Liverpool youngster Bobby Clark is closing in on a permanent move to RB Salzburg as the two clubs are close to agreeing a deal for the midfielder.

The original plan for the 19-year-old ahead of the 2024/25 campaign was to offer Clark a new deal at Liverpool before allowing the youngster to leave on loan to gain some experience, however, things seem to have changed.

According to DAVEOCKOP, RB Salzburg are closing in on a deal for Clark as former Liverpool coaches Pep Lijnders and Vitor Matos are extremely keen to work with the player again.

Last season was the midfielder’s biggest at Anfield as he was one of a group of youngsters who helped Jurgen Klopp through a tough period at the start of 2024.

The 19-year-old would come on in several Premier League games and was one of the young talents that helped beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final.

The upcoming campaign is a big one for Clark’s development and with the midfielder having a strong relationship with Lijnders, there is belief that under the former Reds coach, the player can reach his full potential.

Liverpool’s Bobby Clark set to reject up to 12 Championship clubs

With Clark set to move to Austria this summer, DAVEOCKOP states that it will result in the youngster rejecting up to 12 Championship teams. Bristol City, Portsmouth, and Norwich are believed to be among them, which makes the Englishman’s decision to leave his home country even more impressive.

The decision to go to Salzburg will be the right one for Clark’s career as it will be an experience living away from home comforts and playing for the Austrian side allows him to compete in the UEFA Champions League this season.

Along with Lijnders being there, that will play a big part in the 19-year-old’s decision, as Liverpool prepare to part ways with one of their more talented youngsters.

Liverpool have decided to send Bobby Clark out on loan for the 2024/25 campaign amid interest in the youngster from RB Salzburg.

According to Football Insider, the Merseyside club have opted not to let the player leave permanently and feel that a loan spell could aid the player’s development having had a breakthrough campaign last season.

The 19-year-old was handed his Liverpool debut in 2022 as he came on as a substitute during a match in which the Reds hammered Bournemouth 9-0 and has gone on to feature 14 times for the Premier League giants since, scoring one goal and assisting a further two.

Last season was Clark’s biggest at Anfield as a group of youngsters helped Klopp through a tough period at the start of 2024.

The midfielder would come on in several Premier League games and was one of the young talents that helped Liverpool beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final.

The upcoming campaign is a big one for Clark’s development and it remains to be seen where he will spend it as RB Salzburg’s new head coach Pep Lijnders is keen to have the 19-year-old join him in Austria.

What clubs are interested in Liverpool’s Bobby Clark?

The report states that RB Salzburg are interested in taking Clark on loan having had a £6m bid rejected for the 19-year-old already this summer. Former Liverpool coach Pep Lijnders is keen to work with the midfielder again and that could play a big factor when it comes to the player choosing his next club.

Leeds United and Norwich City are also said to be keeping an eye on the Liverpool star but are yet to make official moves for the youngster.

Clark missed out on Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States due to injury and is currently working his way back to full fitness. Once this is complete, the midfielder will likely decide on his next club with this next step being huge for his career at Anfield.

Leeds United are looking to add more additions to their squad in time for the new 2024-25 season.

Despite already losing Archie Gray to Spurs for £30 million, Leeds are on the cusp of allowing Crysencio Summerville to West Ham.

And even though the Yorkshire-based club have made several signings of their own, including Jayden Bogle from Sheffield United and turning Joe Rodon’s loan from Spurs permanent, another player is believed to be a top target of Daniel Farke.

According to an online report from DaveOCKOP, the Whites are hoping to beat Pep Ljinders’ Red Bull Salzburg, as well as Rangers and Norwich City, to the signing of Liverpool youngster Bobby Clark.

It is not yet known the type of deal the Whites are considering, but with the 19-year-old on the lookout for more regular first-team minutes, it seems dropping down to the Championship could be the teenager’s best bet.

Since the start of last season, midfielder Clark, who has four years left on his contract at Anfield, has directly contributed to three goals in 12 senior matches in all competitions.

Liverpool are on their way to the United States as part of their pre-season preparations and Arne Slot has picked his 28-man squad to travel to America to compete over the coming two weeks.

The Premier League club will begin their tour in Pittsburgh this week as they face La Liga outfit Real Betis. That will be followed up with games against Premier League rivals as the Reds take on Arsenal in Philadelphia and Manchester United in South Carolina across four days.

Slot has named his squad to take part in these games, with the following being the 28 players that have travelled to the US: Wataru Endo, Dominik Szoboszlai, Mohamed Salah, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Kostas Tsimikas, Andy Robertson, Fabio Carvalho, Stefan Bajcetic, Callum Chambers, Marcelo Pitaluga, Nat Phillips, Kaide Gordon, Ben Doak, James McConnell, Viteslav Jaros, Caoimhin Kelleher, Owen Beck, Amara Nallo, Lewis Koumas, Sepp van den Berg. Jarell Quansah, Tyler Morton, Conor Bradley, Harvey Blair, Luca Stephenson, Trey Nyoni and Harvey Davies.

