Wolves are mulling over including Dan Bentley in a part exchange deal to sign Arsenal shot-stopper Aaron Ramsdale.

Wolverhampton Wanderers want to reinforce their goalkeeping position before the start of next season and they have their eyes set on Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale. According to a report from Football Insider, Wolves are considering using Dan Bentley in a deal to bring the English international to the club.

David Raya’s arrival at Arsenal saw Ramsdale get reduced to the bench. He played a backup role last season after being their number one for years. The 26-year-old has no intentions of sitting on the bench next season and he is pushing for a move away from the club.

While he still has two years left on his deal at the North London club, they are not looking to stand in his way. Mikel Arteta’s team are ready to sanction his departure but they want in excess of £30 million to sell the English goalkeeper. With his future at the club uncertain, the Gunners have been looking to sign Dan Bentley from Wolves to be their second choice. The 31-year-old was a part of their academy back in the day and they feel he could be a great addition to their team.

Aaron Ramsdale to leave Arsenal?

Aaron Ramsdale needs a fresh start

While Wolves are ready to sell Jose Sa and replace him with Ramsdale, the £30 million asking price could prove to be very difficult for them. With the Gunners keen on Bentley’s signature, Wolves are thinking about making him a part of their deal. While Arsenal would welcome the addition, it is unlikely to have any effect on the asking price.

The North London club’s initial offer of £50,000 for Bentley was turned down. While they were planning to make a fresh £300,000 offer, with Wolves looking to make him a part of the Ramsdale deal, it will be interesting to see how things pan out.

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is expected to leave the club this summer after losing his place in the starting line up.

Mikel Arteta made Spanish goalkeeper David Raya his number one choice at the Emirates Stadium last season which moved Ramsdale to the bench.

The England international has only started one Premier League match since December and he is now thinking about leaving the Gunners for more playing time elsewhere.

The North Londoners have shown interest in signing Wolves goalkeeper Dan Bentley this summer in order to sign a new goalkeeper as their number two behind Raya since Ramsdale is sooner or later leaving the club.

According to talkSPORT, Arsenal and Wolves could be involved in a swap deal involving their goalkeepers.

Wolves could lose first choice goalkeeper Jose Sa this summer as interest has increased in his services and that could offer the Gunners and the Midlands club a chance to make a swap deal.

Gary O’Neil’s team could use Bentley along with cash and offer that to Arsenal to sign Ramsdale.

The English goalkeeper wants to play regularly and that is something he cannot get under Arteta at Arsenal.

The Gunners have made the loan signing of Raya permanent this summer which shows that the goalkeeper is part of their long term plans.

Arteta is an admirer of how Raya plays from the back and helps the team in building attacks.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper showed his quality last season for the Gunners and helped the defense keep 16 clean sheets in the league.

Aaron Ramsdale needs to leave Arsenal for better opportunities

Ramsdale has to move away from Arsenal this summer as spending time on the bench is also hurting his chances to become the number one goalkeeper for England as well.

He wasn’t dropped from the Arsenal starting line up because he was playing poorly but because Arteta’s playing style needed another goalkeeper.

Ramsdale would be a fine addition to any Premier League club this summer and with the player desperate to move away from Arsenal, he could be available in a bargain deal.

Arsenal have managed to complete the permanent signing of goalkeeper David Raya this summer and they are now closing in on a deal to sign defender Riccardo Calafiori.

The Gunners battled hard again last season in the Premier League but lost on the final day of the season to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta’s team is closing the gap on the Premier League winners every season and it remains to be seen if they can finish in first place and win their first league title since 2004.

The club is ready to sign new players in order to add depth to the squad so that Arteta can have another go at the league title next season.

The North Londoners have been linked with a move for Wolves goalkeeper Dan Bentley but according to The Sun, the Gunners are struggling to sign him since he is being offered a new contract by his club.

After losing his spot in the team to Raya last season, Aaron Ramsdale is expected to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer in order for more playing time.

In that case, the Gunners would need a new goalkeeper to become their number two behind Raya.

Although Ramsdale has not yet left the club, the Premier League giants are already preparing for such a scenario.

While the Gunners manager has not been deterred, he is beginning to consider his alternatives after the Midlands club extended an offer to the goalkeeper to keep him at Molineux.

Arsenal are ready to explore other options as they feel that Wolves are demanding a high fee for the 31-year-old goalkeeper.

Dan Bentley has past connection with Arsenal

Before starting a new career at Southend United in 2009, Bentley was a member of the Arsenal youth setup.

Over the years, he has enjoyed a number of successful stints with top clubs.

He joined Wolves in 2023 and has been acting as Jose Sa’s back up. The goalkeeper has just made nine appearances in the last one and a half year.

The Gunners would need a new goalkeeper soon as Ramsdale would not accept another season on the bench at the Emirates Stadium.

He needs to leave Arsenal in order to make progress in his career and build on his impressive past performances for Arteta’s team.

Arsenal have completed the signing of their second goalkeeper of the summer in Tommy Setford.

They were strongly linked with a move for the Ajax goalkeeper and Fabrizio Romano revealed last week that the London club have reached an agreement with the Dutch side.

And Arsenal have officially confirmed the transfer earlier today.

They took to their official website to announce the signing of the England youth international.

The deal is subject to the completion of the due processes.

Setford will join Arsenal’s under-21 team but will also train with Mikel Arteta’s first team.

Speaking about the move, Setford said:

“I already know Ethan [Nwnaeri] and Myles [Lewis-Skelly]. They’re great guys and I can have a good laugh with them. I spent a few camps with them, so I know them well. I just saw them for a quick meet and greet!

“I’m looking forward to learning new things next season and pushing myself to another level. For the short term, it’s very important now to get a feel for the group and start to know everyone.”

He becomes Arsenal’s second permanent signing. They signed David Raya on a permanent deal from Brentford after impressing on loan.

And they are eyeing a third keeper already with eyes set on Wolves Dan Bentley.

They have already had a £50,000 bid rejected for the goalkeeper as reported by The Mirror.

Arsenal have said to have lodged a second bid worth £300k but Wolves are seeking a few close £1m

Arsenal are interested in signing the Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Dan Bentley.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper is a target for Arsenal as they look to replace Aaron Ramsdale. The Englishman is expected to leave Arsenal this summer in search of regular playing time. David Raya is currently the first-choice goalkeeper at the club and Ramsdale will not want to stick around as a squad option.

It seems that Arsenal are looking at the 30-year-old Wolves goalkeeper as a potential backup option to Raya.

Bentley has been a backup option for Wolves as well, and he could be keen on a move to Arsenal. They are one of the biggest clubs in the country and the opportunity to play for them can be quite attractive. Wolves are uninterested in selling the player unless there is a substantial offer on the table. It will be interesting to see if Arsenal will follow up on their interest with an official proposal.

According to a report from the Athletic, Arsenal have already contacted the Premier League club regarding a move for the 30-year-old Englishman.

Arsenal certainly have the finances to get the deal done, and they should look to follow up on their interest with an official bid in the coming days.

Arsenal need more depth in their squad

They must look to add more quality and depth through their squad if they want to compete with Manchester City once again. The Gunners have missed out on the title in the last two seasons and they will be desperate to go all the way this time around. Although Bentley might not be a regular starter for them, he could be a valuable addition to the first team squad and they could benefit from his experience and quality.

The 30-year-old could be a useful option for Arsenal in the cup games and during rotation.
