Galatasaray forward Wilfried Zaha is seeking an immediate return to the Premier League this summer, according to reports.

The Ivory Coast international is a Crystal Palace icon, notching 90 goals and 62 assists in 458 appearances across all competitions between 2010 and 2023, either side of an unsuccessful spell with Man Utd between 2013 and 2015.

Zaha left Selhurst Park at the end of his contract last summer to join Turkish giants Galatasaray, who he helped win the Super Lig title with nine goals and three assists in 30 appearances — a record extending to 10 goals and five assists in 43 games across all competitions.

However, reports (via Newcastle World) now state that Zaha is ‘desperate’ for a return to the Premier League this summer and would be allowed to leave Galatasaray on loan.

Former club Crystal Palace are understood to have expressed an interest in Zaha, while Leicester City are also potential suitors of the 31-year-old — who has also won the Turkish Super Cup during his time in Istanbul.

Wilfried Zaha of Galatasaray looks on during the UEFA Champions League match between Galatasaray A.S. and FC Bayern München at Ali Sami Yen Arena on October 24, 2023 in Istanbul, Turkey.

Could Newcastle revive Zaha interest?

Newcastle United were reportedly interested in Zaha last summer prior to his move to Turkey, but ultimately declined to pursue the winger any further.

However, the Magpies are undoubtedly short of options on the flanks right now. Anthony Gordon is their star wideman but has been heavily linked with a move to boyhood club Liverpool in recent weeks.

Beyond Gordon, Harvey Barnes and the out-of-favour Ryan Fraser the only senior wingers on the books at St. James’ Park.

With that in mind, would it be the biggest surprise to see Newcastle make a move for Zaha, whose availability on loan would certainly appeal to Eddie Howe’s PSR-limited budget?

Oliver Glasner will surely be hoping that his Crystal Palace side begin the 2024/25 Premier League season as they ended the last campaign.

In their final seven games of 2023/24, they won six and drew one of those matches, and they included wins over Liverpool (0-1), West Ham (5-2), Newcastle (2-0), Manchester United (4-0), Wolverhampton Wanderers (1-3) and Aston Villa (5-0).

Such a magnificent run of form in the forthcoming campaign will arguably put the Eagles in amongst those clubs challenging for Europe, though they might find life difficult having lost Michael Olise to Bayern Munich and, potentially, Marc Guehi to Newcastle.

Although the South London outfit have been fairly quiet in the transfer market this summer, they have still acquired the likes of Chadi Riad, Ismaila Sarr and Daichi Kamada, all of whom will improve what Glasner had in situ.

News that a move for former club legend, Wilfried Zaha, was also on the cards would likely have had Palace fans salivating.

Wilfried Zaha’s Crystal Palace return not going ahead at present

Despite only playing a handful of games Zaha won the Turkish Super Lig title with Galatasaray, though it does now seem he is surplus to requirements.

Palace were known to be interested, but as CaughtOffside columnist and transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, advance on Friday evening, the move is currently off.

At 31 years of age, Zaha has lost none of the skills that made him a legend at Selhurst Park, and a return would’ve at least taken the edge off of losing Olise.

With three weeks still to go in the transfer market, there could be an opportunity to resurrect the deal, though it isn’t clear what has caused the impasse.

Leicester City are also understood to want to hijack Palace’s move for their former ace, which could really complicate matters as far as Glasner and owner Steve Parish are concerned.

Leicester City are working on a shock deal to sign Wilfried Zaha on a season long loan from Galatasaray according to The Athletic.

Zaha left Crystal Palace on a free transfer last summer and joined Turkish side Galatasaray despite having offers from Saudi Arabia and Italy.

The 31-year-old scored ten league goals in 30 appearances as Galatasaray won the Turkish league, but it appears he could be on the move after just one season.

Leicester working on deal for Zaha

In a surprising turn of events The Athletic have reported that newly promoted Leicester are working on a deal to bring the Ivory Coast international back to the Premier League.

The report adds that Zaha was left out of the squad to face Hatayspor on Friday as the winger is in negotiations over a return to the Premier League.

If the Foxes can pull this deal off the Ivorian will become the club’s fifth summer signing and third attacking reinforcement after Bobby De Cordova Reid and Abdul Fatawu.

Zaha is attracting interest from Crystal Palace and Leicester.

The Athletic add that Zaha’s former club Palace had also looked into the possibility of resigning him and have held talks with the Turkish champions.

If Palace were to complete a deal for Zaha it would be the winger’s third spell at Selhurst Park and he’s scored 90 goals and provided 62 assists in 458 games for the Eagles.

Zaha still has plenty to offer and he’s got that Premier League experience which would be vital to a team like Leicester as they aim to beat the drop, whilst a return to Palace would certainly provide a huge boost to the fans and give the club another option in attack following the departure of Michael Olise.

Leicester conclude their pre-season preparations against Lens on Saturday before they host Tottenham in their first game of the season on August 19th.

