Enzo Maresca admitted he’s “very excited” by the signing of Pedro Neto following Chelsea’s final pre-season game against Inter Milan on Sunday.

The Blues concluded their pre-season campaign with a 1-1 draw against the Italian champions at Stamford Bridge thanks to Lesley Ugochukwu’s last minute equaliser.

It was Maresca’s first game in charge at his new home and represented his final chance to see his team in action before they kick off the new campaign against Manchester City on August 18th.

Maresca excited by Neto

The Blues have been busy in the transfer market and the Chelsea faithful got the chance to see their latest signing as Pedro Neto was paraded on the pitch at half time.

Chelsea agreed a deal with Wolves on Friday worth £51.4m for the Portugal international which seeming appeared out of nowhere, and he’s signed a long term contract with the club.

Neto is a proven quantity in the Premier League and will add depth and quality to the wide areas, with the fact he can play on both wings seen as a huge plus by Chelsea.

Neto joined Chelsea for £51.4m.

Following the game Maresca admitted he was very excited by the signing of the 24-year-old and said he can offer many things.

“Im very excited, he can offer many things. He can play on the right side, he can play on the left side, he’s very good one-on-one,” he told Chelsea’s website.

“It is one more option we have because there will be many, many games in the season, so we need a big squad.”

Neto, who has had a number of injury issues over the past few seasons was limited to 20 Premier League appearances last season in which he provided nine assists and scored two goals and Chelsea will be hoping he can stay fit.

The Portuguese will train with his new team-mates this coming week and could make his debut for the club against City.

‘Here we go’ x3 for Manchester United, plus update on midfielder search

Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham is a ‘here we go’ and it’s a crucial story because, as I reported previously, Manchester United were waiting for Wan-Bissaka to leave in order to be able to bring in a new right-back and also a new centre-back.

Now it’s happening, with Wan-Bissaka joining West Ham in a permanent transfer, and it’s an important sale as United could have lost him on a free when his contract would have expired next summer. Inter were also interested in the 26-year-old, though it would have been in a year’s time as a free agent, not in a swap deal this summer. Still, Wan-Bissaka decided to accept the offer from West Ham for a five-year contract, and he’ll have his medical tests with the Hammers this morning.

So, everything is done for Wan-Bissaka to move from Man United to West Ham for £15m – this is the value of the deal, and West Ham are truly on fire at the moment with a big summer that has seen them appoint Julen Lopetegui as their new manager whilst also completing deals like Wan-Bissaka, and also Jean-Clair Todibo, Max Kilman, Guido Rodriguez, Crysencio Summerville and others.

As I previously reported, United want to attack the market and now we can say that it’s ‘here we go’ for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui to move to Old Trafford. The deal is done with Bayern, and we have to congratulate United because the deal has been completed as they wanted – the timing was longer than expected, but it was worth it for United.

It was not always easy negotiating with Bayern, who for months insisted on guaranteed money, not add-ons, but United always wanted to get the deals done with add-ons. Now we can say that De Ligt will be joining the Red Devils for €45m plus €5m in add-ons. Bayern sources say these add-ons will be quite easy to reach, but it’s still structured quite favourably for United, and for Mazraoui it’s also €15m plus €5m in add-ons.

Now both players will travel to join United and both are set to sign five-year deals. In the case of De Ligt, this agreement was actually reached with his agent Rafaela Pimenta back in June, so he’s been waiting and waiting for United and was never negotiating with any other club. Mazraoui has also been waiting patiently since July, with United at times considering other right-back options like Vanderson and Denzel Dumfries. Still, Mazraoui looks a good option as he knows Erik ten Hag well from their time at Ajax, and he can fill in at left-back as well as on the right-hand side.

So, this is the double deal between Bayern and United, and now Bayern are expected to sign one more centre-back. Jonathan Tah’s agent is still working on the deal for him to move to the Allianz Arena so let’s wait for developments there, but he’s expected to be the new centre-back for the Bavarian giants.

