Brentford have agreed a deal with Liverpool to sign Fabio Carvalho according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

It’s been a quiet summer at Anfield for new manager Arne Alot with the Reds yet to make any signings, although they are working on a deal for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi.

However, it appears Slot will have one less player to work with as Carvalho is set to leave the club despite impressing on the pre-season tour of America.

Carvalho set to join Brentford

Carvalho arrived at Liverpool from Fulham for £5m in 2022 and had loan spells at both RB Leipzig and Hull City last season.

The 21-year-old scored nine goals for the Tigers last season as they missed out on the play offs, but is now set for a new challenge in London.

Carvalho had attracted interest from the likes of newly promoted Southampton, who had a bid rejected and Leicester but Romano has reported he’s set to join Brentford.

He took to X.com and said:

“Fabio Carvalho to Brentford, here we go! Liverpool sell Carvalho on a permanent deal.

“Understand fee will be £20m fixed plus add-ons as part of the package. Carvalho has accepted as @abolapt reports; he’s set to undergo medical tests at Brentford soon.”

It’s been reported that Liverpool will receive a fixed fee of £20m with a further £7.5m in add ons and the Anfield outfit will also have a 17.5% sell on clause, with the fee likely to be put towards their pursuit of Spain international Zubimendi.

Fulham are also in line for a cash windfall having secured a 20% sell on clause when they sold the attacking midfielder to Liverpool.

Carvalho made just 21 appearances for Liverpool, scoring three goals for the club and he will make  a much needed difference in the final third for a Brentford squad which finished 16th last season.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has said he would be “over the moon” if striker Ivan Toney remains at the club this summer.

Toney, who has one year left on his current deal with the Bees has been linked with a move away with the likes of Tottenham and Manchester United said to have expressed an interest although nothing has materialised.

The 28-year-old was part of the England squad which went all the way to the final of Euro 2024, and he made an impact for the Three Lions as he set up the winner for Harry Kane in the last 16 against Slovakia and also scored in the penalty shootout victory over Switzerland.

Frank would be delighted if Toney stayed

Toney has spoken about his aspirations to join a top club, but so far no offers have come in for the England international who is said to valued in excess of £50m.

The striker returned from an eight month ban in January but could only manage four goals in 17 appearances across the second half of the season.

It would seemingly be in Brentford’s best interest to sell Toney this summer given they run the risk of him walking away on a free at the end of next season.

Toney has one year remaining on his Brentford deal and could leave on a free next summer.

Frank has been speaking about the striker and said he would be “over the moon” if the Englishman remains at the club.

“What I’m focusing on is that Ivan is a Brentford player, I’m very happy he’s here and if Ivan is here at the start of the season, I’ll be over the moon,” Frank told Sky Sports News.

“I’ve said before we’re a selling club but what I know is Ivan is a player for us.”

Despite his struggles last season Toney is a proven quantity in the Premier League with only Harry Kane and Erling Haaland scoring more than his 20 league goals in the 2022/2023 campaign.

The longer the window goes on the more chance there is for a club to get a great value for money deal for Toney, but strangely no suitors have come forward and made serious moves, although that could change as the both the season and the end of the window draw nearer.

Ivan Toney is prepared to allow his contract to run down and leave Brentford on a free next summer according to talkSPORT.

Toney was part of the England squad that made the final of Euro 2024, and he scored in the penalty shootout victory against Switzerland in the quarter finals.

The 28-year-old is hoping for a big move away from the Bees this summer, but so far progress appears to be slow on a departure.

Toney prepared to run his contract down

The England international returned to action earlier this year following an eight month ban for breaching betting rules.

The striker scored four goals in 17 appearances last season, which all came in his first five games back from his ban.

The Athletic have reported that last summer Toney would have been worth between £80m-£100m, but now he’s understood to be valued at around £50m.

Ivan Toney in action for Brentford.
Toney only has a year left on his contract and is likely to leave Brentford this summer.

Toney had attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal in January but a move to either club failed to materialise.

The striker is due back at Brentford next week after the club’s pre-season tour of Portugal, and a decision is likely to be taken on his future soon, with the chances of a new deal being signed highly unlikely.

However, talkSPORT have reported that Toney would be prepared to run his contract down and leave on a free next summer.

The report adds that the two Premier League clubs who have expressed the most interest are West Ham and Tottenham, with Toney hoping Spurs make a move, whilst clubs in Saudi Arabia are also thought to be interested.

Toney had been linked with a move to Manchester United earlier this summer, but they have subsequently signed Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee, whilst Arsenal and Chelsea appear to have completely cooled their interest.

With teams now into the swing of pre-season and the new campaign drawing nearer, Toney will certainly be a player to keep an eye on, and it’s surprising that more clubs seemingly aren’t interested in a player of his quality.

Brentford’s Ivan Toney insists he’s ready for a big move if it were to come this summer, amid interest from the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham.

Toney is currently in Germany with the England squad as they prepare for their Euro 2024 opener against Serbia on Sunday.