Palace meanwhile play French side Nantes on Sunday before they travel to Brentford for their opening game of the season on August 18th.

Crystal Palace must match Wilfried Zaha’s wages at Galatasaray if they are to complete a sensational loan deal according to reports.

Zaha left Palace on a free transfer last summer to join the Turkish outfit and went on to win the league with the club.

However, it appears after just one season in Turkey he could set for a shock return and a third spell at Selhurst Park.

Zaha to rejoin Palace on loan

According to The Evening Standard talks are ongoing between the two clubs over a possible loan deal and reports in Turkey have suggested the winger is available.

The report adds that if Palace are to complete the deal then they must match his current wages, which are thought to be in the region of £170,000 per week as Zaha expects to earn to the same amount of money.

Zaha could be in line for sensational return to Crystal Palace.

Galatasaray reportedly want to receive a £9m loan fee to cover the Ivorian’s wages and if financial terms are agreed they are thought to be happy to let the winger leave.

Zaha rejected a club record £200,000 per week deal as Palace tried to convince him to stay at the end of the 2022/2023 campaign, but the 31-year-old decided to go to Turkey despite also having offers from Saudi Arabia and Italy.

The Ivory Coast international scored ten goals and provided five assists in 43 appearances in all competitions for the Turkish giants last season and is somewhat of a club legend at Palace having had two previous spells there.

The winger has played 458 games for the Eagles and scored 90 goals across his two spells at the club.

Palace have already added a winger in Ismaila Sarr this summer, but a loan move for Zaha could make sense and it’s one that will no doubt delight the fans and go some way to softening the blow of losing Michael Olise.

Oliver Glasner will hope that he can begin the 2024/25 Premier League season with Crystal Palace as he ended their previous campaign.

The Eagles really were flying high with superb victories over the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle United, West Ham United and others.

A high press and a front foot style was evidently manna from heaven for Glasner’s group of players, as they attacked every game with verve and vigour.

Crystal Palace set for epic reunion

After losing Michael Olise to Bayern Munich, and with potential losses of Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi to contend with, one could forgive Eagles fans for being a little downhearted.

However, CaughtOffside sources understand that the club are set to make a sensational move to bring a crowd favourite back to the club.

Although Galatasaray’s demand for approximately £6m/£7m as a loan fee are affecting the transfer process for Wilfred Zaha, sources indicate that the Turkish giants are open to selling the winger back to Palace permanently for a fee in the region of £20m – and the South Londoners aren’t averse to the latter scenario.

Wilfried Zaha back to Crystal Palace?
Wilfried Zaha back to Crystal Palace?

Indeed, CaughtOffside sources understand that Palace are willing to pay the permanent transfer fee though they will have to be on their toes.

Leicester City, Everton, Al-Nassr and Napoli have all expressed an interest in Zaha’s services too.

Zaha is fondly remembered as an important player in the Palace’s history, and the chance to reunite him with some of his former Selhurst Park team-mates may be too tempting for the 31-year-old to resist.

As the clock continues to tick in the current transfer window, and with the start of the league campaign just over a week away, the quicker any deal can be signed and sealed, the better for all concerned.

Zaha left Crystal Palace last summer and joined the Turkish giants on a free transfer, where he signed a three deal and earns a reported £300,000 per week.

The 31-year-old performed well last season as me made 42 appearances in all competitions, scoring ten goals and providing five assists as Galatasaray won the Turkish title.

Zaha could return to the Premier League this summer

The Daily Mirror report that the Turkish club could be willing to let the former Palace man leave for a cut price deal as they can no longer afford his wages due to the current financial situation at the club.

The report adds that officials at Galatasaray have told Palace and other Premier League sides that Zaha is available and officially on the market.

Zaha could be in line for a shock return to the Premier League this summer.

Palace along with Wolves and West Ham are believed to be the three English clubs interested in a potential move, but Zaha would have to take a drop in wages to secure a move to any of those clubs.

The Daily Mirror adds that if Zaha doesn’t want to take a pay cut Galatasaray could opt to pay him off and he would then be able to leave for free.

It’s unclear how interested Oliver Glasner would be in bringing Zaha back to Selhurst Park, but with Michael Olise seemingly Bayern Munich bound and a host of clubs interested in England international Eberechi Eze, a return to the Eagles would certainly be a crowd pleaser.

Palace have boosted their attacking options this summer already with the addition of attacking midfielder Daichi Kamada on a free transfer from Serie A side Lazio.

The Eagles will also be desperate to keep hold of Marc Guehi who is starring for England at Euro 2024, and Palace have reportedly set an asking price in the region of £65m.

Turkish giants Galatasaray have decided to offload Wilfried Zaha this summer, according to The Mirror.

Despite the player performing impressively in their title winning campaign, the Turkish club have made up their mind to let the former Crystal Palace attacker leave the club.