Matthijs De Ligt is on his way to Manchester United

United also remain busy in the search for a new midfielder – they spoke with the agents of Sander Berge and have considered other options, but their top target remains Manuel Ugarte. PSG will have to drop their price as United will not pay crazy money, otherwise they could also sell one player in that position, it could be Scott McTominay or Casemiro, we will see, but they will likely need a sale in order to finance the deal.

Still, United could also go for a cheaper midfielder, so Berge could be one to watch after contacts with his agent, while Sofyan Amrabat remains a player on their list even after they initially decided not to sign him permanently from Fiorentina after last season’s loan came to an end. Amrabat remains appreciated by Ten Hag, so there are some Plan B options behind Ugarte, but let’s wait and see what happens with PSG on that one.

Two new signings close for Chelsea, but “impossible” for this Blues star to stay

Samu Omorodion is in London and ready to sign his seven-year deal with Chelsea, while Pedro Neto is also close to completing the formalities of his move as the Blues plan to unveil him in front of their fans at Stamford Bridge today.

Still, we also know that there are a few Chelsea players now out of the project – Romelu Lukaku, who has a three-year deal in place with Napoli, but also Kepa Arrizabalaga who is still dreaming of Real Madrid.

As well as that, Armando Broja is no longer training with the first-team, and it’s the same with Trevoh Chalobah. Both players are on the market, with Chalobah’s asking price at around £30m. It’s also important to say that David Datro Fofana is another player who could leave Chelsea on a permanent transfer, or on loan with an obligation.

Lukaku will not stay at Chelsea. Impossible. I keep saying it’s Napoli for Lukaku, regardless of the Osimhen story. Conte wants him, he wants to work with Conte, a three-year deal is ready and Napoli can accelerate soon. I don’t see any other option. Nothing is happening with Osimhen this week, there are no updates, but it’s not that strongly linked to Lukaku, and in any case the plan remains for the Nigerian striker to leave Napoli. Chelsea are still waiting, but for Osimhen we have to be patient because he is still not accepting a loan move, which is the only option at the moment for Chelsea, and also because Osimhen will not reduce his salary.

So, the conditions of the deal will have to change, or else other things could happen with the Osimhen story in the final few weeks of this summer’s transfer market.

There has been speculation about other potential Chelsea exits as well, with Carney Chukwuemeka linked with Barcelona. Still, my understanding is that there is nothing concrete so far. Chelsea have not received any bid for Chukwuemeka and the situation is currently quiet. Then in the next days we will see… but at the moment there has been no offer made to Chelsea from Barca.

Chelsea have also not received proposals from Juventus for Raheem Sterling so far, and Sterling has received no contact from Italy yet, despite rumours. What I’m told is that Juventus are working on the Nico Gonzalez deal with Fiorentina as their priority for the new winger.

Three Liverpool transfer updates

Liverpool are still working to convince Martin Zubimendi to join the club and are waiting for his final decision. Just a reminder that other clubs such as Arsenal have also been interested in the Real Sociedad midfielder in recent times but were unable to persuade him to move, though there were no negotiations from the Gunners for him this summer.

Elsewhere with Liverpool, Fabio Carvalho is closing in on completing his move to Brentford. It’s a permanent deal worth £20m plus add-ons. However, there is no news at all on Virgil van Dijk, despite some stories at various points this summer.

It’s currently very quiet as Liverpool are counting on Van Dijk and there are no significant updates so far. In my opinion, he should stay and continue as he’s a key player for Liverpool and new manager Arne Slot will need him and the quality and experience he brings.

In other news…

Jadon Sancho – There’s still no major update on Jadon Sancho’s future, but he remains one of the cases of this market. PSG have been making contact with Sancho’s agents, but there’s no bid yet, and he’s back in the Man United squad so let’s see what they will decide to do.

Marc Guehi – Newcastle are still there, yes. It’s not over yet. They want to try again but Crystal Palace insist on £65m fee. There are currently no other clubs involved, but Newcastle have not completed the deal yet so it’s one to follow in the next days.

