Tottenham record goalscorer Harry Kane has backed Dominic Solanke to be a hit for his former club.

The 26-year-old striker completed a £55m move to Spurs on Saturday following a 2023/24 season in which he netted 21 times across all competitions for Bournemouth — including 19 strikes in the Premier League to finish behind only Alexander Isak (21), Cole Palmer (22) and Erling Haaland (27) in the Golden Boot race.

Solanke will, of course, be seen by many as the long-awaited Kane replacement for Spurs, who sold England’s record goalscorer to Bayern Munich last summer.

Kane returned to his old stomping ground to play the final 10 minutes of Bayern’s 3-2 win over Tottenham in the Visit Malta Cup friendly competition.

Solanke wasn’t fit to feature in the match but was present at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, being unveiled to supporters ahead of kick-off. That also gave him the chance to bump into Kane and receive some encouragement from the Spurs legend.

Dominic Solanke of Tottenham Hotspur applauds the crowd ahead of the pre-season friendly match between Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on August 10, 2024 in London, England.

“It should be great. Dom is a great player,” Kane said of one-time England international Solanke after Saturday’s match (via Sky Sports).

“He plays with high intensity, high speed. For sure he’ll get chances in this team with the way Ange plays.

“I think it’s a really good signing. I saw him in the dressing room and I wished him all the best and of course, I hope he has a great season.”

With their friendly schedule complete, Spurs will now prepare in training for their Premier League opener away at Leicester City a week on Monday.

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of striker Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth.

Per BBC Sport, Spurs will pay an initial £55m fee plus add-ons worth up to another £10m, with the 26-year-old signing a deal through the summer of 2030.

“We are delighted to announce the signing of Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth. Welcome to Tottenham, Dominic!” Spurs wrote on X.

Solanke joins off the back of an excellent 2023/24 campaign in which he scored 21 goals across all competitions, including 19 in the Premier League to help the Cherries finish 12th in the table.

A one-time England international with the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool on his CV, Solanke has been a late bloomer and has undoubtedly enjoyed his best form as a Bournemouth player across the last couple of seasons.

Tottenham’s search for a striker has been no secret, with the club never truly replacing Harry Kane, who left for Bayern Munich last summer following a 435-game stay in which he scored 280 goals.

Solanke is Tottenham’s fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Yang Min-hyuk — although he’s the first over-18 acquisition of the window.

Spurs begin their 2024/25 Premier League campaign away at Leicester City a week on Monday, although it remains to be seen whether or not Solanke will be available as he’s recently been nursing a foot injury.

West Ham will only move for Trippier if Wan-Bissaka deal breaks down

Talks with Aaron Wan-Bissaka continue for West Ham and he remains their priority for the right-back position, although it is a complicated deal to get over the line.

Despite the rumours, I’m not aware of talks for Arnau Martinez, and Kieran Trippier will only be an option if the Wan Bissaka deal falls through.

There’s no imminent move for Vladimir Coufal either from what I heard.

Chalobah will take his time and choose the best option

On Trevoh Chalobah’s situation, Crystal Palace are interested but it’s the same with clubs from abroad.

Chalobah will take his time to decide what will be the best opportunity for him.

What I’m told too is that Crystal Palace also have Lacroix on their shortlist, a player that’s really appreciated by Glasner.

So, a decision will be made once Marc Guehi’s future is clarified as talks with Newcastle are still ongoing, not done yet.

De Gea has a verbal agreement with Fiorentina

David de Gea is back, guys.

The former Manchester United goalkeeper, finally back after more than almost 13/14 months with no activity on the pitch, is gonna play in Serie A.

Let’s wait for the signature because we know that with agents it’s always kind of dangerous on the market, but the verbal agreement is in place.

David said yes to Fiorentina. One year contract plus one year option, €2m net salary plus €1m in add-ons.

Good luck to David, after a long time out of the game for him.

Arsenal continue working on Nketiah and Merino deals

I also wanted to mention what’s going on at Arsenal, because we know that they are busy with the situation of Eddie Nketiah after selling Emile Smith Rowe to Fulham.

It was kind of a tense situation with Marseille because they had an agreement with the player. Nketiah wants to go to Marseille, he’s open to joining and attracted by the project.

But the negotiations were really tense in the recent days because Marseille had a new bid rejected and so they started exploring other options.

