Chelsea and Aston Villa are interested in acquiring the services of Fulham star Andreas Pereira.

The Brazilian international has revived himself since joining the Cottagers from Manchester United back in 2022 in a deal worth around £10 million. He has established himself as one of the mainstays in the Fulham first-team and multiple top clubs are keen on securing his services on the back of his consistent performances.

According to a report from GIVEMESPORT, Chelsea and Aston Villa are both keen on signing Andreas Pereira before the end of the transfer window. The Blues do have a lot of quality in their squad but they lack experienced campaigners and the 28-year-old’s arrival could help the youngsters around him.

Meanwhile, Unai Emery’s Villa are gearing up to feature in the Champions League, they have already made quite a few changes to their squad and are looking to make a few more just in time for the new season. The Spanish manager seeks more quality in the final third and Pereira seems to be a perfect fit for his system.

Andreas Pereira to leave Fulham?

Andreas Pereira will cost £25 million

With just two years left on his deal at the West London club, interested clubs are looking to strike a deal for a cut-price fee. But, Marco Silva is determined to have him in his squad for the 2024/25 season. With João Palhinha and Tosin Adarabioyo no longer at the club, Silva doesn’t want to lose out on another of his stars.

The Cottagers are all set to increase their asking price to over £25 million if an interested club does end up making a formal approach before the end of the transfer window. With 20% of his future sale promised to United, only a significant fee could help Chelsea and Villa prise him away from Craven Cottage.

Here we go soon for Riccardo Calafiori to Arsenal transfer

One of the big stories of the day is with Riccardo Calafiori and Arsenal – the ‘here we go’ is coming because there is an agreement between Arsenal and Bologna on a €40m fixed fee, €5m in add-ons, and a sell-on clause for Bologna. Calafiori had already agreed a contract with Arsenal back in June, which would be until 2029, so everything is ready for him to go to Arsenal.

Calafiori has asked Bologna to be allowed to fulfil his dream and go to Arsenal, so it will be completed in the next days. The next key steps will be between Bologna and Basel to agree on payment terms for the 50% sell-on clause that Basel had for their former player. They’re set to receive a big amount of money, and so they now have to agree with Bologna now to structure this part of the deal, while Arsenal are just waiting.

Despite some reports that the deal had stalled, the reality is that the negotiations never stopped. It was not easy, but they kept going, and now there’s an agreement. Arsenal fans can be excited by this signing – I think he can do great in Premier League, he’s an excellent player, we saw that with his form in Serie A and with Italy at the Euros also.

Another story to watch at Arsenal is that Crystal Palace will bid for Emile Smith Rowe. Let’s see if Arsenal reject the bid, like they did with Fulham, or if they will be ready to negotiate. Still, Smith Rowe looks like being an interesting situation to watch in the next days.

Another Arsenal sale could be Eddie Nketiah, who has been attracting strong interest from Marseille since last week. Now it’s true that, as reported in France, Marseille have presented a proposal to Arsenal – there is still no agreement, but there is a negotiation ongoing between the two clubs.

Manuel Ugarte to Man Utd latest, plus truth on Sancho and Mount future

There’s a chance for Jadon Sancho to stay at Manchester United – a lot will depend on the next weeks. Pre-season, feelings with the manager, performances…he has chances to stay. Interest from other clubs remains but there have been no official bids so far, so it’s still quiet. Sancho’s decision to clarify with Erik ten Hag also shows how they can be ready to continue together, but it depends on what happens in the next weeks.

There were reports yesterday about Mason Mount potentially leaving Manchester United. From what I’ve heard on the club and player side, however, is exactly the same, and that’s that Mount doesn’t want to leave Man United. He wants to do his best to show his skills at United after an unlucky first season with injuries. And United, from what I’m hearing, have no intention to sell Mount, so at the moment it’s absolutely under control and he’s set to be involved in the project of Erik ten Hag.

Meanwhile, Manuel Ugarte said yes to Manchester United a few days ago – they’ve reached an agreement with the player and his agent Jorge Mendes, who also represents Leny Yoro. Ugarte wants to go to Man United and so now they’re negotiating with PSG – also because United know that PSG are advancing well in talks to sign a new midfielder – Joao Neves.

