For years now West Ham United have been the Premier League’s proverbial sleeping giant, but technical director, Tim Steidten, is waking the East Londoners up in a big way.

A battle of wills that developed between the German and David Moyes last season was only going to see one winner and, for once, the Hammers made the right decision.

For all of Moyes’ success at the London Stadium – lest we forget he brought the club its first major trophy in over four decades – his was a style of play that had begun to look stale and moribund in today’s game.

Tim Steidten has worked wonders for West Ham

Steidten had already proved his worth in the transfer market by then, landing Edson Alvarez, Mo Kudus and others last summer, but in the current transfer window, the 45-year-old has surpassed himself.

Max Kilman, Crysencio Summerville, Guido Rodriguez, Niclas Fullkrug, Luis Guilherme have all put pen to paper, with an announcement expected soon on Jean-Clair Todibo and Aaron Wan-Bissaka hopefully added before the deadline.

Tim Steidten has made some brilliant signings for West Ham
Tim Steidten has made some brilliant signings for West Ham

That’s a sensational haul in anyone’s book, let alone for a West Ham side that are not even in Europe don’t forget.

If each player can reach their expected level, then the Champions League in 2025/26 will no longer be a pipe dream but a realistic aim.

With Julen Lopetegui having replaced Moyes at the helm too, Hammers fans can expect a return to the free-flowing attacking football that was always the hallmark of Irons teams of yesteryear.

If the season does end successfully for the East Londoners, it’ll be the Spaniard that takes the plaudits, but no one should forget that without the nous of Tim Steidten, the club would likely be ambling into another campaign in hope rather than expectation.

Leeds United kick off their Championship season on Saturday against Portsmouth at Elland Road, shorn of a number of the players that took them all the way to the Play-Off final.

With three weeks left until the transfer window closes for business, there’s every chance that a handful more will bid the club farewell too.

Daniel Farke will be hoping that the all whites can go one better, even if they can’t call upon the likes of Crysencio Summerville, who recently joined West Ham.

They have at least agreed terms with a winger who could be considered his replacement, however.

According to Sky Sports, they aren’t favourites for Jesurun Rak-Sakyi from Crystal Palace but are still in the running.

Sheffield United are credited with being in pole position to sign the player on loan, and Hull have also agreed terms for him, though Leeds shouldn’t feel as if the game is already up because you never say never in football.

The loss of Crysencio Summerville to West Ham United will only be measured by how badly Leeds United miss him during the course of the 2024/25 Championship season.

One of the best players in the English second tier last season, there’s little point in anyone connected with the club still wondering what might have been as far as the 22-year-old Dutchman is concerned.

The all whites were always going to have to sell their crown jewels this summer, and that much was obvious from the moment the whistle blew at the end of the Championship Play-Off final.

Now it’s down to Daniel Farke to inject some positivity into the squad and bring in those players that will get the club back up to the Premier League at the second time of asking.

Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, has told Give Me Sport that one of the Elland Road outfit’s targets is Norwich City’s brilliant left winger, Jonathan Rowe.

Back at the beginning of the year, West Ham were monitoring Rowe according to The Standard, and Leeds might consider it a victory of sorts if they’re able land the player.

Leeds United have requested strict confidentiality from West Ham over the transfer fee they paid for Crysencio Summerville, according to reports.

After much speculation about his future, Summerville — who notched 19 goals and nine assists in 43 Championship appearances last season — completed a move to West Ham earlier this week.

The transfer fee for Summerville was undisclosed, but BBC Sport reported that West Ham paid £25m plus add-ons for the Netherlands youth international.

Florian Plettenberg also reported a £20-25m fee just prior to the deal being announced, with his post on X drawing angry responses from Leeds supporters, who felt their club had sold a key assist cheaply.

And now, seemingly in a bid to spare their blushes, Leeds have asked West Ham to keep the details of the Summerville transfer ‘strictly confidential’, according to Hammers Insider Sean Whetstone — posting from his ‘West Ham Football’ X account.