What they are doing now is to renegotiate again with Arsenal for Eddie Nketiah.

What I’m hearing is that they presented a new proposal in the last 24 hours, but now they want to close the deal only at their conditions – because they already spent other money in other positions.

Remember that Arsenal are also working to close the deal for Mikel Merino.

He hasn’t been called up for Real Sociedad’s next game because they say that he’s not 100 percent fit, but we know the transfer is behind this story because Mikel Merino has an agreement with Arsenal.

The contract is already agreed. The player said yes. He knows that Mikel Arteta wants him. This is the reality.

Arsenal have been closing in on the deal since last week, but they need to agree on the payment structure, payment terms, so a work in progress.

Barca pushing for Nico but Athletic are relaxed

Lots of questions still regarding Nico Williams, and as I wrote on Substack yesterday guys, no changes…

Barça keep calling Nico’s agent, but at the moment Athletic Club remain completely confident and optimistic to keep him at the club.

They are sure that Nico will end up staying. Barça have a dream and they are trying to make it a reality, but Athletic are currently relaxed.

Still chances for Ivan Toney to find a new club

I think there’s still a chance for a move to happen this summer for Ivan Toney.

There could be movements in the next days and weeks, but there’s nothing imminent so far.

We have to see about which clubs have a concrete interest, because about 10 different clubs have been rumoured to be interested in him this summer.

I don’t want to put out names without any concrete updates but, for sure, it’s still an open situation.

Richarlison’s focus won’t change Tottenham’s plans for Solanke

There are no changes to Tottenham’s plans on signing Dominic Solanke, despite Richarlison wanting to stay.

Solanke remains the priority target.

Richarlison is fully focused on Spurs and Tottenham were already aware of this so his situation doesn’t change the plan to bring in more players.

It’s never easy to negotiate with Bournemouth but Spurs are trying.

Chris Smalling could be on the move this summer

No concrete talks are taking place for Chris Smalling now but it’s yet another open case.

Roma are looking for a new centre-back and Smalling could leave in the case of a good proposal for both Roma and the player.

Jadon Sancho’s situation is still wide open

I wanted to finish by mentioning Jadon Sancho. It’s important to say that his situation too remains open.

He is 100 percent part of the Man United team, but in case of a formal proposal in the next three weeks, there could still be movement for Jadon Sancho.

Man United could be open to doing business and the player could also be open to the move, so it all depends on the proposals.

Now, everything is okay, but PSG and others have been making contact with Sancho’s agents.

Still no bid but the situation is one to watch until the end of the window.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly on the verge of completing the signing of Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke in what is expected to be a club-record deal.

According to the latest report from The Athletic, Bournemouth have sanctioned the sale of their star striker to Spurs, with the transfer fee said to be in the region of £60 million.

Tottenham close to signing Solanke

While Tottenham have not activated Solanke’s £65 million release clause, the agreed fee is set to be a substantial investment in their attack.

The clubs are currently engaged in final talks to finalise the deal, while Solanke has already agreed on personal terms with Tottenham. The 26-year-old is reportedly desperate to join the North London club.

Solanke’s arrival at Tottenham comes as the club continues its search for a reliable goalscorer following Harry Kane’s departure last summer.

Spurs have struggled to find a suitable replacement, with Richarlison failing to make the desired impact as the team’s leading striker. The Brazilian forward is also linked with a potential move away from Tottenham this summer.

Solanke, who has proven his goal-scoring prowess in the Premier League, is seen as an ideal fit for manager Ange Postecoglou’s style of play.

His versatility, work rate, and ability to lead the line will make him a valuable addition to Tottenham’s attacking options.

Tottenham on the verge of signing Solanke

Dominic Solanke’s incredible goalscoring form

Since joining Bournemouth from Liverpool, Solanke has established himself as one of the Cherries’ most important players.

He has scored an impressive 77 goals and provided 31 assists in 216 appearances for the club.

His standout season came in 2021/22 when he netted 29 goals and contributed 7 assists, playing a crucial role in Bournemouth’s promotion to the Premier League.

Last season, Solanke continued his fine form by scoring 19 goals in 38 league games, finishing as the joint fourth-highest goalscorer in the Premier League.

The addition of Solanke is expected to significantly bolster Spurs’ attack, providing a much-needed focal point in their forward line.