Paris Saint-Germain have presented an official offer to Benfica for Neves – around €70m, but Benfica want more. Still, they understand that they will not get the full €120m release clause for Neves – they always tried to ask for this clause and this is why a deal didn’t happen earlier, but they now know that Neves has agreed terms with PSG.

Neves is convinced by the PSG project under Luis Enrique, and Benfica also know that PSG will not pay the clause. For now, the €70m offer is not enough, but negotiations are ongoing, and so PSG look like they could sign Neves in the next days.

So, it could be one in and one out in the PSG midfield as Ugarte is an option for Man United. However, I don’t have any substantial update on Adrien Rabiot and Man United now, despite links. The player’s camp is talking to several clubs after leaving Juventus on a free transfer, but at the moment I’m not aware of anything imminent with Man United.

Dani Olmo clause expires – what next for Bayern and Barca target?

Dani Olmo’s €60m release clause at RB Leipzig will now expire. So what does it mean? At the time of writing no one has triggered the release clause – there was no last-minute deal, it’s not happening. The relationship between Olmo and Leipzig remains excellent, and the idea remains that if Leipzig receive good proposals, even after the release clause expired, Olmo can still leave the club.

This is the idea, though of course it’s more difficult without a release clause as negotiations will be needed between interested clubs and Leipzig. Still, there is room for things to happen, even if there is nothing currently going on with Chelsea and Manchester City, despite rumours. Man City appreciate the player, but any reports of them working on the deal are fake news, they’ve not been working on the deal. Chelsea, meanwhile, believe they are already well covered with left-footed attacking players.

Still, there is interest from other Premier League clubs, so it could be an interesting situation to watch, let’s see if they will move in the next few days or weeks. Meanwhile, as I’ve previously reported, Olmo remains an option for Bayern Munich in case their deal for Xavi Simons collapses. Olmo is still on Bayern’s list, so let’s see what happens with Simons, as Olmo is still an option for Bayern.

This is nothing new – Olmo has been on Bayern’s list since May, with Max Eberl, former director at Leipzig, knowing the player very well. Barcelona also appreciate Olmo and have a good relationship with his agents, because he shares agents with Mikayil Faye, so they had the opportunity to ask about his situation. Still, for Barca, the priority is Nico Williams.

Let’s see what happens with Williams, but he’s the obsession of Barcelona right now. Negotiations are ongoing on the player side, and then let’s see what Barca decide to do with him or with Olmo eventually, but at the moment there’s still no bid.

In other news…

Alphonso Davies – Now Bayern are open to keeping Alphonso Davies and see what happens in contract talks, but if he doesn’t extend, Davies remains an option for Real Madrid in 2025, but Real Madrid were never gonna pay €50m or €60m for him when he’s just a year away from being a free agent.

Andriy Lunin – Much has been written about Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, and the reality is that he could leave Real Madrid this summer, but to name specific clubs we will have to wait for a few more days. As I said earlier in the week, Real Madrid have not received any approach for Lunin from Chelsea so far.

Julian Alvarez – Manchester City keep considering Julian Alvarez as a key player for them, so it would have to be a big proposal or there is no chance for all the clubs interested. There is no way for loan, I also saw that kind of reports. More talks between Julian’s camp and City in the next days will take place to discuss future steps.

Andreas Pereira – I don’t want to deny any colleague but I don’t have information on talks between Chelsea and Andreas Pereira, or Chelsea and Fulham so far, despite what has been reported in Brazil. Chelsea’s focus is on a right-footed winger, striker, and goalkeeper. On Pereira’s future in general, it will depend on opportunities and what kind of proposals he will receive.

Transfer news journalist Fabrizio Romano has discussed Chelsea’s priorities for this summer’s market amid links with Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira.

Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column, Romano explained that he’s not aware of anything concrete going on between Chelsea and Pereira, or between Chelsea and Fulham, with the Blues’ current priorities seeming to be elsewhere.

Romano says Chelsea are currently focusing on a new striker, a new right-footed winger, and a new goalkeeper, so it’s fair to say that Pereira wouldn’t really make sense as a priority.

Pereira shone at Fulham last season, though, so it could perhaps make sense that there’ll be interest in him at some point this summer, with Romano admitting that the Brazilian’s future could depend on what kind of offers come in for him.

Andreas Pereira to Chelsea?

That might perhaps open the door for Chelsea later, but for now it seems fans don’t need to read too much into this story.

