Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has confirmed he will stay at the club following the win over Manchester United in the Community Shield.

City picked up their first piece of silverware of the new season as they beat United 7-6 on penalties after the game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes.

Following the game there was more good news for City as Ederson confirmed he would be staying at the club despite being strongly linked with a move away.

Ederson confirms he’s staying at Manchester City

Ederson had been strongly linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League for the majority of the summer with both Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad expressing interest and some reports had suggested he’d agreed personal terms with Al-Nassr although a fee was never agreed between the clubs.

The 30-year-old also came out on social media to deny suggestions he was affected by praise Stefan Ortega received at the back end of last season as the German came in to replace the injured Brazilian.

On City’s pre-season tour of America Guardiola had expressed his desire for the Brazil international to stay and Ederson has now confirmed he will remain at the Etihad.

Ederson celebrates winning the community shield.
Ederson has decided to remain at City despite being linked with a move away.

“The decision has been made,” he told ESPN Brazil.

“I will stay at Manchester City this season, I spoke to Pep and it was crucial, I’m happy to stay, fully focused on winning more titles here.

“I also spoke to the board, directors, teammates and I’m staying.”

Ederson has been at City since 2017 after joining from Portuguese giants Benfica and has been a mainstay for Pep Guardiola between the sticks.

The keeper has won six Premier League titles, the Champions League as well as multiple League and FA Cups.

Ederson kept 16 clean sheets in 43 appearances in all competitions and has made a total of 332 appearances for the club.

Winger Savio remains the only incoming at City so far, but the club will be absolutely delighted that Ederson has decided to stay as he’s a huge part of how the team play.

Pep Guardiola has said he will be counting on Julian Alvarez next season as doubts persist over the Argentine’s future.

Alvarez’s future has been a topic of conversation throughout the summer with the striker hinting on several occasions he could leave the Etihad.

It’s been a busy summer for the 24-year-old, who has taken part in both the Copa America and the Olympics for Argentina, but he’s set to return to Manchester after they lost to hosts France in the quarter finals.

Guardiola counting on Alvarez

It’s been reported that Atletico Madrid are in the early stages of talks with Manchester City for the World Cup winner, whilst Paris Saint Germain are also said to be interested.

Premier League sides Arsenal and Chelsea are also believed to be interested in Alvarez’s signature but as of yet neither side has acted on their supposed interest.

City are thought to value the striker in excess of £70m and it’s been reported they don’t want to lose the Argentina international, but a sale can’t be ruled out if it suited all parties.

Julian Alvarez celebrates scoring for Manchester City.
Alvarez has hinted multiple times he could leave City this summer.

Following City’s 4-2 victory over Chelsea on their pre-season tour of America Guardiola was asked if he had an update on the former River Plate man’s future.

“No news,” he told reporters.

“I don’t have anything to say. He will come back. I count on him, but he said in the news that decisions will be made all together.

“Now he has to rest and when he feels ready to come back he will come back. I’m sure when he comes back I’ll hug and congratulate him for the Copa America, for the Olympics and we will start to work together.”

“This is the reality. What happens in the meantime, I have a thousand million things to think about the team.”

Alvarez is thought to want more first team football despited playing 54 times in all competitions last season, but he faces a near impossible task to dislodge Erling Haaland from the starting line-up.

Chelsea are looking to sign a right winger and one name they appreciate is Manchester City’s Oscar Bobb according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

It’s been another summer of change at Stamford Bridge with Enzo Maresca replacing Mauricio Pochettino in the dugout, whilst the Blues have also made seven summer signings.

The club are looking to do more business and are believed to be in the market for a striker as well as a right winger ahead of crucial season.

Chelsea have appreciation for Oscar Bobb

The Blues heavily pursued Michael Olise earlier in the summer but the Frenchman subsequently joined Bayern Munich, and they recently been linked with Karim Adeyemi and Francisco Conceicao although nothing has materialised.

Chelsea currently have Noni Madueke as a right wing option and whilst Cole Palmer played their last season he’s expected to operate more centrally under Maresca.

It will be interesting to see what the Blues do as they have exciting South American talents Kendry Paez and Estevao Willian arriving in 2025.