According to James Pearce, Liverpool duo Jayden Danns and Bobby Clark have missed out due to fitness issues with the forward missing out as a result of some discomfort in his back, while the midfielder is continuing his rehab.

Slot is also without the players that went deep into this summer’s international tournaments with Van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konate, Cody Gakpo, Alexis Mac Allister, Diogo Jota, Ryan Gravenberch, Alisson, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz still not back from their breaks.

Liverpool’s pre-season preparations not ideal for Arne Slot

This summer has not been ideal for Slot as he prepares his Liverpool squad to go into his first campaign at the club.

Pre-season is crucial for a new manager as he needs to implement his ideas into his squad and the Dutch coach will be without several of his main stars for the majority of it due to their participation in Euro 2024 and Copa America.

The Premier League club’s final pre-season match is against Sevilla at Anfield a week before the season begins and that will be the only game where Slot will have his full squad to choose from. It is uncertain how this will affect the start of the Merseyside club’s 2024/25 campaign but it will surely compromise it in some way.

Newcastle United negotiated their way past Fulham after Bruno Guimaraes scored the only goal of the game.

Although the familiar face of Bruno Guimaraes netted the winning goal for the Magpies, Newcastle United’s injury crisis has necessitated other players to step up to fill the gaps.

Newcastle, lacking most of their first-choice defence and goalkeeper, found themselves in an unexpected situation with Emil Krafth playing at right-back over two years into the new era post-PIF takeover.

Only the top five teams and Newcastle themselves have scored more goals at home than Fulham this season, with 29 goals. Therefore, halting their scoring momentum was quite a challenge, but one Eddie Howe’s side were able to overcome.

Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall receives praise from Liverpool youngster Bobby Clark

Another player who was forced to step up was left-back Lewis Hall, who played very good for 89 minutes before being substituted. The 19-year-old was solid defensively, occupying the regular position of Dan Burn, he also showed his attacking ability as well.

After the game, Hall shared a post on Instagram. And someone who may be a Newcastle player in the future commented on his social media post.

The left-back captioned his post with: “Big 3pts – amazing support as always.”

Former Newcastle United academy product Bobby Clark, who has shared the pitch with Hall at different England youth levels, reacted with applause.

Academy manager Steve Harper previously lamented Newcastle’s inability to retain Clark, who departed for Liverpool in 2021.

Securing his return from Anfield will undoubtedly pose a challenge, but Lee Clark, a former beloved figure at Newcastle himself, expressed his desire to see his son back at the club, via the No Tippy Tappy Podcast.

Former Newcastle player Lee Clark has expressed his desire for his son Bobby Clark to follow in his footsteps and don the black and white stripes of the Magpies.

Lee joined Newcastle in 2005 and had a successful time there, making 260 appearances, scoring 27 and assisting 28.

During an appearance in the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, Lee was asked if he dreams of seeing his son playing for the Magpies, to which he responded:

“Absolutely. I don’t know how many fathers and sons have done it for the club. I was lucky enough to do it 265 times.

“Who knows, he might have to do an Alan Shearer and come back. But yeah, that would be my ultimate dream. Definitely.”

Bobby Clark was part of the Newcastle academy before joining Liverpool

Clark left the Newcastle academy to join Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in 2021 as he was not enjoying himself at the Magpies.

And joining the Reds is turning out to be a great decision for the teenager.

Liverpool’s injury crisis this season has given some of the academy youngsters a chance to prove themselves in the first team and Clark has take the opportunity with both hands.

He played a significant role in their League Cup win over Chelsea last month and has since then been getting a lot of time with the first team.

He scored one and assisted another in Liverpool’s 6-1 win over Sparta Prague, taking his tally to 1 goal and 2 assists in 11 appearances for the club. (Transfermarkt)

Bobby Clark has been impressive for Liverpool this season

Will Clark follow his father’s footsteps?

Given his breakthrough this season and the number of opportunities with the first team he is getting at Liverpool, it is unlikely that he will leave this summer.

However, whether he eventually returns to Newcastle in the future remains uncertain.

According to the Daily Mail, Reds midfielder Bobby Clark is staying put after the Premier League leaders rejected advances from at least two Football League clubs to sign the teenager on loan ahead of the transfer deadline.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp sees the 18-year-old as part of his first-team plans and decided it was best for him to continue his development at Anfield rather than go out on loan to another English club.

The midfielder has been getting minutes for the Merseyside outfit of late, having featured in games against Arsenal, Bournemouth, Fulham and Chelsea on Wednesday night.

Clark has been a talked about talent since joining Liverpool’s academy from Newcastle in 2021. The youngster made first team debut in 2022 appearing as a substitute for Liverpool against AFC Bournemouth in a 9-0 home victory at Anfield.

Klopp has shown Clark how much faith he has in him over the last few weeks and that alone will have fans of the Merseyside club expecting big things over the coming years.