Vladimir Coufal – There has been talk of West Ham sales, and it is the case that Coufal could leave and also some players upfront, but for now I can guarantee that focus remains on completing signings. The Wan-Bissaka deal is being sealed, then West Ham will discuss outgoings in the final three weeks, with nothing imminent yet.

Pedro Neto has been pictured in the stands at Stamford Bridge ahead of Chelsea’s official announcement actually being made.

See below as Nizaar Kinsella of the BBC shares a snap of Neto in attendance for today’s Chelsea game as they prepare to take on Inter Milan in a pre-season friendly and unveil their latest of many summer signings while they’re at it…

Neto has been a top performer for Wolves and looks an exciting new addition for Chelsea, who have mostly signed younger and less proven players this summer.

The Blues have been building a long-term project under their current owners, and that has meant the club’s fans have had to be patient as some of their young players like Mykhailo Mudryk, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo have taken a bit of time to really hit their stride.

Neto, however, gets the balance right as he’s young but has already played a lot of football in the Premier League, so should have little trouble hitting the ground running for his new club.

One imagines this picture of Neto means an official club statement is now just imminent, as everyone can plainly see that the 24-year-old is in west London with his new team.

Chelsea could loan out Marc Guiu or Samu Omorodion if they manage to complete a deal for Victor Osimhen according to reports.

The Blues are set for a busy final few weeks of the window and are close to wrapping up the signings of Omorodion and Pedro Neto.

Whilst further incomings can’t be ruled out the main priority is departures as Chelsea need to reduce their squad size ahead of the new season.

Guiu or Omorodion could leave on loan if Osimhen arrives

Although the likes of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Armando Broja and Trevoh Chalobah need to be moved on, one of Chelsea’s biggest priorities is to sell Romelu Lukaku on a permanent basis.

The Belgian has a £38m exit clause in his contract and is currently training away from the Chelsea first team.

The Telegraph have reported that Chelsea have informed Napoli they must meet the clause if they wish to sign the Belgium international as the Blues don’t want to send him on another loan.

Samu Omorodion in action Alaves.
Omorodion is set to join Chelsea in a deal worth £34.5m.

As the end of the window draws closer it remains to be seen if Chelsea’s stance might change, but Lukaku has reportedly agreed a three year contract with Napoli.

The major hold up in the Lukaku deal is Osimhen as Napoli have yet to sell the Nigeria international, but they have held talks with Chelsea over the possibility of the striker being involved as part of the deal that would see Lukaku head to Naples.

It would appear this saga could head to the final days of the window but The Telegraph add that if Chelsea were to land Osimhen it’s possible summer signings Guiu or Omorodion could head out on loan.

It would make most sense to loan out Guiu considering he’s just 18, whilst spending £34.5m on Omorodion to then immediately loan him out would seem strange, although a possible arrival of Osimhen would lessen his chance of getting regular minutes which he needs to develop.

Pedro Neto has arrived in London and will undergo a medical on Saturday ahead of his move to Chelsea according to Fabrizio Romano.

It’s been a busy summer at Stamford Bridge and as well as a new manager the Blues have made a number of signings in an attempt to strengthen their squad and qualify for the Champions League.

Chelsea are reportedly in the market for a striker and a winger, and after agreeing a deal worth £35m with Atletico Madrid for striker Samu Omorodion they have moved quickly to secure another attacking signing.

Neto to have Chelsea medical on Saturday

In news which seemingly came out of nowhere it was reported on Friday that Chelsea had agreed a deal with Wolves to sign Portugal international Neto for €60m with a further €3m in add ons.

The Blues managed to keep the deal from the media until it was virtually done and it came as a surprise to many, not least Chelsea fans.

Romano has provided an update on Neto and reported the Portugal international is now in London and will undergo his medical on Saturday.

He took to X.com and said:

“Pedro Neto has arrived in London, medical tests booked on Saturday as new Chelsea player.