Ange Postecoglou will be acutely aware of how important getting in some new faces at Tottenham before the start of the new season is.

The North Londoners were almost nailed on for a finish in the Champions League places last season, but an horrendous end to the campaign saw Aston Villa finish in fourth in their stead.

It might well be a blessing for a team that are still emerging under the Australian, given the extra load that will be placed on the playing staff, however, the associated extra money could’ve opened up more commercial possibilities for the club and, potentially, seen the manager handed a bigger transfer pot.

Tottenham aware of striker’s transfer position

In any event, Spurs remain on the trail of Bournemouth’s brilliant centre-forward, Dominic Solanke.

He’s believed to not come cheaply, and that perhaps might’ve gone some way to explaining why the club appeared to accede to a move for Richarlison.

Recent news has indicated the the Brazilian striker isn’t interested in a move to Saudi Arabia, however, thus denying Spurs the chance of recouping around £60m.

Any thoughts that this could see the move for Solanke hit the buffers is wide of the mark.

“There are no changes to Tottenham’s plans on signing Dominic Solanke, despite Richarlison wanting to stay,” Fabrizio Romano told CaughtOffside for his exclusive Daily Briefing.

“Solanke remains the priority target. Richarlison is fully focused on Spurs and Tottenham were already aware of this so his situation doesn’t change the plan to bring in more players.”

If Richarlison continues to rebuff all offers for his services, it will be interesting to see if his manager goes with a front two to accommodate the Brazilian and Solanke, should the latter arrive, or if the former is relegated to the bench and forced to fight for a starting place.

Spurs are intent on signing a new striker this summer.

The Lilywhites have yet to replace Harry Kane after he joined Bayern Munich this time last year.

Ange Postecoglou spent last season juggling his front three which included Son Heung-min, Brennan Johnson, Timo Werner and Saudi-linked Richarlison. However, keen to revert Son back to his preferred left-wing position, the no-nonsense Aussie has prioritised signing a new number nine.

The London-based giants have been linked with a move for Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke following an impressive individual campaign that saw him score 19 goals from 37 Premier League starts.

Spurs shift focus to Brentford’s Ivan Toney

The Cherries’ £65 million asking price has prevented negotiations from progressing though, forcing chairman Daniel Levy to sound out alternative targets, and according to journalist Ben Jacobs, Spurs are now showing a ‘concrete interest’ in Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

Spurs are interested in signing Ivan Toney from Brentford.
Spurs are interested in signing Ivan Toney.

The 28-year-old, who is entering his contract’s final 12 months, is expected to leave the Bees this summer.

Having spent much of last season sidelined due to suspension following a guilty verdict for betting-related offences, Toney, who was part of the England squad which reached this summer’s EUROs final, is looking to reignite his career as he eyes a big move.

And while most of the league’s top clubs have been linked at some point during the summer window, it now seems Spurs are frontrunners for the Englishman’s signature.

During his four years at the Community Stadium, Toney, who is represented by leading agency CAA Stellar, has scored 72 goals and registered 23 assists in 141 games in all competitions.

Tottenham are ready to sell Richarlison this summer should the North London club complete a deal for Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke.

Spurs are pushing to complete a deal for the striker as Tottenham continue talks with the Cherries to try and come to an agreement over a transfer fee for the 26-year-old.

The London outfit do not want to activate the £65m release clause in Solanke’s contract, reports Football Insider, but states that a deal is advancing for the Englishman to move to Tottenham ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Ange Postecoglou has been searching for a new number nine this summer as the Australian coach was never given a replacement for Harry Kane a year ago when the England international completed a major move to Bayern Munich.

It looks like the Spurs boss has found his man with Solanke coming off the back of the best season in his career.

The striker netted 21 goals and assisted a further four across 42 matches in all competions and will be hoping to improve on this at Tottenham should the forward complete a move given that he will have more talented players around him in North London.

Tottenham are pushing for Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke

Dominic Solanke’s move to Tottenham is not good news for Richarlison

Should Solanke complete a transfer to Tottenham this summer, Football Insider state that Spurs are confident that they will be able to secure a Saudi Arabian buyer for Richarlison before the summer transfer window shuts.

The Brazil international has been linked to the Middle East throughout the current window but none of the Saudi Pro League teams have made an official move for the forward.