The report states that the European giants are unwilling to pay his £300,000-a-week wages and in order to show him the exit door at the club, they are ready to sell him in a bargain deal.

Zaha left the Premier League a year ago after moving from Selhurst Park to join the Turkish club.

He has performed well for them in the league and the Champions League but the club is struggling to afford his wages.

Despite his 10 goals in 42 games for the team, Gala are still trying to get rid of him to clear their wage bill and bring in new players at the club.

Crystal Palace are interested in bringing the player back to the club but they will face competition from West Ham United and Wolves for his services.

West Ham United Wilfried Zaha Premier League
Wilfried Zaha to West Ham United?

Zaha may be the best player to provide West Ham that offensive option as they want to strengthen their attacking areas.

New manager Julen Lopetegui is keen to make signings and add fresh faces to his squad this summer.

West Ham will be busy in the summer transfer window

Following his arrival after the departure of David Moyes, Lopetegui is set to be backed by the club to make moves this summer and prepare the squad by aligning it according to his playing style and philosophy.

Zaha’s Premier League experience is extensive. He played for Palace for two terms at Selhurst Park, making over 450 appearances and scoring 90 goals.

The fact that he is available in a cut-price deal makes sense for the Hammers to sign him as he would add versatility and depth to their attack.

West Ham United have tabled a £6m bid for ex-Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha, according to reports.

The 31-time Ivory Coast international left Selhurst Park for Turkish giants Galatasaray last summer and hit 10 goals and five assists in 42 appearances across all competitions during his debut season in Istanbul — winning the Super Lig and Turkish Super Cup double along the way.

That came after two incredible spells at Crystal Palace, where Zaha notched 90 goals and 62 assists in 458 appearances across all competitions — broken up by a disappointing stint at Manchester United — with 68 of those goals coming in the Premier League.

Galatasaray keen to remove Zaha salary

According to Turkish outlet Fotomac (via TBR), Galatasaray are looking to get Zaha’s wages — reportedly £3.75m per year — off the books despite his success with the club.

Fotomac states that the Lions would be happy to accept offers of £8m for the 31-year-old, even though his current contract runs until 2026, with the Istanbul side landing the forward on a free transfer last summer.

West Ham are understood to be keenly interested in bringing Zaha back to London as they rebuild under new boss Julen Lopetegui.

However, there’s plenty of work to do with the Hammers reportedly tabling an offer of just £6m for Zaha, whose Transfermarkt value currently stands at over £9m.

Despite advancing into his 30s, there’s no doubt Zaha would fill a need for West Ham, with Jarrod Bowen (16) the club’s only player to register more than eight Premier League goals in 2023/24.

West Ham United are keen on signing Wilfried Zaha during the summer transfer window.

The Galatasaray winger has been linked with a return to England and the Turkish outfit will demand a fee of around €12 million. According to a report from Fotospor, West Ham have already requested information regarding the 31-year-old winger and they will consider bringing him back to the Premier League.

It is no secret that they will have to improve their attacking unit and signing a quality winger could prove to be a wise decision. It will be interesting to see if the Hammers decide to use Mohammed Kudus as a centre forward if they decide to bring Zaha into the club.

The former Crystal Palace winger could form a quality partnership with Kudus and Jarrod Bowen in the front three. All three players will add pace, flair and goals to the side.

West Ham want to sign Wilfried Zaha.
Wilfried Zaha to West Ham United?

Wilfried Zaha would improve West Ham

The 31-year-old winger picked up 10 goals and five assists in all competitions in Turkey this past season and he could prove to be a solid acquisition for West Ham. The attacker is at the peak of his powers and he will look to make an immediate impact. He knows the Premier League well and therefore he should be able to settle in quickly at West Ham.

Julen Lopetegui will be expected to guide West Ham to European football and he needs quality players at his disposal. The Hammers have the bones of a very good squad, but they need to add a couple of quality players this summer in order to bounce back strongly.

Signing a versatile attacker like Zaha could prove to be a wise decision. He would be a no-risk signing at the reported €12 million asking price and he is highly likely to succeed in a league where he has already proven himself in the past.

After a disappointing exit from the Europa Conference League on Thursday night Aston Villa could do with some good news, and it looks like they might just get it.

Unai Emery’s side need to build for an expected assault on the Champions League next season, as well as remaining competitive domestically, so a mixture of youth and experience is a must for the Villains as they head into the summer transfer window.

Aston Villa talking to Zaha’s representatives

It had earlier been reported that former Crystal Palace ace, Wilfried Zaha’s representatives had been in London talking to West Ham, with Takvim now suggesting that they’ve also moved on to have talks with the Midlands-based outfit.

It’s certain that the speed merchant will return to the Premier League after a fairly disappointing spell at Galatasaray (10 goals in 37 games – the last one coming in January – WhoScored), and Villa will be hoping that they’ll be the beneficiaries of his services.

A move back to England might also reignite the 31-year-old’s desire and, subsequently, his career.