“Understand Neto will sign contract valid until June 2030 plus option for further season. #CFC believe he’s perfect to play on both wings, flexible and talented to add quality.”

Neto had been attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs including the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal, but he’s now closing in on a move to Chelsea.

Reports have suggested both Chelsea and Spurs had player plus cash deals rejected before Chelsea agreed a straight cash deal with Wolves.

Ben Jacobs has reported that the players Chelsea offered were Trevoh Chalobah and David Datro Fofana.

Neto is a top talent and at 24 years of age there’s plenty of room for improvement, although the one concern is his injury record which has seen him miss 102 games over the past four seasons.

The winger made 20 Premier League appearances last season, scoring two goals and providing nine assists and Chelsea’s biggest task will be keeping him fit.

Tottenham saw a player-plus-cash offer rejected for Pedro Neto.

Spurs have been strongly linked with a move for the Wolves star this summer.

In fact, it was previously reported that the North London outfit had held talks with the player over personal terms as well, showing just how keen the club were to sign him.

Tottenham’s player-plus-cash offer rejected

And it is now revealed by Wolves correspondent for Daily Star, Liam Keen, that Tottenham went as far as making a tempting offer to Wolves for the player.

He claims that Spurs made a player-plus-cash offer, including Oliver Skipp as part of a deal, however, the offer was rejected.

Sharing the update on X, he stated:

“Spurs & Chelsea both had player+cash offers for Neto rejected by Wolves, with Spurs’ offer including midfielder Oliver Skipp.”

Instead, the player is now on his way to Chelsea after the Blues made a more convincing offer worth £51.4m plus bonuses.

Wolves have accepted the offer and the player is now set to have a medical before the move is finalised.

Neto’s impressive form at Wolves

Neto has been a star player for Wolves since joining the club, scoring 14 goals and assisting 24 in 135 appearances.

He continued his impressive form last season, scoring 3 goals and assisting 11 in 24 game across the league and the FA Cup

Chelsea have managed to surprise fans yet again in the summer transfer window.

This time, the Blues have agreed a deal with Wolves worth €63million to sign their winger Pedro Neto, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.

The Premier League giants have continued their spending spree this summer by signing the Portuguese winger.

Neto is a versatile player who can play on both the flanks or behind the striker, with the Wolves winger well known for his ability to take on players and his extreme pace to get out of tricky situations.

Neto has been consistently performing for Wolves for a long time and because of his fine displays, he had been linked with a move to Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham.

However, the Blues have won the race to sign him and they are going to pay €63million for him, including add-ons.

Wolves Pedro Neto Chelsea.
Wolves star Pedro Neto is heading to Chelsea.

The Premier League club have agreed personal terms with Chelsea and a medical has been booked for the pacey Wolves winger.

Neto was involved in eleven Premier League goals last season, assisting nine goals and scoring two.

His season was affected by injuries and he only featured in 20 Premier League matches.

Chelsea would be hoping to see Neto avoid injuries in the coming season.

Chelsea boss Maresca will have to make tough decisions

It remains to be seen how Neto will fit into the Chelsea squad as they already have too many wide options.

Christopher Nkunku, Raheem Sterling, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke can all play in the same position as Neto.

It is up to manager Enzo Maresca now who will have a headache to keep all these players happy at the club.

Manchester City are reportedly weighing up whether or not to target a replacement for Julian Alvarez in attack, with Wolves winger Pedro Neto mentioned as one name they’ve looked at.

In his Daily Briefing column, Fabrizio Romano explained that Man City could be a bit creative with their work in the transfer market to replace Alvarez, who is closing in on a move to Atletico Madrid.

Romano has suggested that City could look at a winger or false nine instead of a direct replacement for Alvarez, and it’s interesting to see that Neto is someone they’re keen on, as per the Telegraph.

The Portugal international has been a little injury prone in recent times, but has otherwise shone during his time in the Premier League and looks like someone who could make the step up to playing for one of the big six clubs in England.