The 28-year-old returned to action in January following an eight month ban for breaching FA betting rules, and scored four goals in 17 Premier League appearances.

Toney ready for big move

Toney has established himself as a proven goalscorer and scored 20 Premier League goals in the 2022/2023 campaign with only Harry Kane and Erling Haaland scoring more.

The England international is out of contract in 2025 and is expected to leave Brentford this summer, although interest in him appears to have cooled.

The likes of Arsenal and Chelsea were strongly linked with a move for Toney in January, but it’s believed United and Spurs are still interested and could battle it out for the striker’s signature this summer.

Toney insists he’s ready for a big move amid interest from Man United and Spurs.

However, Toney insists his focus is on Brentford, but added it’s nice see his named linked with other clubs.

“I’m a Brentford player,” the striker told talkSPORT.

“I have a year left, going into a major tournament, that is my main focus now.

“But after this, I’ll be going back to Brentford and I will be a Brentford player still.

“It’s nice to be linked with other clubs, but I’ve had this in the past, nothing is done until it’s done.

Toney insisted he would be ready for a big move if it were to come, but stated he needed to remain focused.

“Obviously, if it was to come, I would be ready,” he added.

“But I’ve got to remained focused and not let other things and other noise get the best of me and just focus on what I need to do for my club.”

A good Euros would potentially put Toney on the radar of more clubs, although if Harry Kane remains fit it’s unlikely he will play many minutes with the striker vying for a back up role with Ollie Watkins.

Tottenham are reportedly considering a £45m bid for Brentford’s Ivan Toney as Ange Postecoglou looks to add more firepower to his squad.

Spurs are preparing to bolster their ranks as they prepare for a return to European football next season.

Postecoglou has revitalised the north London outfit following difficult spells under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, with Champions League qualification still very much a possibility this season.

Spurs preparing a bid for Toney

Spurs sold star man Harry Kane to Bayern Munich last summer and are still looking to find an out and out replacement for the England international.

The responsibility of finding the back of net has largely fallen on the shoulders of Heung-Min Son with Richarlison not contributing much despite an improved season.

Toney is set for a big move away from Brentford in the summer.

Toney returned from his eight month ban in January and has put in some impressive performances for Brentford, scoring four goals in 14 appearances.

The 28-year-old could be set for a big move this summer, and GIVEMESPORT report Tottenham are considering a move for the striker if there’s a lack of competition for his signature.

It had been reported in January that Brentford wanted £100m for their star man with Spurs amongst the interested clubs along with Chelsea and Arsenal, but he remained at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Toney is out of contract in 2025 and Brentford’s valuation will likely have to decrease or they could risk losing him on a free.

GIVEMESPORT adds the Bees have set a price tag of £60m, which Spurs wouldn’t be prepared to meet, but they may be prepared to go in at £45m and test their resolve.

Interest in Toney has certainly declined with Arsenal and Chelsea seemingly focused on other targets whilst Manchester United reportedly have reservations over the striker.

All this could leave the door open for Spurs with Postecoglou able to offer the striker plenty of first team minutes.

A story claims that following Brentford’s loss to Arsenal, many players got into a heated altercation in the tunnel.

On Saturday, Kai Havertz headed in the game-winning goal to give Arsenal all three points at the Emirates Stadium, leaving the Brentford players devastated.

On the pitch, the Brentford players were unable to control their rage as Nathan Collins was given a yellow card for arguing with the referee and Ivan Toney confronted Gabriel Magalhaes.

However, when the team moved into the tunnel, things didn’t get much better, according to John Cross of the Mirror.

After the game, Collins allegedly yelled at referee Rob Jones, calling him a “f***ing disgrace” and a “cheat” as he was being led out of the tunnel by enraged Brentford players and coaching staff, according to Cross.

The FA cannot take any action since Jones left the issue out of his report, but eyewitnesses said “it was all kicking off.”

Collins was incensed that Havertz, who was thought to have dived before his game-winning goal, had not been given a second yellow card.

In retrospect, Brentford can hardly grumble too much about the outcome, despite their objections.

Dermot Gallagher, a former referee, said on Sky Sports that Brentford were “really, really lucky” not to have conceded a penalty when Mads Roerslev fouled Leandro Trossard before the Havertz incident.

According to Gallagher, Havertz and Collins had sufficient contact for the German to avoid being booked for a simulation.

Collins actually ought to have been given a yellow card for waving a hypothetical card at the referee. According to the rules announced at the beginning of the season, the behavior was designated as a “automatic yellow card.”

Owner Matthew Benham has listed Brentford for sale, hoping to get £400 million for the Premier League team.

Benham made his first investment in the Bees in 2007 and assumed complete ownership of the team five years later. Their ascent from League One to the Premier League, which culminated with their promotion to the top division in 2021, was funded by him.

Brentford has developed a reputation as one of the most innovative clubs in terms of using analytics for recruitment under Benham’s direction. In addition, he managed the smooth transition from Griffin Park to the Gtech Community Stadium.

