make a significant profit on a player they signed just last summer.

The more clubs that are interested the more Forest will be able to drive the price up and get the highest fee possible for Hudson-Odoi.

It remains to be seen what the winger will do this summer, but it’s certainly one to keep an eye on, with it hard to imagine the former Chelsea man still being a Forest player next season.

Gary Neville has called for Mark Clattenburg to step down from his role at Nottingham Forest immediately following the club’s statement on Premier League officials.

Forest posted a statement on social media criticising referring decisions following their 2-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park, where they feel they should have had three penalties.

The club described the decisions as extremely poor and insinuated VAR official Stuart Atwell was biased because he’s a fan of Luton, who are fighting with Forest to stay up.

Clattenburg was appointed by Forest as a consultant analyst off the back of previous officiating incidents, and his role is to provide insight and analysis to support the club’s claims of contentious refereeing decisions.

Neville has called on Clattenburg to step down in the aftermath of the statement saying if he doesn’t then he is supporting what Forest are saying and implying the VAR official is a cheat because he supports another club.

Nottingham Forest may be pushing towards 20 signings this summer, but Manchester City are putting them to the sword with just one this evening. It is only half-time at the Etihad Stadium, but Erling Haaland has put three past Forest.

The Norwegian striker has not taken long to hit his stride following his move from Borussia Dortmund and already has 11 goals in his four-and-a-half games in the Premier League, making it consecutive hat-tricks following his triple against Crystal Palace.

Any doubts about his ability to adapt to the Premier League are being blown to pieces by Haaland, who at this point looks like a frightening prospect in an already excellent Manchester City side.

While it is true that City have mostly played teams expected to finish in the bottom half of the table, scoring at a rate of over two goals a game is impressive for any striker no matter the opposition.

Nottingham Forest are set to continue their remarkable summer spending spree with the signing of Hwang Ui-Jo, as per Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist believes that there is a €5m (£4.21m) deal between Forest and Girondins de Bordeaux, who were relegated last summer. Once the deal is complete, Ui-Jo would be loaned to Olympiakos for a season.

Ui-Jo scored 11 goals in 32 appearances for a poor Bordeaux side last season and has attracted interest in both Ligue 1 and the Premier League. Last month the striker himself confirmed in an interview that West Ham had made a bid for him, but it appears negotiations never got beyond that stage.

As if Forest’s spending had not raised enough eyebrows this summer, the fact they might add to their £133m spend so far in order to merely loan a player out may raise further questions. It seems Forest are looking for market opportunities even if they will not improve their side, perhaps with a view to selling them on if they do well.

Nottingham Forest continue to make waves with their transfer activity, following the news that they have agreed to spend over £40m on their next signing from Wolves. Their next addition might come from the current Champions of Europe.

According to Diario AS, Forest are looking for another right-back to compete with Neco Williams and Alvaro Odriozola is one of their targets. The 25-year-old defender arrived in Madrid as a young talent from Real Sociedad in 2018, costing Los Blancos £28.8m at the time.

Odriozola made a 27 appearances last season for Fiorentina.

Yet Odriozola has failed to settle in Madrid and has spent two of the last three seasons on loan at Bayern Munich and Fiorentina respectively. Odriozola had been keen to fight for his place at the Santiago Bernabeu but Carlo Ancelotti has made it clear that he is not part of their plans.

No price tag was mentioned but Los Blancos are unlikely to demand a significant fee for Odriozola. Despite his incredible pace and capacity to attack down the right, he has always been somewhat error prone since hisbig move to the Spanish capital.

Nottingham Forest have perhaps been the biggest surprise of the transfer market this season, bringing in an incredible total of 15 players this summer. They have also been one of the biggest spenders of the summer, so far putting down £106.7m for those players.

The newly-promoted side are not done yet though and their latest transfer could take them close to the £150m barrier. According to David Ornstein, Forest have agreed to put down a total of £42.5m for Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, should all of his add-ons be fulfilled.

The fixed fee is to be £25m but a further £10m is expected to be paid too, while the remaining £7.5m will be trickier targets to reach.

Even without the context of Forest’s previous spending, it is a remarkable fee to spend on player who is yet to play regularly in the Premier League. Gibbs-White, 22, was on loan at Sheffield United in the Championship last season and impressed, directly contributing to 20 goals from midfield. Still, it has to go down as an expensive gamble from Forest.

Nottingham Forest had been out of the Premier League for 23 years before winning promotion last season, but it appears they are planning to stay if their summer activity is anything to go by.

Forest have made a grand total of 11 signings and spending in the region of £74m, Steve Cook has an almost entirely new team with which to affront the challenge of the Premier League.

Today it emerged that they will be redeveloping their stadium. As per the BBC, Rushborough City Council approved plans to renovate the City Ground, which has not had any work done on it for 25 years.

The new plans will the capacity increased from 30,450 seats to 35,000, as the Peter Taylor Stand is remodelled. The club also applied for permission to construct two 13-story buildings and will invest £470,000 in the community.

Many have raised eyebrows about the heavy spending from Nottingham Forest, but it just goes to show the immense financial advantages that Premier League clubs experience. At the very least, fans will not be able to accuse their club of lacking ambition.