Whetstone also states that West Ham have agreed to honour that request, despite many prominent journalists already confirming the transfer fee they paid for Summerville.

Summerville is just the latest in a host of major outgoings for Leeds United, who have also sold Archie Gray (Tottenham Hotspur), Luis Sinisterra (Bournemouth) and Glen Kamara (Rennes) for big fees.

Leeds United have reportedly decided on which player they want to replace West Ham-bound Crysencio Summerville.

The Dutch attacker is on the verge of returning to the Premier League with the two clubs close to reaching a total agreement.

Likely to join the Hammers before the start of the new 2024-25 season, Summerville, 22, will become Julen Lopetegui’s fourth major signing of the summer after Max Kilman, Luis Guilherme and Wes Foderingham.

Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Borussia Dortmund’s Niclas Fullkrug are also advancing in talks to join the London giants.

Consequently, in preparation for Summerville’s Elland Road departure, Daniel Farke, according to Football Scotland, has set his sights on Plymouth Argyle’s Morgan Whittaker.

Morgan Whittaker is a transfer target for Leeds United.

The Pilgrims’ forward is valued as high as £10 million, which, following a window of high-profile outgoings, including Archie Gray to Spurs for £30 million, shouldn’t be too much of a problem for the Yorkshire-based club.

During his opening season at Home Park, Whittaker, who has three years left on his deal, scored 19 goals and registered eight assists in 46 games in all competitions.

West Ham United are set to complete a deal to sign Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United.

According to a report from Florian Plettenberg, West Ham signed the player for a fee of around £20-25 million and the deal is expected to be completed today. The winger will sign a contract with them until 2029.

The 22-year-old winger has had an impressive campaign with Leeds United and he managed to score 21 goals and pick up 10 assists in all competitions. He should prove to be a superb addition for the Hammers.

Summerville will look to hit the ground running in the Premier League. He has played in the Premier League before Leeds were relegated and he should be able to settle in quickly and make an instant impact.

West Ham set to sign Crysencio Summerville.
Crysencio Summerville is on the verge of completing a deal with West Ham

Summerville would transform West Ham

West Ham needed to improve their attacking options this summer and the 22-year-old should prove to be a quality acquisition. He is capable of operating on both flanks and he will add goals and creativity to the side.

The Dutch attacker will be delighted to secure a move to a Premier League club this summer.

Leeds failed to secure promotion to the Premier League and the 22-year-old will want to compete at a high-level. A move to West Ham would be the ideal step up in his career right now. The Hammers have been competing in European football over the last two seasons and they have put together a talented squad. They have brought in a quality manager like Julen Lopetegui as well.

They will look to scale greater heights in the coming months and Summerville will want to be a part of their project. The 22-year-old will look to prove himself with regular football in the Premier League now.

With a couple of weeks to go until the start of the 2024/25 Premier League season, West Ham have already got a handful of deals across the line, with the potential for a few more before a ball is kicked.

Once the club had secured Julen Lopetegui as their new first-team coach, it was obvious that the recruitment department of the club were going to have to up their game a few notches.

Young Brazilian ace, Luis Guilherme was quickly secured followed by the captures of Lopetegui’s captain at Wolves, Max Kilman, and Wes Foderingham.

Up until the past few days, the Hammers appear to have missed out on a number of targets, though things seem to be moving on apace now.

Collymore excited by West Ham’s transfer business

Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have all been strongly linked with moves to East London and that, according to Stan Collymore, would be decent business for the Hammers.

“I remember saying that when Julen Lopetegui signed Max Kilman, that’s the manager getting his own way, getting his feet under the table and being placated,” he said to CaughtOffside for his exclusive column.

“Fans perhaps don’t understand how long it takes to get a deal over the line. It’s all ‘get it done, get it done’ but it’s never as simple as that. Transfers have got to be done at the right time and for the right price as well.

Leeds ace Crysencio Summerville to West Ham?
Leeds ace Crysencio Summerville to West Ham?

“Fullkrug, I thought did well for Germany at the Euros and he harks back to a British type centre-forward.