However, the British entrepreneur is now prepared to distance himself from his childhood team. Following the massive acquisitions of Chelsea and Manchester United, Benham has been more eager to look for outside funding for the London team.

Benham has reportedly recruited Rothschild to manage the process by which he could sell his majority ownership in the Bees, according to Sky News. It is anticipated that the financial services group would soon start that procedure to sell the stake owned by Benham.

According to reports, US investors would be the most interested in purchasing Brentford. As things stand, Benham is regarded as being flexible when it comes to selling a majority or majority stake in the team.

He believes that any deal would value Brentford at over £400 million. Such a valuation would align with the increasing worth of Premier League clubs, as demonstrated by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of a 25 per cent stake in Manchester United for £1.25 billion.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has declared that Ivan Toney would “most likely be sold in the summer”.

Arsenal and Chelsea are showing interest in Toney, who recently returned to action following an eight-month betting suspension.

At the end of the season, the striker’s contract will only have one year remaining, and Frank has acknowledged that he is likely to depart.

During the transfer window that ended last month, Brentford got no offers for the striker; but, they anticipate a flurry of interest in the summer.

This summer, Chelsea and Arsenal both want to strengthen their attacking lines, with both clubs keen to add a new striker.

Frank has claimed that Toney will not be cheap to buy as the Bees know “know what he’s worth”.

“It’s quite obvious that Ivan Toney will most likely be sold in the summer,” Frank told Danish magazine Tipsbladet.

“It can be expensive to sell your best player, but on the other hand, I also know that by the summer, he’ll only have a year left on his contract with us.

“We also know what he’s worth. I don’t think there are many strikers in the world who are better than him right now.

“He’s a really good striker who is in his prime footballing age. Personally, as a coach, I would prefer to keep Toney, but one day it could be fun to see him at a top team.

“This winter, we actually had no bids for him, but it would surprise me if there aren’t a lot of clubs interested in him.”

Ivan Toney has been linked with Arsenal and Chelsea

In 33 Premier League matches last season, Toney managed to score 20 goals and provided four assists.

The striker was called up to the England squad by Gareth Southgate after his brilliant performances and consistency.

The Emirates Stadium is looking most likely his next destination as the Gunners feel he could be the player to lead their misfiring attack.

Arsenal have struggled for goals this season as Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah have both scored a combined nine Premier League goals. Toney could be the perfect player to lead the attack for Arteta’s team and bring the physicality and height that they need.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will not make it easy for Arsenal to sign Toney as they are looking to strengthen their attack too. Toney is not the only player they have been linked with. Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is someone who the Blues are seriously chasing.

Nottingham Forest are closing in on their 14th signing of the summer transfer window and don’t show any signs of slowing down with a move for Brighton and Hove Albion star Neal Maupay being touted for an overall fee of around £15m.

The Frenchman joined Brighton from fellow Premier League club Brentford back in 2019 after notching 25 goals in 43 games for the Bees.

Since then, he has been a relatively impressive striker for the Seagulls with 26 goals in 102 Premier League games – an average of around one goal in every four games.

But surprisingly, Maupay appears as though he could be on his way out of the AMEX Stadium with Forest’s incredible spending spree continuing to pick up the pace – with an initial £10m outlay on the former Saint-Etienne star being sanctioned by club chiefs, according to the Daily Mail.

Forest signed Emmanuel Dennis and Cheikhou Kouyate earlier this week as they aim to add Premier League experience to their squad.

Dean Henderson, Jesse Lingard, Kouyate, Dennis and Neco Williams have all been signed as players with vast Premier League experience, with over 500 appearances between them in that department.

And Maupay will add to that experienced nature with a deal for his services set to be completed early next week.

Brentford already have a goalkeeper that can mix it with the best, with Spain’s David Raya a regular in Luis Enrique’s squad at this point. Yet he will now face competition from Albanian international Thomas Strakosha, who the signed with the Bees on Thursday afternoon.

Joining on a free transfer after his contract at Lazio ran down, Strakosha is also used to being first choice, having been a regular since winning his place back in 2017. Brentford are just the third club of Strakosha’s career. Having come through the ranks in Rome, the 27-year-old spent a solitary season away from the club in 2015/16 on loan at Salernitana.

Speaking to the club media, manager Thomas Franke highlighted his pedigree.

“I am pleased that we have managed to sign a top goalkeeper. He has been number one at Lazio for a long time, which is very impressive. He has played in Serie A and European competition and will bring that experience with him. He fits our goalkeeper model and comes in to a good environment with David Raya and Matthew Cox pushing each other every day.”

Strakosha is Brentford’s third signing of the summer, following promising youngsters Keane Lewis-Potter and Aaron Hickey in the door, who joined for a combined of just under £32m.

The most pressing issue may be midfield however. If, as looks to be the case, Christian Eriksen will not return, then Franke’s biggest task will be to replace the creativity the Danish veteran provided. His impact at Brentford was considerable and without Eriksen, Brentford may face the same struggles before he arrived in January.