Richarlison has been at Tottenham since 2022 having made the £60m switch from Everton but it is a transfer that has not worked out for anyone. The 27-year-old has struggled to live up to expectations in North London and it seems that Postecoglou doesn’t count on the player a lot ahead of the new season as the Spurs boss prepares for the arrival of Solanke.

Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke has gained significant traction, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano providing an exciting update.

Linked with Solanke for some time, the North London club’s interest has intensified over the past week.

Despite Solanke’s £65 million release clause, Tottenham are said to be exploring alternative solutions. Previous reports have suggested that Spurs are preparing an offer worth £50 million plus a player to entice Bournemouth into a deal.

The player himself is reportedly keen on the move, with Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou said to be actively driving the pursuit.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now shared the latest on the move, confirming that talks between the two clubs are underway, with Tottenham pushing to finalise the deal.

Solanke has given the ‘green light’ to Spurs, and it is now up to the club to reach an agreement with Bournemouth.

He shared the following update on X:

“Understand Tottenham are pushing to get Dominic Solanke deal done, talks underway with Bournemouth. Solanke has given the green light to Spurs as negotiations are ongoing to find an agreement. Tottenham want Solanke, as exclusively revealed last week.”

Solanke’s impact at Bournemouth

Since his arrival at Bournemouth in January 2019, Solanke has delivered impressive performances. During the 2020-21 season, he netted 15 goals, becoming the joint-top scorer for the club in the Championship.

Solanke in action for Bournemouth

He continued his goalscoring form the following season, where he scored 29 goals and provided 7 assists, playing a crucial role in Bournemouth’s promotion back to the Premier League.

Last season, Solanke set a personal record with 19 goals in the Premier League, further solidifying his status as a top-tier striker.

His goal-scoring ability and consistent performances make him an appealing option for Tottenham as they look to strengthen their attack.

Tottenham are reportedly in talks with Bournemouth over the potential transfer of Dominic Solanke after getting the green light from the player to the move.

Solanke was impressively prolific for Bournemouth last season, finally showing the potential that many saw in him during his spell as a youngster at clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool.

Although he’s proven a bit of a late bloomer, Solanke now looks set to earn himself another big move, with Spurs now negotiating a deal for under his £65million release clause, according to Fabrizio Romano.

See below for the latest update from Romano on X, formerly Twitter, with the journalist explaining that Spurs are pushing to get this deal done…

Solanke could be ideal for THFC as they surely need a long-term replacement for star player Harry Kane, who left for Bayern Munich last summer and who was never really adequately replaced.

Tottenham fans will surely be happy with Solanke as an option to come in up front, as there aren’t realistically that many other options out there, especially players with Premier League experience.

Dominic Solanke to Tottenham?

Ange Postecoglou made a promising start in north London last season, but the Australian manager will need more fire-power in attack if he is to get the club back into the top four, which is surely going to be the minimum requirement for the season ahead.

Solanke will also surely relish this challenge as it’s a chance to play for a club who could be in with a realistic chance of winning trophies and playing in Europe.

It’s no real secret that Tottenham are looking to boost their firepower up front before the start of the 2024/25 campaign.

The Lilywhites’ 74 goals scored last season was the worst out of the Premier League’s top seven teams, and though they were often excellent going forward, Ange Postecoglou clearly feels the need to improve in that area.

He recently said as much in a quote picked up by The Standard.

Could Tottenham land brilliant striker before the deadline?

“It’s still the area of the park we’re really probably the thinnest when I talk about squad-wise at the moment, so obviously that’s a focus for us,” the Australian noted.

One of the names that’s consistently being mentioned in dispatches is Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke.

The Cherries hit man certainly proved his worth to his current employers last season, with 20 goals scored and three assists provided, per WhoScored.

Tottenham are believed to be interested in Dominic Solanke
Tottenham are believed to be interested in Dominic Solanke

Compare and contrast that with Richarlison, who only managed 11 goals and four assists, the Brazilian’s well publicised mental health issues notwithstanding.

The Standard suggest that any move for Solanke could rest on Richarlison leaving, and that may be because the former would reportedly be a club record capture for the North Londoners.

With less that two weeks to go before the start of the new season, and just over three before the transfer window closes for business until January, clearly Spurs don’t have long to be able to seal any deal.

If Daniel Levy truly wants his club to be up their challenging for the Champions League spots and going deeper into domestic competition, then he needs to give his manager the tools to do the job.