Oscar Bobb celebrates scoring for Manchester City.
Bobb has impressed for City on their pre-season tour of America.

Jacobs has reported Bobb is a name appreciated by Chelsea as they look for a new wide man, but it’s understood the Norwegian is happy at The Etihad.

The 21-year-old is currently impressing for City on their pre-season tour of America and he could be in line for a more prominent role under Guardiola in the new campaign.

He made 26 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring two goals and providing two assists as City became the first team in history to win four Premier League titles in a row.

Chelsea have already reaped the rewards of signing one talented youngster from City in Cole Palmer, who won the Premier League Young Player of the Year award in his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge.

Despite their appreciation of Bobb the chances of them pulling off a move for the Norway international appear slim and unless he decides he wants to leave it’s hard to see this move happening.

Julian Alvarez insisted he hasn’t said anything bad in response to Pep Guardiola’s comments on his future.

It’s been a quiet summer at the Etihad so far with Brazilian winger Savio the only arrival for the English Champions.

City are currently on their pre-season tour of America and have lost their first two games against Celtic and AC Milan with Guardiola’s former side Barcelona up next.

Alvarez responds to Guardiola’s comments

City are open to moving a number of players on this summer with the likes of Kalvin Phillips surplus to requirements but the future of World Cup winner Alvarez has been a topic of conversation.

It had been reported earlier in the summer that the striker wanted to leave for more regular football and he had been linked with Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint Germain whilst Chelsea were also thought to be interested.

Alvarez only joined City in January 2022 from Argentine side River Plate and last season he featured regularly for City making 54 appearances in all competitions, scoring 19 goals and making 13 assists.

Alvarez will take a decision on his future after the Olympics.

Speaking on the pre-season tour of America Guardiola admitted he was aware Alvarez was considering his future and that when he thinks about it he will inform the club.

“I knew that he [Álvarez] said that he is going to think about it,” Guardiola said.

“When he finishes thinking about it, his agent is going to call [City football director] Txiki [Begiristain] and we are going to see what happens.

“I know he wants to play in important moments but the others [do] too. I have 18 or 19 players that want to play important games.

“He played a lot but if he wants more, it’s fine. When he thinks about it he’ll inform us.”

Alvarez, who is currently at the Olympics with Argentina has responded to those comments and insisted he hadn’t said anything bad.

“I didn’t say anything bad,” Alvarez said.

“I just said I need to think, as I always do after every season to make balance.”

“I always say I’m comfortable at Man City, a great club.”

With the amount of games City have and possible injuries Alvarez will feature a lot, but of course if Erling Haaland’s fit he isn’t going to start ahead of the Norwegian, so if he does want to be a regular starter he might have to go elsewhere.

Pep Guardiola hailed Oscar Bobb’s display as “electric” against AC Milan as the talented youngster impressed once again.

City suffered their second successive pre-season defeat as they went down 3-2 against Milan in New York, having previously lost 4-3 to Celtic.

Guardiola has got a very young squad on the pre-season tour with a host of regulars absent following their exploits at the Euros and Copa America.

Guardiola hails “electric” Bobb

With a number of first team stars absent there’s a huge opportunity for youngsters in the squad to impress and show Guardiola they deserve to be part of the first team squad for the upcoming season.

One such player is 21-year-old attacker Bobb, who is on the fringes of the first team and made 26 appearances in all competitions last season as City became the first side to win four Premier League titles in a row.

Bobb has certainly taken his opportunity so far and registered his third assist in two matches as he set up Erling Haaland for the opener, which follows on from his goal and two assists against Celtic.

Bobb has impressed on City’s pre-season tour so far.

The Norwegian is certainly making the most of the opportunities given to him and Guardiola hailed his performance against Milan as “electric.”

“He’s electric, in the small spaces he’s really good,” Guardiola said.

“Sometimes in the last part he has to be more composed and reduce his speed, for example the chance he missed he has to be more calm, shoot or pass to Erling and Jack.

“It’s a question of time, he’s young but his work ethic is unbelievable, he can play as a striker, pockets, right or left winger.”

Bobb has recently been linked with a move away from the Etihad, but given his performances in pre-season so far, if he remains at the club it looks like he could be set for a much more prominent role next season.

