Leicester City are leading the race to sign Brighton star Facundo Buonanotte and they could beat Scottish champions Celtic to sign the player, according to the Daily Mail.

It’s rumored that Buonanotte’s medical at Leicester might happen today.

The Foxes are hoping to find a loan arrangement that would allow him to play in their colors for the whole season.

Last season, Buonanotte made 36 appearances for Brighton in all competitions, with four goals and one assist.

The 19-year-old forward is a target for Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers as the player has been linked to a potential departure from the Seagulls.

Brighton are content that he is leaving on a loan, and it looks like Leicester are the team that will be signing the player.

Feyenoord were reportedly in the process of completing a deal with the player, however, Leicester were reportedly “working on the deal in the background” and they have now won the race to sign him.

The Foxes are strengthening their squad this summer as they are looking to continue their stay in the Premier League beyond next season.

After losing manager Enzo Maresca and midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Leicester were off to a poor start to the summer but after making some signings under new manager Steve Cooper, they are slowly building a competitive squad.

The writing is surely on the wall for Roy Hodgson now after Brighton went 3-0 up against Crystal Palace just after the half hour.

Lewis Dunk had already given the Seagulls an early lead after some poor Eagles marking at a corner, and Jack Hinshelwood’s second saw the Palace back four stood like statues once more.

No sooner had that goal gone in than Brighton came pouring forward again, and Facundo Buonanotte bent in a third.

You could see Palace’s heads drop after that one hit the back of the net, and that doesn’t bode well for the South Londoner’s in the second half.

Mauricio Pochettino criticised the officiating and shared his halftime challenge with his 10-man Chelsea side in the chaotic 3-2 win over Brighton.

Enzo Fernandez and Levi Colwill’s headers from corners had put Chelsea in a comfortable position. But on the stroke of halftime, Conor Gallagher was shown a red card moments after Facundo Buonanotte scored for the visitors.

At halftime, Pochettino told his team they had an “opportunity” and explained how he lifted his vulnerable-looking team.

“I told them it is 2-1 and these things happen. It is a great opportunity and a massive challenge for us to show we are a team and it will improve us,” he stated post-game.

The Argentinian coach was also critical of referee Craig Pawson, during his interview after the game, after he sent off Gallagher, saying: “I don’t think it is a sending off, but I may be wrong.”

Fernandez scored a crucial penalty in the second half against Brighton, ultimately earning three points for Chelsea, Pochettino added: “Why was the penalty of [Mykhailo] Mudryk waiting for VAR and he gave the [Colwill] handball? It is so weird the way we use VAR sometimes.”

Chelsea are now ten points behind fourth placed Aston Villa, and eight points behind London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who occupy fifth.

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher receives a red card on the stroke of halftime, just moments after Chelsea conceded.

It appeared as though Chelsea’s afternoon was going to be comfortable after scoring their second goal of the day, but things can turn bad very quickly in the Premier League.

A wonderful goal from Facundo Buonanotte cut into Chelsea’s lead in the 43rd minute.

And the game turned into Brighton’s favour after Gallagher was dismissed in the 45th minute.

This second half is set up to be an exciting one after it seemed like Chelsea were going to navigate their way to the finish line with minimal fuss. But now they’ll be biting their fingernails after the halftime interval.

With Brighton and Hove Albion flying high at the top of the Premier League at present, the thought of a player wanting to leave them to drop down into the Championship at join Leeds is an odd one to say the least.

However, it isn’t always a bed of roses at a football club, particularly if you happen to be a player that doesn’t often get the opportunity to make their mark.

Though Roberto De Zerbi has clearly tried his best to use as many players as possible since he took over the position from Graham Potter, there are always going to be those that find fault.

It happens in all walks of life, and unless there’s a genuine grievance behind why the player believes he’s being left out, then working hard and being visible are the two things to get him noticed.

Argentinian journalist, Bruno Gonzalez Garcia, has tweeted that his countryman, 18-year-old Facundo Buonanotte, a rising star that could benefit from regular football, is expected to join Leeds on loan in the next few days.

Though he’s perhaps not the biggest name he’s certainly made an impression at the AMEX Stadium, and looked after well by the all whites, there’s no reason why this move can’t be a win win.

The player gets regular football at a high level, whilst Leeds shore up a team who are still struggling with players wanting to leave, such as Willy Gnonto.