“West Ham have generally been more successful when they have a big man there (Andy Carroll/Michail Antonio), so I think that Jarrod Bowen and others playing off him is a great idea for West Ham.

“Wan-Bissaka for £10m-£15m would give West Ham a steady full-back, and we know what he can do. He’s got pace even if he does have questionable defensive abilities at times, in the same way that Trent Alexander Arnold’s capabilities have also been questioned.

“So, Fullkrug, Wan-Bissaka, Kilman and Crysencio Summerville… I think that’s good, solid business from West Ham in this window.”

Of course, there’s still work to do to get a few of those names over the line, but the Hammers hierarchy will surely be aware that Lopetegui is unlikely to hang about if he doesn’t get the names he wants.

It’s a real crossroads now for the East Londoners because if they can strengthen to the extent they want to, there’s every chance that a Champions League berth is in their grasp.

West Ham United are closing in on a move to sign Leeds United attacker Crysencio Summerville this summer.

The Hammers are looking to bolster their attack after making signings in the defense and the midfield positions.

New manager Julen Lopetegui has been given the responsibility to change the fortunes of the club and he is eyeing a move for the Leeds attacker to become a part of his team for the new season.

It has been widely reported that both Leeds United and West Ham have reached an agreement for the transfer.

However, there are still some factors to be taken into consideration before a complete agreement can be reached.

Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has reported that there are still some things yet to be agreed including the contract length and the transfer fee.

The Hammers are determined to sign Summerville, who scored 20 goals in the Championship last season and won the Player of the season award in England’s second division.

His combination with Jarrod Bowen and Mohamed Kudus in attack is an exciting prospect for the West Ham faithful.

Leeds United have submitted a bid for Fenerbahce winger Ryan Kent, according to reports.

The Whites have been in the thick of the summer transfer window action, with the likes of Archie Gray, Luis Sinisterra and Glen Kamara all leaving for big fees, while Joe Rodon, Jayden Bogle and Joe Rothwell have been among their most eye-catching signings.

Leeds look on the verge of losing another star with Fabrizio Romano reporting that West Ham United have agreed a deal to sign winger Crysencio Summerville in a £25m-plus-add-ons transfer.

Leeds are already at work searching for a replacement and according to reports in Turkey (via Football Fancast), Ryan Kent is in their sights.

Leeds submit Ryan Kent bid

A product of the Liverpool youth system, Kent now plies his trade with Istanbul giants Fenerbahce following a glittering spell with Rangers during which he notched 33 goals and 56 assists in 218 appearances across all competitions — winning Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup titles along the way.

Kent joined Fenerbahce last summer but endured a tough first season in Turkey, registering just one goal and two assists in 19 appearances.

The Turkish reports state that Leeds have already submitted a €3m (£2.5m) bid for the 27-year-old who, to date, has 38 goals and 64 assists to his name across his senior club career.

West Ham’s smart Summerville deal

Crysencio Summerville will undergo his medical at West Ham today. The deal is almost done, and we are just waiting for the signing of all documents.

Brighton were interested but never reached an agreement for Crysencio.

West Ham did an excellent job behind the scenes in June and then presented a formal bid almost 10 days ago, as exclusively revealed.

The deal is £25m plus add-ons and is a very smart move from the Hammers.

No updates on Alvarez until after the Olympics

There’s no substantial update yet on Julian Alvarez and nothing to say before the end of the Olympics.

He wants to play more and Man City want to keep Julian, but that remains the same story as I revealed in June.

After the Olympics, Julian and his agents will talk to Man City and we will see if there are any more developments.

Liverpool still interested in Anthony Gordon

I’m receiving lots of questions on Anthony Gordon guys, but I was only told that Liverpool discussed several potential swap deals in June, not the specific values that have been mentioned elsewhere in the media.

I don’t have confirmation on the numbers being talked about but, for sure Liverpool wanted Gordon and they remain interested in the player, considering him an excellent winger.