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson admitted that nothing is decided in regards to his future, and that whatever happens is in “the hands of god.”

The Brazilian has been consistently linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League this summer, and  Al-Ittihad are currently showing the most interest in his services.

Ederson captained City and played 79 minutes on Saturday against AC Milan as they lost 3-2 in New York to suffer their second consecutive pre-season defeat.

Ederson hasn’t decided his future

The 30-year-old arrived at the Etihad from Portuguese side Benfica in 2017, and has been a key part of City’s success under Pep Guardiola.

However, the Brazil international has been strongly linked with a move to Saudi Arabia this summer, with a move to Al-Nassr collapsing despite agreeing personal terms.

Al-Ittihad are trying to sign the former Benfica man, but Fabrizio Romano has described a deal as difficult, with City thought to want €50m-€60m for the shot stopper.

Ederson has been strongly linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League.

The Athletic reported earlier this week that Ederson had been affected by the praise Stefan Ortega had received after the German filled in for him whilst he was injured.

Ederson released a statement on Instagram describing the claims as totally false, but Ortega is certainly pushing him for the number one spot and has been rewarded with a new contract at the Etihad.

Guardiola had stated before the game how he would love the Brazilian to stay at the club, and Ederson has spoken on his future saying he’s happy at City , but nothing has been decided.

“I am happy at Manchester City, comfortable with my teammates, I am enjoying it, too,” he said.

“I’m recovering my physical condition, so I’m calm, whatever happens is in the hands of God, he knows the right path and I’ll be happy with what he gives me.

“There’s no definition [on his City future]. Hearing this from Pep [that he wants him to stay] is gratifying.

“Eight seasons with him, many good moments, bad moments. Easy to work with, a football genius, hearing it from him is nice.”

Next up for Ederson and his City team-mates is a game against Guardiola’s former side Barcelona in Florida as preparations for the new season continue to ramp up.

Pep Guardiola has admitted that as things stand right now Savio will be the only signing Manchester City make this summer.

It’s been a quiet summer for the Premier League champions, who are currently in America on their pre-season tour, and face AC Milan in New York on Saturday having lost their first pre-season friendly 4-3 against Celtic.

Guardiola’s men were pushed all the way by Arsenal in the title race last season, but so far only Brazilian winger Savio has arrived at the Etihad as the club look to become the first side ever to win five Premier League’s in a row.

Savio the only signing City will make?

City of course have a very good squad already, but the lack of activity has been considered a surprise.

It must be said that closest rivals Arsenal have only completed a deal for Italy international Riccardo Calafiori, whilst Liverpool who finished third are yet to sign anyone.

A number of players have been linked with leaving the club including Kevin De Bruyne and goalkeeper Ederson, who have both been linked with moves to the Saudi Pro-League.

Savio could be the only arrival at the Etihad this summer.

Guardiola has come out and said that De-Bruyne will be staying, despite only having a year left on his deal, whilst the Spaniard expressed that he would love it if Ederson stayed.

However, when asked about whether the club would be doing any further business this summer Guardiola said right now they wouldn’t be, but that could maybe change if someone left.

“More signings after Savinho? Right now, no,” he said.

“If someone leaves at the end, maybe, but if no one leaves, I think we’ll stay as we are.”

City will be desperate to win more silverware next season, in what could be Guardiola’s last campaign in charge, and getting their hands on the the Champions League will be right at the top of their priorities, but you can’t help but feel they might need a couple more quality additions in order to achieve that.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has admitted he would “love” Ederson to stay at the club amid rumours of a move to Saudi Arabia.

City are currently in America on their pre-season tour and face AC Milan on Saturday night having lost their first game 4-3 to Celtic.

Guardiola has taken a very young squad on tour, with a number of City’s established stars on holiday following their exploits at the Euros and Copa America.

Guardiola wants Ederson to stay

There have been question marks over the future of Ederson, who has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League this summer.

The Brazilian, who has been at City since joining from Benfica in 2017 saw a move to Al-Nassr collapse despite agreeing personal terms with the Saudi outfit.

Al-Ittihad are now trying to sign the Brazil international, but transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has described the deal as difficult due to City wanting €50m-€60m euros for the shot stopper.