Pereira transfer: Chelsea links played down by Romano as Blues’ focus lies on other positions

“I don’t want to deny any colleague but I don’t have information on talks between Chelsea and Andreas Pereira, or Chelsea and Fulham so far, despite what has been reported in Brazil,” Romano said.

“Chelsea’s focus is on a right-footed winger, striker, and goalkeeper. On Pereira’s future in general, it will depend on opportunities and what kind of proposals he will receive.”

Pereira struggled at Manchester United as a youngster, but he’s shown real promise at Fulham and it would be interesting to see him try his luck at a big six club again now that he’s matured and got more experience at the highest level under his belt.

Fulham will no doubt hope to keep Pereira, however, after the blow of losing another key player in Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich this summer.

The Brazilian midfielder is keen to move on from Fulham and take the next step in his career.

After failing at Manchester United, he has finally found his peak form again and shown for Fulham last season how good he can be.

Pereira is high on Eddie Howe’s list, as he is one of the Magpies’ main targets to bolster their team for the coming season.

Now that he’s established himself as a strong Premier League player at Fulham, his performance has sparked curiosity about his future this summer, with links to Newcastle and Tottenham.

“Moving to Newcastle would be good for Andreas Pereira if he can play regularly, if he doesn’t get that then it will be tricky,” Gilberto Silva said courtesy of Bet365’s Copa America coverage, as reported by Chronicle Live.

“We have seen with some players, sometimes they move to clubs and things don’t work out. He was at Manchester United before, things didn’t work very well for him, but he was younger then.

Andreas Pereira to Newcastle United?

“He went to Brazil, was better, came back to Europe to Fulham and you can see he’s more mature now. Mature enough to handle those kinds of situations, those kinds of changes in his professional life and personal life, just to not let this change affect his game.

“He is now expecting a bigger step for him, which is quite normal. I think he did his best for Fulham. If he does move to Newcastle and play with Bruno, it would be a Brazilian midfield for Newcastle, which would be great to see. Bruno has done a great job for Newcastle. People love him, the club and the fans. Let’s see what’s going to happen.”

Newcastle should go ahead with their interest

Pereira has demonstrated a desire to leave Fulham in order to pursue trophies and play more competitive football—or, at the very least, to represent whoever signs him in European competitions.

Pereira looks to suit the bill as Howe and Newcastle’s recruiting staff are constantly searching for and recruiting fresh players to bolster the squad.

Newcastle United are set to be busy in the transfer market as they aim to add depth to their squad.

The Magpies suffered an injury crisis in 2023-24 that derailed their season.

Their participation in the Champions League increased the number of matches they played last season and the injuries they suffered in all areas of the pitch have increased the demand for a bigger squad at St. James’ Park.

In order to address their issues in the midfield, they are targeting a move for Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira, according to Football Insider.

With three goals and seven assists in 34 Premier League starts last season, the Brazilian international was one of Marco Silva’s most important players.

The 28-year-old’s performance at the club level was so good that in March, he received his first call-up to the national team since 2018.

If Newcastle move ahead with their interest in the midfielder, he could line up alongside his compatriot Bruno Guimaraes for the Magpies next season.

Pereira’s contract with Fulham expires in the summer of 2026, and he has been linked to a move away from Craven Cottage recently.

The report mentions that the player is open to a move away from the club and Newcastle could provide the new adventure he wants right now.

Newcastle United need a new midfielder this summer

The Magpies would particularly move for the player if one of their midfielders leave the club this summer, with Sean Longstaff linked to newly promoted Leicester City.

The Fulham midfielder is currently away on international duty with Brazil at the Copa America.

An impressive showing in the competition can fast track his move away from Fulham and Newcastle would be ready to grab the opportunity to sign him.

He would add creativity, physical presence and passing quality to the Newcastle United midfield and Howe would love to have a hardworking player like him in the team.

Brazilian media claim that Andreas Pereira of Fulham is being targeted for a move by Newcastle United.

According to Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte, Newcastle, Tottenham, and Aston Villa have all expressed an interest in the attacking midfield player.

Pereira has made up his mind to leave Fulham this summer.

Globo claims that Fulham are seeking between £30 million and £35 million for him, so he will not be cheap.

The former Manchester United player, who joined the Cottagers in the summer of 2022 for a reported amount of over £10 million, has rekindled his Premier League career.

Before this month’s Copa America, the midfielder was called up to the Brazil national team, earning a spot over players like Joelinton and Casemiro.