There could now be an opening for him at Man City next season, once Alvarez’s move is finalised, and depending on Pep Guardiola’s plans for Savio, who has joined from Troyes.

Neto transfer: Can Man City win the race for his signature?

One imagines Neto will have plenty of suitors this summer, so it remains to be seen if any other clubs will emerge ahead of MCFC in the race for his signature.

Sources recently told CaughtOffside about interest from Arsenal and Tottenham, but that’s yet to materialise into anything more concrete.

Pedro Neto to Manchester City?

Wolves surely won’t want to lose such an important player, but many key figures at the club will also surely accept there’s only so long they can keep an immense attacking talent of this calibre.

There’s also surely an opportunity for big money to be made by cashing in on someone like Neto, and in this era of strict Financial Fair Play regulations, it might prove to be too good for Wolves to turn down.

Liverpool have still not made a new signing and the Premier League season starts in less than ten days.

The Reds are the only Premier League team not to strengthen their squad this summer.

It looked like the arrival of Arne Slot at the club would bring new players at Anfield but the Dutch manager is happy to work with his current squad at the moment.

No doubt Liverpool are blessed with quality in all the positions but last season showed that they need new additions, particularly in defense.

Liverpool are set to miss out on their transfer target Pedro Neto of Wolves as Tottenham are ready to accelerate their interest, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

As per GiveMeSport, Liverpool are interested in Portugal international Neto as well as his teammate Rayan Ait-Nouri.

However, Tottenham are intensifying their interest in signing the right-winger which would see the Reds miss out on another transfer target.

It would be a huge blow for Slot, who has already missed out on signing defender Leny Yoro to Premier League rivals Manchester United.

Pedro Neto Wolves Liverpool Premier League
Pedro Neto of Wolves has been linked with Liverpool and Tottenham.

Neto has the ability to play on both the wings as well as in the central position.

His attributes as a player would be ideal for the Reds as the player provides pace, dribbling quality and crosses while in attack, much like iconic Liverpool wide attackers Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

The winger’s career has been hampered by fitness issues but due to the depth in the Liverpool attack, Neto would not be required to play every game for the Reds.

Spurs need a new wide attacker just like Liverpool

Tottenham have stepped up their efforts to sign the player due to Ange Postecoglou’s demand of signing a wide attacker.

The Portuguese winger has experience in the league and he has shown his goal scoring and goal creation ability on a regular basis.

Whoever signs the 24-year-old will be getting a talented addition to the squad who can give their attack a new dimension.

Newcastle are focusing on strengthening their defence, working with particular emphasis on landing a new goalkeeper and centre-back.

Burnley’s James Trafford is gaining more and more importance for the club according to CaughtOffside sources, and this week will be important for his possible arrival.

That’s because the Magpies will present an offer of around £22m for the Englishman, who has already agreed personal terms with the club.

Newcastle set for transfer spending spree

Add-ons in this deal will play a crucial role in getting closer to Burnley’s demands.

Regarding a new centre-back, internal evaluations are still being made.

Malick Thiaw is still on the Magpies’ list, but the Premier League outfit has doubts about the player’s physical condition, particularly in light of the price tag set by AC Milan; £35m.

This aspect of the potential transfer is making Newcastle lean toward other targets and Marc Guehi is currently the preferred name.

Crystal Palace are willing to listen to any offers for the England international, as long as they are priced north of £50m.

Vitao from Brazilian outfit, Internacional de Porto Alegre, is another profile under the radar, and he has been proposed to the club through intermediaries CaughtOffside sources have learned.

West Ham have also approached the player who already has an agreement in principle with Real Betis.

If Newcastle can stay within the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), they will also get to work on landing a new winger.

Pedro Neto and Oscar Bobb are the top names on their list, with Noni Madueke and Johan Bakayoko in in the race to play alongside Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.

The latter, despite many rumours, is discussing the renewal of his contract with the Magpies.