Let’s see what Liverpool will do this month, but appreciation for Gordon remains; I’m 100% sure of that.

Manchester United’s third ‘here we go’ of the summer is…

The third ‘here we go’ for Manchester United is Chido Obi-Martin, the striker born in 2007 and who was at Arsenal doing incredible things in their academy. A proper goal machine.

A super talented striker and first of all, let me say that this kind of deal is something that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and all the people at the club are planning to do for the present and future; signing top talents early on in their careers.

We have to be fair and say that Arsenal made a very big proposal to the player in terms of money, but the decision was to turn it down and explore other options, including in Germany.

As soon as the deal is official, we’re going to reveal some names of clubs that really tried to sign him and what kind of proposals they made in terms of the project, but now the important news is that Manchester United have signed Chido.

Sticking with Manchester United, I can confirm that Noussair Mazraoui, the right-back, is also waiting for the Red Devils, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka must leave before Mazraoui will be allowed to join.

There were other possibilities, even in the recent days, to consider, but the player keeps repeating he wants to wait for Manchester United. He agreed on personal terms and believes this is the best opportunity for him. He trusts the project. He trusts the manager.

He wants to feel important after difficulties at Bayern, because he’s never been a regular starter.

Also, no bids yet for Scott McTominay.

Despite rumours that Fulham have offered £30m for his services, in the last 24h they were busy with the documents on the Smith-Rowe deal and with new signing, Cuenca, from Villarreal – as exclusively revealed.

McTominay has always been appreciated and for sure Marco Silva likes him a lot, but there’s still no formal bid on the table.

João Neves moving to Paris Saint-Germain doesn’t change a lot regarding Man United and Manuel Ugarte.

United already wanted Ugarte and PSG already agreed to sell him… but they want the right proposal and the right package, and Man United have not offered that at the moment.

Ugarte and Amrabat remain two names on Man United’s list for their midfield.

Atleti and Chelsea on the verge of Conor Gallagher agreement

It’s important to say that Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have almost agreed a fee for Conor Gallagher. It’s imminent and all about final details, and Atleti are waiting for the green light from the player.

As always, you need a player to approve the move, but in this case, even more so, because Conor Gallagher only has one year left on his contract and so has a lot of power in negotiations.

Atletico will not wait forever, so the timing will also be important, but for sure, Chelsea and Atletico are ready to do business.

Chelsea consider it a good solution because they don’t want to lose the player on a free and also they avoid any English club signing him on a free transfer too.

Let’s see what Conor Gallagher decides to do.

Raphinha’s definitive answer to Saudi Pro League representatives

We know that Barcelona are busy with trying to sign Nico Williams and Dani Olmo because, as I told you over the weekend, there have been contacts between Barcelona and Dani Olmo’s agents as well as between Barcelona and Leipzig.

The agents need to understand what Barça can do in terms of proposals, structure of the deal, and all these kind of things. Barça feel that Dani Olmo wants to go there, but we know that Barcelona are also busy with outgoings. They probably need to do something, especially if they want to bring in two players in offensive positions.

And so what’s important to remember is the situation of Raphinha, in terms of official proposals. There has been nothing from Al-Ahli, no formal bids, no official proposals.

Some intermediaries approached Raphinha and people close to him to understand if he wanted to start discussions over a potential Saudi move. If he was ready to open the door and then, in that case, go and negotiate with them.

What I’m hearing is that the answer of Raphinha was very clear; “no, thanks.”

He wants to continue in Europe. He wants to continue in Barcelona. He’s convinced that this season he can do great things, and he was very happy with his development in the second and final part of the season last year. He did very well, especially in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain.

We’ll have to see what happens in the next weeks, because August for Barça could be very busy.

Aaron Ramsdale waiting for goalkeeper ‘domino’

It’s completely quiet now with regards to Aaron Ramsdale.

There have been no new movements or updates for a while now, so we will have to see what happens later in the window, based on a goalkeepers domino.

If he does end up leaving Arsenal, then yes guys, they could need one more goalkeeper.