They will play Paraguay, Colombia, and Costa Rice in Group D.

Andreas Pereira Newcastle United Premier League
Andreas Pereira to Newcastle United?

Because Pereira plays in a position that the Magpies are not currently trying to reinforce, signing him does not make a lot of sense for Newcastle and Eddie Howe.

With Sandro Tonali set to return from his suspension in August, Newcastle will have one more option in the midfield position.

Newcastle should focus on other positions

Signing Pereira for Newcastle United should not be the priority in the summer as they have other positions to strengthen.

After the injuries to their defenders, the Magpies are looking to sign new central defenders this summer.

Along with defensive additions, Howe wants to sign a goalkeeper ahead of the new season.

A move for Pereira will only make sense if they lose a midfielder and it could be possible with Manchester City and Arsenal interested in Bruno Guimaraes.

Just as happened against Bournemouth and Southampton last season, Arsenal were hit with an early sucker punch by Fulham at the Emirates Stadium.

There was no danger to the home side at all until a lazy ball from Bukayo Saka left Aaron Ramsdale exposed after the Gunners defence had all moved up.

With the keeper back-pedalling, Andreas Pereira looked as though he was trying to chip the keeper but he caught him off guard instead by stroking the ball into the bottom corner with less than a minute on the clock.

Arsenal

Links between Arsenal and Ollie Watkins are premature – he could actually end up signing a new long-term contract with Aston Villa this summer – click here to find out more.

Mikel Arteta praises January signing Jakub Kiwior after a strong showing against Chelsea: “I really like Kiwior, that’s why we signed him. He’s been getting better and better. He’s more settled. He has the potential at his age to be great and he had a big task against the players he had to face today, and I think he did really well.”

Aston Villa

Bayern Munich are not actively working on signing Ollie Watkins at this stage, despite reports. They have other priorities and the player isn’t entirely sold on the idea of moving to Germany.

Aston Villa are planning to offer Watkins a new long term deal soon with improved salary – click here for more details.

Aston Villa have made a formal proposal to Mateu Alemany to start new project and work together with Unai Emery. It’s one of the most concrete options for Alemany, who will leave Barcelona on June 30.

Barcelona

Director Mateu Alemany leaves Barcelona, confirmed by a club statement: “Alemany will end his time at the club on 30 June to begin new project — despite having a contract until 2024. FC Barcelona will shortly announce changes in the football executive structure.”

They added that “despite formally leaving the Club on 1 July, Mateu Alemany has committed himself to completing the first team’s transfer business this summer, even if it should be at the final moments of the transfer window.”

Jorge Mendes, speaking after landing in Barcelona yesterday: “I’m here to speak to Ansu Fati’s family. He’s a top player, he’s a phenomenon… we all saw his skills before the injury. Now we will see what’s gonna happen.”

Ansu Fati’s father Bori: “Ansu will stay at Barcelona. That’s for sure. He stays, it’s guaranteed.”

Bori Fati just told this to Barcelona press right after meeting with Ansu’s agent Jorge Mendes.

Sergio Busquets: “I have more or less decided about my future. Now there are a few days off and when I return I will surely notify the coach.”

The current feeling is that Barca expect Busquets will be staying with the club for one more season.

Bayern Munich

Ollie Watkins has been outstanding for Unai Emery

Bayern Munich are not actively working on signing Ollie Watkins at this stage, despite reports. They have other priorities and the player isn’t entirely sold on the idea of moving to Germany.

Aston Villa are planning to offer Watkins a new long term deal soon with improved salary – click here for more details.

Could Sadio Mane leave Bayern this summer? It’s complicated – but we have all the details here.

Chelsea

All documents are signed for Kendry Paez to complete his transfer to Chelsea in 2025.

The 2007-born midfielder will join on a long-term contract, and we’re now just waiting on club statement to confirm the deal. The fee will be close to €20m to Independiente del Valle — but main part in add-ons.

Frank Lampard explains his decision to bench Joao Felix against Arsenal last night: “He has a huge talent. I really need to find a clear structure. He’s not definite if you ask him where he wants to play. Maybe he’s not a 9, I need a 9 for the way I want to play. Whatever his future is, I don’t know that.”

Lampard after the 3-1 loss to Arsenal: “The players care, trust me. Chelsea fans may talk about players not caring but I don’t believe it. The lads want to do well but have to understand what that means everyday, from training on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. How you prepare, maintain yourself.”