The Athletic reported that Ederson, who has two years left on his deal at the Etihad, had been affected by the praise Stefan Ortega received after filling in for the 30-year-year-old last season when he was injured.

Ederson released a statement on Instagram denying those claims, saying they were “completely false.”

The keeper is part of City’s squad for their US tour and Guardiola has said he would love him to stay and that he’s an important figure in the dressing room.

“I wish with the bottom of my heart Eddie will continue with us,” the Spaniard said.

“I would love him to stay.

“I cannot imagine our processes succeeding these last seasons without him. He is an important figure in the locker room.”

Ederson has made 332 appearances for City and has won 16 trophies at the Etihad, including six Premier League titles and the Champions League.

Newcastle are one of the clubs interested in talented Manchester City youngster Oscar Bobb according to reports.

It’s been a quiet summer so far for the English Champions who have only signed Brazilian winger Savio from French side Troyes for £30.8m.

City are currently in America on their pre-season tour as they step up preparations for the new season, but lost their first friendly 4-3 to Celtic.

Newcastle interested in Bobb

It’s unclear whether Pep Guardiola’s side will make any more additions this summer, but they will need to be wary of clubs looking to sign some of their talented youngsters before the window closes.

City are no strangers to selling young talent and have sold a number of their academy graduates over recent years.

Bobb is the latest name to be linked with a possible move away from the Etihad, and City will be desperate to avoid a repeat of the Cole Palmer situation.

Oscar Bobb celebrates scoring for Man City.
Bobb is attracting interest from the likes of Newcastle.

GIVEMESPORT report that City have taken enquiries from clubs about whether they are open to letting the Norwegian leave on a permanent or temporary basis.

The report adds that Newcastle are among the teams who are keen on the talented youngster, whilst Borussia Dortmund are also thought to be monitoring the situation.

Bobb is competing with the likes of Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Jeremy Doku and new signing Savio for a place in the City team.

City are in a strong position as Bobb still has five years left to run on his contract having signed a new deal in February.

The 21-year-old has a huge opportunity to impress in pre-season given the absence of a host of regular first team players, and he made an impact against Celtic by getting on the scoresheet.

Guardiola said in the aftermath of the Celtic defeat that Bobb has incredible potential and he will be hoping the youngster sticks around, with GIVEMESPORT adding he will be handed the opportunity for more game time if he does.

Bobb has made 26 appearances for City to date scoring two goals and providing two assists, and he’s got the ability to increase that tally next season providing he remains at the club.

Manchester City could target a move for Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma according to reports, with uncertainty surrounding the future of Ederson.

It’s been a quiet summer at the Etihad for the Premier League Champions so far, with Brazilian winger Savio the only arrival to date.

Pep Guardiola’s men are currently in America for their pre-season tour as they continue their preparations for the new campaign, but they could find themselves looking for a new goalkeeper.

City could target Donnarumma

Ederson, who joined Manchester City from Portuguese side Benfica in 2017 is out of contract in 2026 and has been strongly linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League.

The Brazilian had agreed terms with Al-Nassr only for the deal to collapse, but Al-Ittihad are said to be in talks over a move for the 30-year-old who is believed to still be keen on moving to Saudi.

Fabrizio Romano has described a deal as difficult and it’s believed City are looking for €50m-€60m for the goalkeeper who has won six Premier League titles.

Gianluigi Donnarumma in action for PSG.
City could move for Donnarumma if Ederson leaves.

If Ederson does depart it would leave City with a difficult decision of whether to promote Stefan Ortega to number one, or go and sign a new first choice keeper.

Ortega impressed last season when he stepped in for the injured Ederson and recently signed a new contract at the Etihad until 2026.

However, talkSPORT have reported that City could target Paris Saint Germain goalkeeper Donnarumma, and add that the 25-year-old would be open to a move to the Premier League.

The Italy international joined the French giants on a free transfer from AC Milan in 2021 and has made 114 appearances for the club, winning three Ligue 1 titles.

England fans are well aware of Donnarumma after he saved penalties from Bukayo Saka and Jadon Sancho in the Euro 2020 final at Wembley.

Of course any move is dependant on whether Ederson brings the curtain down on his time at the club, but it’s something City will seriously need to think about as the new season draws closer.