Chelsea are not in the running to sign Sadio Mane – click here to find out who they want instead!

Fulham

Andreas Pereira fractured his ankle and will undergo surgery today — after his excellent season with Fulham. Sources close to the Brazilian midfielder state that the plan is to return during the pre-season.

Leeds United

Confirmed: Leeds United announce that director of football Victor Orta has left the club by mutual consent.

Andrea Radrizzani said: “I am deeply saddened — it is clear that it is time to change direction and therefore we have agreed that Victor will leave the club.”

Javi Gracia will also be sacked as manager, with Sam Allardyce to be appointed until the end of the season.

Liverpool

Liverpool are one of the clubs eyeing up the transfer of Celta Vigo wonderkid Gabri Veiga – click here for more exclusive info!

Manchester City

Pep Guardiola has described Declan Rice as “an exceptional player”. He’s always appreciated Rice as top midfielder but the race this summer will include many top clubs. The player’s price tag is still not clear, it will be up to West Ham.

Pep Guardiola: “Messi/Haaland? You can’t compare any player with Messi — Leo is the most complete player I have ever seen. Vision, passing, competitiveness, many things… hopefully Haaland can be so close like Leo, it will be great for us!”

Manchester United

Erik ten Hag gave a heartfelt speech to Alejandro Garnacho and his family after the youngster’s new contract:

“It’s a big, big moment, so I [will say] some words. He is improving and he has improved a lot. That is why we are now here and he deserves this, a new contract. It is deserved by his performance and he has fought his way into the team. So, it was a huge step and he did magnificently. Now, I hope and I think this new contract is an inspiration and a motivation to do even better. Because it is a big step and today you deserve it.”

Jurrien Timber is set to cost £50m this summer amid links with Manchester United and other top clubs – click here to find out more.

PSG

Paris Saint-Germain have decided to suspend Lionel Messi with immediate effect for two weeks, sources confirm. The suspension will take place now after Messi’s trip to Saudi Arabia was NOT authorized by the club. He will not play or take part in training with PSG for the next two weeks.

West Ham

Pep Guardiola has described Declan Rice as “an exceptional player”. He’s always appreciated Rice as top midfielder but the race this summer will include many top clubs. The player’s price tag is still not clear, it will be up to West Ham.

Despite Fulham doubling their lead thanks to a close-range striker from attacking midfielder Andreas Pereira, Leeds United have set up a grandstand finish in Saturday afternoon’s early Premier League kick-off at Craven Cottage.

The home team took a second-half lead through Harry Wilson, who lashed in a beautiful volley which beat Bernd Leno before clipping the underside of the bar and finding the back of the net.

And adding to the Whites’ pressure as they sink further and further into relegation territory, former Man United midfielder Pereira made it two-nil from close range.

However, less than seven minutes after the Londoners’ South American doubled his side’s advantage, Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford pulled one back.

At the time of writing, there are a little over five minutes left to play – can Javi Garcia’s Leeds United salvage anything from the game?

Though it isn’t a foregone conclusion that Mason Mount will leave Chelsea this summer, the lack of movement in contract negotiations would suggest the Englishman will move on, and it seems the Blues are wasting no time identifying targets, one of which might come as a surprise.

Depending on your point of view, Graham Potter’s job has either been made easier or much harder with such an influx of new talent.

The likes of Enzo Fernandez, Joao Felix et al all need to be integrated by the coach, and inevitably that will mean that some players that were guaranteed starters in the past will now have to fight hard for their place week in and week out.

Some, no matter how much they try, will find themselves sidelined. Such is the nature of being at a progressive club.

Andreas Pereira to Chelsea?

Mount’s form has fallen off a cliff this season with only one goals scored since mid-October, per WhoScored. That probably goes some way to explaining why he’s only played 90 minutes on six separate occasions since mid-September.

That clearly isn’t good enough for a current England international, and has to be the reason why the Blues appear to be making alternative plans.

According to ESPN, quoting sources, former Man United and current Fulham star, Andreas Pereira, is being looked at as a potential replacement for Mount.

At between £25m-£35m (per ESPN) he’d represent a bargain in today’s market, but it’s negligible whether one good season at Craven Cottage would see him as a mainstay of the midfield at Fulham’s west London rivals.
